Now this will play big in Wise County when it is released in December: "Brokeback Mountian" - a gay cowboy movie. Catch it in theaters before you head off to Northside.
Surely they are not planning on showing it in Texas. Like anyone will show up to watch it??? Gay or Not... not a single cowboy I know would be caught dead watching it.
Lots of homophobes here, eh? The story sounds good and unfortunately it may not draw a crowd in Texas theaters. This will be a good rental though - people to afraid to go see it. Love and relationships go across the spectrum - no matter what occupation or hobbies one has. Hasn't anyone ever really realized just how many homosexuals there are in professional sports???
Reminds me of one of my most favorite Eric Cartman quotes from South Park, "No Dude, independent films are those black and white hippie movies, they are always about gay cowboys eating pudding."
If you don't watch South Park, you won't get that....so just move on.
Call me what you what but I don't think that I am a homophobe. I know that I am a Christian and I think that it is very sad that the American public accepts these relationships like they a normal. What has happened to the teaching of the Bible?
Biblical or not, this is just a replay of the old Boy meets girl: Boy meets boy. Boy loses boy. Boy gets boy back. Boy then loses boy again and lives with horse.
You guys and/or gals are getting a little out of control on this blog!
I have seen plenty of steers roaming around wise county but very few queers. I must keep to myself alot because from the talk on this board about 90% of decatur is homo.
How does Barry come up with these things??? Just to keep us going.
I for one am dying to see this movie. As a female, I do find two masculine men that are attracted to each other appealing. I think it is the chemistry that attracts me no matter who it is between.
I really hope that you don't think I care what you call me. You don't know me and I don't know you. I am sure that you are a really great person and I don't need to know who someone takes to bed at night to know if I like them. What I hate is that everytime I look around someone is pushing it in your face that being gay is okay! Putting it out there so that my children can look around and see it everywhere. It is not okay! Nowhere in my morals and standards is it okay.
I know gay people and I have a few gay friends. Yes, I have gay friends but they keep their actions to themselves, not printed on a coffee cup somewhere!
Read the Bible, people! Doesn't anyone believe in God anymore??
What about straight people that cannot reproduce? Should fertility treatments be illegal then? I don't believe in God, but I'd say if there was such a thing: it would be a pretty big sign that He/She/It didn't want your defective genes reproducing.
Anon #3--LOL! Cracked me up...I'll probably see the movie, and, if done tastefully (like 'Alexander'), it may be pretty good.
Like many here, I have personal views on the topic--like many issues!--but as long as people keep their personal business PERSONAL, then so be it. I'm not broadcasting my bedroom agenda, so I'd prefer not to hear, watch or read @ Starbucks about anyone else's. I mean, eew, I didn't ASK.
This is the same state from which Happy Texas and Lonestar originated.
If you'll remember, Lonestar is the flic where the dude got freaky with a woman, fell in love with her, and even married her (or nearly so) only to find out she was his sister.
I was shocked when I moved here to see that this movie was really not a spoof, but was really based on the actual story.
Look around Wise County, for instance, in some neighborhoods the only shade is out behind the single wide cause their AIN'T none in the family tree.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger are both great actors and will probably do a superb job, however, I will voice my opinion by not buying a movie ticket nor paying for a rental. But, I did like the movie, Boys Don't Cry, with Hilary Swank playing a woman who dressed like a man and liked women. Call me a hypocrite. Hmmm, maybe I should rethink this one.
Yeah, that was a good movie. So was "The Laramie Project." I highly recommend it for anyone, especially those who thing gay bashing is harmless and fun.
There are so many closet case people in Wise County. All the ones that I know of are from Decatur. I am sure that this will be a big pay per view hit. You can't rent it at Blocbuster, then no one will marry you
I'm not from Wise County. It sounds to me like there are more biggots there than gays. Yes, I read the Bible. It teaches love and respect, not hate. The Baptist teach hate as a family value so I say boycott the Baptist !
Back to the Bible...It also says that its a sin to eat shell fish ! How many of you Baptist had shrimp for supper this week? Is says a woman should be executed for wearing red. "Oh my ! What will the Baptist ladies wear to church?" And there are other things written in the Bible that you Baptist seem to ignore 'cause you don't think it applies to you.
Ok people, lets learn to love and respect each other. You respect me as an individual, no matter what my life style is and I'll stop kicking Baptist. I may even visit Wise County again...after I have seen Brokeback Mountain and seen what real love is...the same love that Jesus preaches...not hate.

Baiting us again.
Lol, wonder how they came up with the movie title?
Are you on the gay preview E-mail list or something?
Surely they are not planning on showing it in Texas. Like anyone will show up to watch it??? Gay or Not... not a single cowboy I know would be caught dead watching it.
Yeppers, my thought! Cowboys & Gays, nope..just don't mix!
Yeah, I'm kinda wondering the same thing as anon 2
"Brokeback Mountain"......
....woopee ti yi yo!

Lol, here we go.........open another can!

are they having a veiwing party in decatur ...because according to bridgeport and chico people, all the gays in wise county live in decatur.
south park, although very vulgar and immature usually has a good underling political message
nice photo of those cowboys.....i'd guess the one on the right as the feminine character.
wonder what's going on in the pic?
I heard it was shot in Decatur. Near the Walgreens store
There are only two things that come from Texas...steers and queers.
I find it amusing that we can't accept gay cowboys, but those "straight" cowboys sure accepted a friendly cow or pig on those cold, lonely nights.
Or family members.
You guys and/or gals are getting a little out of control on this blog!

i think it's hot. why is it that men are happy to watch two women...but when it is two men, let the paranoid, homophobe, starbuck's bashing begin...
At a Wyoming rodeo, i once sat behind a couple of young guys giggling under a blanket.
...now that I think about it, maybe rodeos bring out certain behaviors in folks.
...go figure.
Not that there's anything wrong with that!
is that the sheriff?
Anon 7 must be a homo.
Brokeback Mountain.......Did he get his back broke being mounted?
Boy, that just left me with a mental picture of Jerry Seinfeld, George, Elaine, and Kramer out on a Dude Ranch. Maybe even Newman....
Since when does Decatur have a Walgreens? Have I had my head in the sand?
don't forget there are sissies in texas, too.
how can you say you save seen more steers and than queers around here? what does a queer look like?
Maybe Anon #7 is just sensitive.
The sissies are from Bridgeport.
I thought it was just sheep.
I for one am dying to see this movie. As a female, I do find two masculine men that are attracted to each other appealing. I think it is the chemistry that attracts me no matter who it is between.
Mary and Joseph just sounds better that Harry and Joseph.
That's funny! How about when Harry met Sally instead of when Harry met Bob!
besides giggling.......
the guys under the blanket at the rodeo were kissing too.
Course, there really isn't anything wrong with that if.......
:)
sad
yep, it was sad.......
......and sickening!
where do you think most gay guys from the country hangout? Either at Starbucks or at Rodeos. Believe me I know.
Rodeos.
There are more gay people around you in Wise County than you will ever know. They are everywhere.
"then you will ever know"
Those are the key words. LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY! I really don't mind if you stay in the closet.
Well, I don't like you displaying your stupidity which you obviously don'[t keep in the closet. Pot, kettle, black.
I really hope that you don't think I care what you call me. You don't know me and I don't know you. who's he? don't beleive we have met, have you?
being gay is not natural! if it was then why can't gay people reporduce?
lol, i think you mean reproduce
What about straight people that cannot reproduce? Should fertility treatments be illegal then? I don't believe in God, but I'd say if there was such a thing: it would be a pretty big sign that He/She/It didn't want your defective genes reproducing.
to mean in here too!

This will be a pay per view. Nobody will rent it either.
