And Let Me Say . . .

. . . I'm absolutely amazed by the number of responses to the Pledge of Allegiance [edit] topic (below). The comments, although some make me a slight bit uncomfortable, were great. Good debate. And let me add: Some of you are incredibly funny and witty.

Unless we travel the backroads, we don't see many churches that look like the one in the photo.

Nice picture. Very peaceful scene.

Thanks!

Looks like BSG is trying to force his church on us by showing us his picture! watch out BSG you will make a lot of people mad by pushing this church pic, some folks may not like their church painted white? be careful.

It's so interesting how threatened some people are by "religion." Speaks more of the individual than of what they're saying....or, in this instance, blogging.

And, I really like the photo. Better looking than some of the big warehouse-styled churches out there these days.

People can worship in any style building. Most churches that look like that one are traditional in their worship.

The "warehouse-style" churches seek those who might not feel comfortable in "church in the wildwood" style building.

There both on the same team.

Those "warehouse style" churches are likely being built for practical purposes - with so much metal, likely insurance rates are lower.

And churches are really getting away from denominational labels too.

Another way to draw people in, I guess.

Well, regardless of the reasoning, I do not find them to be that attractive, nor inviting. Same team, well done, architecture not.

I think they are ugly too - but church architecture these days is adopting more of a "worldly" atmosphere - likely to be more of a ploy to draw folks in - which is the point after all.

I'm kinda wondering when churches will add mini-golf courses, and motels to the mix.

It could happen.

why can't we just admire the beautiful building for what it is. A wonderful, quaint church, let us please don't start on the religion issue again. To each his own.

No one should have a problem with this

We can only wait & see

I would quarrel with the terms ploy and worldly. I looked up plo and some of the definitions were trick, ruse, acheme.

When you think about it not everyone would want to sit on 18th century furniture and sing 19th century music. (do you hear many radio stations playing pipe organ music?)If you want to worship that way great but not everyone does.

Are these new building beautiful? not really. Are they effective? Very much so.

It is a strategy to reach more people. Why throw out those negative terms?

really good points 3:00.

corporate worship is wonderful, but what is done outside the church walls is the point.

some folks may feel that their faith witness is better at Red's Take Five or Billy Bobs.

do ya reckon?
