Random Monday Morning Thoughts

The arrest by the DPS trooper probably never should have happened, but a great examination of how it all happened is in a chapter of Malcolm Gladwell's book, Talking to Strangers.

  • Overnight.

  • A wrong way driver collision on 114 near DFW airport shutdown the freeway overnight. Two are dead.

  • Dateline Parker County. "Stanley had reportedly been recorded detailing her plan to an acquaintance. She allegedly intended to buy powdered fentanyl and inject it into a high-end box of chocolate, which she planned to mail to her ex-husband as a congratulatory gift for his recent engagement, along with a 'honeymoon incentive offer.'"  Hey, tell me more about that honeymoon offer.

  • I didn't even think this could be done

    • I also don't think there was even time for a replacement judge to be named before the order was signed. The elected judge recused herself on Thursday. The order sealing the file was signed Friday by someone whose name we don't even know.

  • The conspiracy crazed world of MAGA is in a tizzy over the Epstein list either not existing (per AG Pam Bondi) or Trump desperately telling them to get over it because the files are fake and were be created by Obama (!!!).

  • Always attack the press.

  • How FEMA got gutted just when it was needed most:

  • Nothing authoritarian about this, right?

    • Or this

    • Or this. (Just substitute "LA" with "Germany" and "illegal aliens" with "Jews.")
  • Cause of the Air India crash on June 12th that killed 260 determined: "In the flight’s final moment, one pilot was heard on the cockpit voice recorder asking the other why he cut off the fuel. The other pilot responded that he did not do so.” And it is not the type of switch you can just accidentally turn off.

  • If you didn't read that first hand account of the Kerrville flooding in Texas Monthly, take 10 to 15 minutes and do it.
