I Missed This

The boys on my morning radio station were talking about a 4 hour program on the National Geographic channel this weekend about 9/11. It sounded great, impartial, and non-political. Plus there were tons of interviews (the ticket clerk who checked in some of the hijackers), rarely seen video (the hijackers hanging out at the airport) and some crazy facts (two of the hijackers rented adult movies in their Boston hotel on the night before 9/11 - kind of an odd tribute to Allah, but an interesting fact).

I started to write a really long comment here but decided no one really wanted to read it. I will say that I still can't bring myself to watch much to do with 9/11 yet.

It is interesting that so many people are so willing or able to forget or minimize the pain and anger and anguish that most of us felt that day. While I don't think it is healthy to relive it or dwell on it, I do think we need to remember that there are people out there that hate us because we are Americans. They don't care if we are Republican or Democrat or Libertarian, Christian or Druid or Wiccan, or white or black or green or yellow or whatever. They hate us for the simple fact that we are Americans and they want to hurt us. They have hurt us, and they will again if they get a chance. They have even told us that they are actively planning it. I wonder what it is going to take to make us really understand that.
