It's Friday -- Let's Get Out of Here

Random Friday Morning Thoughts

And now the new home of the Dallas Mavericks.

  • This should never happen.

  • And, frankly, neither should this:

  • A judge can't ban someone from the state as a condition of probation, but I suppose he can do it as a condition of bond.   And the assistant DA sure got fired up during the hearing: “What he does for a living is engage in this cosplay to get clicks so he can raise money, That’s what he does. He spews his neo-Nazi nonsense in hopes of getting more views.”  Can't argue with that. (Gift link.)

  • I'm surprised the guy got a not guilty verdict after that one. (Gift link.)

  • When you call a screwworm that, it gets your attention.

  • How's that new peace deal coming along in the last 12 hours? Well . . .
    • There will be no signing ceremony today or any negotiations at the start of the "60 day period."

    • Bad news. Big fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon overnight

    • And there it is on early Friday morning: The strait is now closed. (This account below has been reliable throughout the war.)

  • Fox News is mad this morning that Trump wasn't invited to the opening of the Obama Presidential Library.  There is no way he was going to get an invite.

    • Flashback to a post by Trump just last week:

  • "People on this panel probably take ivermectin. I take it probably every couple of weeks, you know, when I'm around a crowd of people and it works pretty well" - Rep. Andy Hopper at the 3:00 minute mark of a video he posted yesterday.

  • The Business Second™.  ICE will be selling warehouses?

  • Legal nerdy stuff:  Yesterday the Fort Worth Court of Appeals reversed a pre-trial ruling suppressing evidence in DWI case that should never have been suppressed by the judge.  Interesting note: It was the same judge that presided over the Tanner Horner case who was reversed.
  • Lauren Whitener Clock: 6 years and 350 days.

Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

Random used car prices from June 2016.

  • He "was attempting to stop a vehicle on U.S. Highway 287 near Childress at approximately 4 p.m. when a truck-tractor semi-trailer pulled out in front of his patrol unit.

  • On page 5A of today's Messenger, I learned that Elizabeth Smart was in Decatur yesterday.

    • She was back in the news just last month:

  • Well this is horrible. A video exists when the horse first got spooked and took off.

  • It had been quiet on this front for most of the year:

  • I'm sure you've seen the video of the aftermath of the private jet crash on the highway in Laredo. That rescue scene was wild, and I'm not sure anyone really knew what to do.

  • Barack Hussein Obama will open up his presidential library in Chicago today with a heck of a musical line-up:

  • Trump signed the bizarre agreement with Iran yesterday in, of all places, the Palace of Versailles.

    • One of the most shocking aspect of the agreement is all the money that Iran is getting. Fox News put up a graphic and committed three of nine bullet points to it.

    • He's mad.

    • But don't worry, Trump stayed up on Air Force One while returning to the U.S. by posting about golf balls.

    • Defaming our democracy in front of the world in his final press conference at the G7 meeting.

  • It's the month for big Supreme Court opinions and one or more will be released at 9:00 a.m. CST today.

Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

Trump campaigned in Dallas at . . . Gilley's.

  • Here's the video of kids scattering last night:
  • There's no reason to run. Just walk out and be cool. Video.

  • I can't find exactly what he lied about, but I'd like to know.

  • (1) MLB rules prohibit any player from writing anything on his uniform, and (2) Ask a Muslim about that last sentence by Greg Abbott..

  • Sheesh. This constitutes "losing the war." And it cost the lives of 13 American service members and 160+ school girls.

  • Not only is this a weird thing to do this morning at 5:00 a.m. on the day of the confirmation hearing, but Trump can just cancel Senate hearings on his own?

  • Random crazy stuff Trump just said.
  • The Business Second™.

  • Texas documentary note:

    • Flashback: I wrote this about that case last November when the court opinion on appeal came out:

  • More random movie news. I'm in.

  • What's going on out there?

  • Legal news: "George was convicted of stealing about $45,000 of campaign donations. Money prosecutors said he used to buy a home, pay property taxes, and make retail purchases . . . ."

  • When you've lost the New York Post . . .
