"My Dad And Uncle Are Going To Kill Me"

The youngest son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was arrested early Friday and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest, law enforcement officials said. John Ellis Bush, 21, was arrested by agents of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission at 2:30 a.m. on a corner of Austin's Sixth Street bar district, said commission spokesman Roger Wade.

I feel sorry for the kid. I bet he is gonna catch 4 kinds of hell at home. Kinda reminds me of Billy Carter.

Those Bush kids do like to drink though huh?

Anonymous #1 I can't agree with you more (she says with a glass of burgundy in her hand)

But, I don't do it in public and when I am underage and I don't get arrested for it.

Fortunately for us, when our kids get into trouble it does not make the Drudge Report Headlines. We get a call from the office of "Rex" and we take care of it in a private manner. And believe me, a great majority of our kids have done the same thing. I did not vote for President Bush - but I do entirely respect a need for his family's "private matters". I, as a parent, would have been publicly "flogged and blogged" had all my family's tribulations been "aired". I guarantee the phones are ringing in Decatur the last week of July - every year.

Cut him some slack, he's just carrying on a Bush family tradition!!!

I agree with condoleesa - he's just a kid.

I'm just glad he wasn't in a car.

Sixth street can get the best of anyone...I think one may get drunk just putting foot to pavement...true story.

As Ron White would say," he was drunk in publickkk."

Bush was arrested once for drinking in public during colleg

Jeb was arrested in his earlier years for drinking like a madman

Bush's daughter Jenna was arrested for drinking like a wild girl.

Now jeb's son is arrested.. no surprise. Welcome to Texas.

Anon 14,
What are you talking about. While that is true for a portion of kids. Most teens drink regardless if their parents did/or do drink. You should know-I mean heck we do live in Wise County after all. What else is there to do after football games on Friday nights?

Anonymous said...

Thing to do fridaynights is to go get loaded at a pasture party, while mom and dad get loaded at frilly's.

Whoever the anon is that thinks kids only drink if their parents do... I really hope that you are smart enough to not believe what you just wrote. That is crazy and if you have teenage kids I would start watching them pretty close.

Boredatwork,
You are exactly right. I would have to say that at least 90% of the students at Decatur High School drink.. Go figure though-

What I think everyone is missing here is the "illegal" and "arrest" part. In order for the "arrest" to take place, there had to be a reason; i.e., behavior of someone under the influence.

I think too if you check statistics, you will find that of those arrested for DUI, MIP, Public Intoxication, etc., you will find that this was not the arestee's first time to be drunk. They just happened to get caught this time.

It is obvious that there are lots of kids who drink legally and illegally and lots of kids who don't. Most who do, usually don't get arrested.

Personally, I have family who drink and family who don't - parents sometimes influence and sometimes not. As long as I have known, NO ONE on either side has ever had an arrest - alcohol related or not.

With the Bush family, it is obviously a "family" problem. It may not be alcohol as much as a problem with authority, class, respect, as well as a host of other issues. I would guess the origin of the problem starts with Big Barb.

The only reason that we know about this kid getting arrested is because his uncle is the Pres. If WCM put every person that got arrested on a DUI or MIP charge on the front page, they wouldn't all fit. Also, one of them would probably be your cousin or nephew or brother or sister.

You people need to understand that these people are human. He isn't the President, his uncle is!!!

ANON AT 1:44. Re: your comment -
" illegal" and "arrest" part. In order for the "arrest" to take place, there had to be a reason; i.e., behavior of someone under the influence." Every person under the age of 21 who is drinking alchohol is breaking the law. From experience with my less than perfect child who once was a teen ager...... and has thankfully grown out of that stage...it really depends on who you are. Not necessarily how you are behaving. After my child was arrested (17 yrs old) and charged with MIP and Public Intox. he was told by the officer, "We used to just take you to the station and call your parents - but not anymore." Funny thing a couple of girls in school (same age) were picked up for the exact same thing a month or two later - mom and dad - "got the call"....To those of you "get the call from Rex" - just to let you know - not all of us "get that call" some of us (parents) spend alot of our hard earned money on attorney's and tickets when the ones with the right names - get "the call." All I can say is I'm thankful we werent important enough to make the paper too. Gosh, then we could spend all of our money - deal with a child who has got a problem - then dodge the looks of the folks who arent any better but managed to "get the phone call".

this doesn't go here but there isn't a comment box to say what I'm thinking. Barry has put alot of time and effort into this blog and I think it's pretty darn crappy that he can't even comment because some wise a** is remarking with his name. If I were Barry - I would tell us all to stick it and go back to the muse where his comment was the only one that mattered. I'm so sorry Barry that there are weiners out there who don't play fair.

Anonymous said...

your right that comment doesn't belong here, so before you judge other peoples uses of the blog, you should judge your own.

bite me jerk. You are probably the jerk off that stole Barry's name and you are probably the kid in school who was the reason the whole class got punished because you couldn't stay in the lines. Maybe you need some counseling. What difference could it possibly make if put that comment in here. There wasn't anything wrong with it. And if it is you who is doing it - I would be willing to bet that I am not the only one who has judged you.
