Nikki McKibbin

I really don't remember this girl from American Idol Season One (she came in third) but Fox 4 did a profile on her tonight. She says she turned down a record deal with a $375,000 signing bonus. Things have gone notagood since. (Top two pics are current day, bottom two or are from Season One.) And that's all I'm observing. Really.

You're killing me Barry. They "are" from season one. I hope you have a good proofreader at work, or somebody is going to jail.

If you try real hard, you could have her too!

That poor girl must not have had the money to get her roots done before she went on TV.

As far as the record deal....that's one of those.... could of, would of, should of deals. Don't you hate it when that happens?

10:46 You should really consider getting a life. It is not neccessary to point out everyone's grammar mistakes. Come on down from that high horse of yours.
Surely, your smart enough to figure out what he was saying without correcting one little word.

i agree with 6:29 , barry wouyld you start screening the comments and eliminate those that deal with proofreading and corrective grammer. those people are ruining it for alot of people.

10:46, it's "you're" smart enough...

Thank you, 7:48. It may irritate some when a person corrects their bad grammar or typing, but it also irritates others when people post sloppy text or don't care enough to proofread. Why should people care what you say if you don't care enough to say it correctly?

Good to see she got off the meth.

I remember her...she had a karaoke business before going to American Idol. Although I didn't realize she came in third, I thought she was eliminated much earlier. She was okay, but no Kelly Clarkson.

Sounds like another Karoke loser from Perrin who performed at Frilly's and was to quick to point out she was as good as American Idol's winners...Newsflash she's not and there is a BIG difference between Karoke girls and real Singers.

Ahem!...
Throughout the day I GLADLY endure NUMEROUS errors of grammar, spelling and pronunciation. As for having a pet peeve with regard to ANY one error, I have NOT a single one. The reason I am NOT offended by improper grammar/pronunciation and the like is because text and speech are intended to aid in communication. If someone is ABLE to adequately communicate THEIR thought then WHY should ANYONE bloody care about the accuracy of the communicator's grammar, vocabulary and/or spelling?

There is a recent grammar error currently executed by even the HIGHEST browed communicators and that is, "they've got", "she's/he's got" and the like. I KNOW what they mean when they use this particular grammar error thus I have NO reason to seek a clarification which is the ONLY reason another adult should EVER take it upon themselves to criticize the grammar, spelling or punctuation of another adult.

One other thing, PRIOR to correcting the grammar of ANYONE make bloody certain YOU are spot on with YOUR grammar. Ahem...I do believe annonyNOTHING 8:00 meant to CORRECTLY say it as opposed "to say it correctly."

My apologies to anonyNOTHING 8:00 for using THEIR comment to PROVE my point.

With respect, mzchief, I did intentionally write "to say it correctly." That sounds better to me, and I believe you should let your ear be your guide.

I never tell anyone how they should express themselves. I was only making an appeal to clean up the sloppiness. Don't say "your" when you mean "you're," or "wouyld" when you mean "would." As short as these posts are, it only takes a few seconds to read what you have written and correct any errors. If you don't do it because you don't care, that's rude. If you don't do it because you don't know any better, well that's just sad.

To strunk and white...
Have YOU given ANY thought to the POSSIBLITY that English is NOT the first language for SOME of the commentators on BARRY's blog? I have ALWAYS found it to be a rather shameful habit of some people to make fun of or correct the pronunciation of a NONnative speaker ESPECIALLY when the person doing the correcting just PASSABLY speaks one language.
(Please know that in NO way am I am attempting to intimate you are such a person.)

IF you TRULY let YOUR ear be YOUR guide then YOU have to KNOW that your and you're sound alike. There are SOME people to whom POOR grammar does NOT sound like PROPER grammar. Since the very NATURE of blogging is casual PERHAPS it is APPROPRIATE for a casual approach to be taken regarding the form and verbiage within comments. I would HATE to be responsible for intimidating the grammar challenged to such a degree that they elected NOT to comment rather than face the wrath of a Grammar Nazi.

I do indeed AGREE with you that it is unfortunate for people to LACK the education to be able to utilize proper grammar. Perhaps I am a wee bit pessimistic in my belief that correcting the grammar of those who are UNaware of grammar rules will do LITTLE if ANYTHING to improve THEIR grammar.

Incidentally, it REMAINS improper for one adult to correct the communication style of another adult UNLESS they are employed as a Grammar Nazi (sometimes known as an English Teacher).

You are a hoot! Might I suggest you become a 2nd or 3rd grade teacher. You can spend your day corecting your students grammar and spelling. We are grown up enough on this blog to understand one another. We do not need someone like you stinking up the place.

Actually, Strunk and White are more about a person's writing style rather than grammar. If you don't get grammar then you'll never get Strunk and White. I LUVVVV Strunk and White.

Use Firefox as a browser. Misspelled words have a red line underneath, so you can spell-check while you type.

Download Firefox 2.2 - it will automatically import all your Internet Explorer favorites and settings.
