Super Bowl Beat Down

As we have two weeks to get beaten down my Super Bowl Hype, you'll probably hear that the last time the Colts were in the Super Bowl was against Dallas. That was many, many years ago (and I remember watching it as a little kid - the game ended on a Colt field goal). Here's the Sports Illustrated cover after the game.

Yup, a coach with some black ancestors is certain to win the Super Bowl. So what?

Yep. Duane Thomas was down near the goal line, close to what could have been a "put the game away" touchdown for Dallas. With a pile of Colt players on top of him, as he was trying to get up out from under the pile, one of the Colts took the ball from him and started jumping up and down in front of the ref .... who promptly declared that there must have been a fumble, and gave the ball to the Colts. That began their drive to the game-winning field goal.

Seems like instant replay would have reversed that call. Technology just was too late for the Cowboys on that play. (Wonder how many calls would have gone against Dallas if it was available back then?)
