. . . which reminds me of these words from last year's speech.
The road of victory is the road that will take our troops home. As we make progress on the ground, and Iraqi forces increasingly take the lead, we should be able to further decrease our troop levels -- but those decisions will be made by our military commanders, not by politicians in Washington, D.C. (Applause.)

The beating is going to be the Bug Eyed bitch behind him sitting next to Cheney.
THE FIRST PARAGRAPH TOMORROW NIGHT WILL BE:
The road to record profits of Halliburton are paved in blood from American troops. The rest there will not be coming home until we are convinced that our Oil interests will be protected by one of the waring factions in Iraq. That decision will not be made by anyone other than the CEO. After all, he signs the checks around here.

Just last week on one of his TV interviews (I forget with whom), he said that it he feels the pressure, but someone must make decisions, and that is HIS job. He made the decision to send over the addition 20,000 more. He is full of contradictions....somewhat unsettling.
The only difference between liberals and the people that blow themselves up is some push the button, liberals just talk
Bush's loss of political following is not only because of the war in Iraq. He has utterly betrayed his oath of office, every conservative advocate and person of common sense by ignoring the invasion of our southern border by illegal aliens. He isn't going to fix that with a simple statement in the State of the Union speech.
No one likes war, especially the ones who have to fight it. We entered that war with a threat that Congress recognized and supported. Now the Dems are pushing to turn tail and get out. They may get their way but no one is discussing what they will inherit when we leave. There will be a weak, powerless vacuum awash with oil money with that Iran and Al Qida are drooling over. When they take over and launch a greater war on us, what are the anti-war people going to do about that? No one wants to discuss that part of their "solution". We should be there until we win and then leave. We have invested too much in lives and material to do otherwise.
Regardless of the political persuasion of the president, I can't stand the State of the Union day--All day long we will hear nothing except what they think he will say, then the President will talk, and then all night we will hear nothing except what they said he said. Tired head AND a beating. I think I'll watch the History Channel or the Discovery Channel.
Someone here has a very limited vocabulary and a mind to match.
7:53 I just do not get this pig-headedness over the war. The notion that because American blood has been spilt in Iraq we must stay there until "we win" ... is just crazy.
Iraq has obviously degenerated into a state of chaotic civil wara that NO ONE CAN 'WIN'. And our presence is making it worse.
Of course there will be a vacuum when we leave. And yes, Iran and Al Quaida will sweep in and seek to benefit. But the alternative is to continue sacrificing our troops solely to prevent that vacuum ... and that is worse.
In this age of an all-volunteer military, we can NOT afford to suffor the kind of casualties we are already suffering, much less the Vietnam-like numbers that will inevitably ensue if we stay.
Iraq is a quagmire. Let it now be someone else's quagmire. Like, say, Iran and Al Quaida's. If the two of them - and Syria to boot - do move into that vacuum, they WILL end up fighting one another.
And we could use the time to heal and rebuild. Strategic withdrawal is a fundamental and sound military principal. Butting one's head against a brick wall is not.
Surge logic:
SOMEWHERE IN DICK CHENEY’S UNDERGROUND BUNKER, TWO MONTHS AGO:
BUSH: Okay, the Democrats took both the House and the Senate.
CHENEY: That’s great fu*king news.
RICE: What? Why?
BUSH: Because when we fu*k things up even worse in Iraq, we can blame them.
CHENEY: Heh heh.
RICE: Brilliant. Well, we’re going to have to do something new though. The American people clearly want us to try a new strategy.
BUSH: Yeah, we fu*ked the last strategy up pretty good.
CHENEY: Heh heh.
RICE: Okay, let’s see... what have we tried already?
BUSH: We tried doing what we’re doing now with 138,000 troops. We have also tried doing what we’re doing now with 158,000 troops.
CHENEY: I’ve got it! Let’s try doing what we’re doing now, but instead of 138,000 troops or 158,000 troops... how about – wait for it – 152,000 troops!
RICE: I see no flaws whatsoever in that plan!
BUSH: It’s perfect.
CHENEY: Heh heh.

and how much did lbj and kennedys make off of theyre bell helicopter stock during Vietnam.
and how much did Kofi Anon and the un make off of "oil fo food"?
Oh yea and Jimmy Carter got a peace prize for barganing away Isreal's security.
i think america can do just fine without the un and egypt and probly even bell helicopter, but i dont think we could go very long without the oil from the middle east, so maybe oil is worth fighting for. just a thought.
I don't, but 1:05's diatribe is pretty funny....
The Democrats are the majority now - remember, they are going to change everything!
LOL and ROTF
txsharon Nancy Pelosi---------really the same person?
you be the judge
Al-Zawahiri (Taliban potentate) has now joined in the Democrat rhetoric against Bush. He is front-running as their chief politcal consultant. They all have the same objective.
Al-Zawahiri is not a Taliban potentate. He is Egyptian, not Afgan. And he is bin Laden's second in command of Al Quaida.
So please, when you offer up a moronic criticism of those you moronically consider to be morons, try to get SOMETHING right.
I may just be stupid but is there not a threat on the US from the Middle East. Last time I heard 9/11 was caused by people from that part of the world. Granted it was Bin Laden but Sadam had provided benefits for that group. The ship that was run into, the embassy's that are bombed, aren't they all pretty much traced back to the same terrorist group.
I don't know about some people but I love the fact that I live in America and for the most part I don't have much to worry about when I take my kids to school, drive to work, go out for dinner and those lovely activities that most of the world isn't privy to.
The people in the military signed up for that job and knew what they were getting into. I am glad they are over there protecting my ass so I can go to work, make more money, and see my family without having to worry much about someone blowing me up on the way to work.
