Horrible Stories Buried In The Newspaper

What makes news and what doesn't? I found the following on page 9B of the Morning News: "A 79 year old woman died from injuries she suffered after a teenager stuck her Saturday with his SUV, according to Grapevine police. Lois Lorenzano apparently walked behind the gray GMC Yukon as the boy . . . was backing up in a parking lot . . . . No charges have been filed." There is a growing, and stupid, trend in this state to file criminal charges when an individual never intended to harm another individual. I hope the prosecutor in this case leaves well enough alone. It's an accidental tragedy. Let's call it that.

It just makes me sick, according to the world today, there is no such thing as an accident.

Lawyers cannot and do not "cause all the lawsuits"--they have to have a client who wants to file a lawsuit first.

First, can believe what you read in the newspaper? Second, How can you make a decision without being sure you have the facts. All the facts, not just a newspaper account (usually biased).

Maybe it was an accident but we don't know.

As far as the lawyers not to blame for all the lawsuits, I disagree. They go to these "potential clients" and tell them they might be able to get a ton of money and it won't cost them a dime if they don't. What do they have to lose?

Anon #6 - Did you know that most people that bash personal injury lawyers are the first ones sitting in their lobbies when their loved one gets hurt. Have you considered that this kid was not parked, but rather cutting through a lot when he encountered a retaining wall and had to back out? Wonder if he even checked his rear view...................

Too bad everyone can't afford those nifty Infiniti's that show the rear of your vehicle on-screen for the driver to see. And, by the way, why would the newspaper skew the facts in an incident like this, unless the driver was someone noteworty? Just wonderin'.
