2) Since when is it the responsibility of the school to require students to pledge an oath to anything; somewhat reminiscent of the loyalty oath required during the McCarthy era. The issue should not be about the religious connotations(sp?), but about providing the free education most states say their children are entitled to. If a student DESIRES to recite the pledge, then provide them the opportunity. If the student DESIRES NOT to recite, so be it. Let the folks argue the REQUIRMENT to recite, not the content of the recitation. Then get on with teaching the students whta they need to become honest, tax paying citizens, and leave the pledge, constitution, etc. to civics, history and government, etc. classes.

This does not say to me that religion must not be in school or on public property. I think kids should be taught about all religions (objectively)and understand that they are all different and not one is right or wrong just different. To the only one with a clue - wow, we all wish we were as enlightened as you. It must be nice to sit wherever you might be knowing you have it all figured out.
People are free to recite their prayers and pledges to Allah, to Satan and anyone else they choose. However, it is easy to review history and interpret it the way you choose (and you seem convinced you are the only one who is right) but I have read numerous quotes from the early leaders of this country that they did believe in God but did not believe that government could demand a single religion for anyone. That doesn't mean my beliefs aren't a part of me and I wouldn't take them and exercise them wherever I may go.
I believe where we have gotten off-track is where we have demanded that everyone conform to the idea of "anything goes". That wasn't the intent of our founding fathers and it's not right today.
I'm sure a common person like me could never make that clear to an intellectual such as yourself but I know people who have been willing to sacrifice their lives for a country where they want the ability to serve God and keep him as part of their daily routine - in their pledge and other parts of their lives. I'll take their word for it over yours any day.

The problem I have with you "True Believers" (nicer than Jesus Freaks) is that you are so judgmental towards us non-believers. I was brought up in a Christian home, went to church, my Dad is a Deacon at his church, but I have never felt what you have felt. Sorry. I live my life like most Christians, drink a little, cuss a little, but respect my parents, elders, and neighbors. I say the complete pledge including “under God”. I don’t steal, lie or cheat, hate rap and kids that show no respect to their teachers, bosses or parents. I believe in the death penalty, and hate sex offenders, and don’t care for gays (it’s not normal, I don’t care what any one says).
What I don't do, that a lot of people do, is push my agenda on others. This includes gays, blacks, and liberals and yes even some conservatives. Give people the freedom to believe what they want and don't tell them they are wrong for not believing what you believe.

I think, before there was a United States, the government of countries like England used "religion" as a way to control the lower classes of people.
Follow the Ten Commandments and you will be a responsible person. Most other religions have similar rules, if you will, to follow that mean the same thing.

You asked what happened. I guess my problem with the religion thing is I only believe 80-90% of it. You say there is not that many “true believers” and I agree. I feel like I am being judged if I go to church Sunday morning and then go home watch the game, throw back a couple of beers and then miss church Sunday night so I can watch Desperate Housewives.

I think it is wrong for the church to make up the rules of what is right or wrong. For example the Catholic believe of celibacy (Priest) was not because God wanted it, it was for protecting Church property from inheritance. Well that backfired didn’t it.

God solved this sin problem by making peace with us through the cross. Colossians 1:20 and having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things into himself.
when God solved this porblem, He poured the curse of the law upon Jesus, delivering us from the penalty of our sin.
Jesus took our place in order that we might take His place. in other words, He received what we were and what our lives deserved, while we receive what He is and what His life deserves.

First of all, who is forcing you to read this blog? Second, are you not exercising your freedom by responding? Third, you are trying to restrict the rights of those that you believe are forcing their crap on your family. That's not fair! When we say "GOD" we mean the Lord and His Son Jesus Christ. I don't us believers are trying to shove it down your throat, but the Bible has told us to try to help those that do not believe in God so that they will and have everlasting life after this one. Also this is a blog sight, and if you don't want to read someone elses opinion, I would suggest that you leave this blog alone. Yet who am I, I am only 13. GOD BLESS YOU!

I am an atheist, but I do know my religion as far as facts-so I can back up why I am an atheist. God is Jesus, and Jesus is God. It is called the "Holy Trinity", according to bible scholars. You should find a lot on it through google.
All you "anonymous's" need to get an identity. It's very difficult to distinguish who is saying what. The one going on and on about Jesus being the only God, the Bible doesn't teach that. Who did Jesus pray to? In the Garden of Gethsemane, why were their two different 'wills'? In Genesis, why did God say, let 'us' create man in 'our' image and likeness? Sounds like more than one God.

If there really is a "God"-in the form you are referring to- why would he destroy his own creation? Does it really make sense that a book written 2005 years ago has the same meaning as it does now? Nothing stays the same. Ever played the game called "Operator".. You say something and pass it around the room to different people- 9 times out of 10 it is messed up. Now, take the bible and multiply it by a couple of billion different views, and you will understand my belief structure. I am not going continue trying to prove you wrong-because it is pointless- either way, you will find some other "proof", or a scripture. Jeez, go get laid for once.
Who said God was destorying His creation? He's not. He did not cause storm! Well I guess your IQ is below 10 so you would not undertand. but you know in your heart that there is a God! you know it!
If god is not destroying his creation-why are people killed by the storms, disasters, he creates? So, putting it in perspective. God has given life to humans right. At the same time, he has given life to some humans in the earth population that take the lives of other humans. How do you explain that then? It is tied to "God", the "Creator", after all he did supposedly in your mindset create us right? So, you are contradicting your own thoughts.. Nice.
Because he does not create storms we live in a fallen earth, it is satan the god of this world, that is doing all the harm. Not God. God is love! people take other peoples lives why? they are left th their own thoughts, selfeness etc... God gives everybody a choice! He does not control anyone! you have a choice to believe or not to believe.
Let me ask you a question? do you have kids? if you do would you put sickness, cancer, death on your kids? would you do harm to them? I would hope not. I can tell you God loves your kids more then you or I love our kids, He only has good plans for us and our kids, but we must all make the right choices.
So the next time something bad goes wrong, stop and think,why is God letting this happing? is God letting this happening? Would I let this happen? would I do this to my kids? you would'nt God would not! so its one of 3 things 1. we live in a fallen world and bad things will happen. 2. we make wrong choices. 3. we have an enemy his name is satan.
now if you have kids you will understand what im saying. I would never hurt one of my kids. I want to protect them at all costs, but if they make the wrong choices what happens? Well I can tell you what happens to them didn't come from me. got it!

Wow your a genius. Want a cookie? No kidding it says "In God We Trust." It is not saying we trust this specific God. Whoever is your spiritual leader you should trust. Otherwise it would say "In Jesus We Trust", or "In Buddha We Trust," or "In Allah We Trust".
A religiously free based government-means we acknowledge a religious precense, and accept views from different religious angles. So we trust anyones' "God".
