Random Monday Morning Thoughts

Ten years ago to the day, Trump came down the golden escalator to announce his candidacy.  This was my reaction along with a caption that said the Republican race would be "over the top entertainment."

  • In one of the most disturbing assassinations in recent memory, two Minnesota state politicians were targeted in their homes in the middle of the night by a guy posing as a cop. One, and her spouse, was killed. The other, and his spouse, were injured.

    • And that mask the shooter wore, as captured by a doorcam, was about as creepy as you could get:

    • And last night, after about 48 hours, he was captured in a field.

    • And Sen. Mike Lee of Utah is a ghoul. (He's trying to make "fun" of the Minnesota governor.)

  • Iran and Israel bombed each other all weekend, with Israel actually suffering some hits. But make no mistake, Iran can't win this. At least by themselves.

  • The "No Kings" rallies (a very catchy name, by the way) appeared to have been a huge success across the nation.

    • The Handmaid's Tale group in Fort Worth was pretty impressive.

    • The Denton County Sheriff went Full Bubba before the weekend:

  • Meanwhile, Trump's birthday parade included a slow pace, squeaky tanks, troops casually walking instead of marching, and one guy carrying a drone.   Trump had to have been displeased. If it's one thing he knows, it's what plays well on TV. This did not.

  • This involved two guys working on an underground water storage tank, and I'm not real sure what that is.

  • Good grief. I whiffed on my prediction on this trial.

  • And I might have been wrong about this. But they are still trying to piece together what happened.

  • "All 3,820 residents from 764 apartments were safely evacuated." Video.

  • I saw this post on Saturday and started reading the comments. It took me a while to figure out that the homeowner thinks the government is starting wildfires, but that there is a secret plan to spare all homes painted blue. And the number of people on her side is jaw-dropping.

  • So we have all learned over the last few years that a great percentage of our population is gullible or downright crazy. So what happens when they go on deep binges on AI where the machine confirms and encourages some oddball belief they have?  The New York Times has an incredible and frightening article about how it has already happened. (Gift link.)

  • Eric Trump just announced "Trump Mobile" on the Fox Business Channel. It seems to be a grift similar to the business model of Patriot Mobile except the excess money will be pocketed instead of being spent on school board elections.
  • Texas Tech buying softball players right now through the transfer portal is something to behold.
