"House Majority Leader Tom DeLay
said yesterday that Republicans have done so well in cutting spending that he declared an 'ongoing victory,' and said there is simply no fat left to cut in the federal budget. Mr. DeLay was defending Republicans' choice to borrow money and add to this year's expected $331 billion deficit to pay for Hurricane Katrina relief. "
"Asked if that meant the government was running at peak efficiency, Mr. DeLay said, 'Yes, after 11 years of Republican majority we've pared it down pretty good.'"

That interesting spin from one of the biggest crooks in Washington. His PAC and several of his assistants have been indicted in the last several weeks. That's great logic--"we can't cut anymore so let's borrow some more money". Where is the logic in that? That deficit may be our downfall.
Sounds like a democrat doesn't he?
He needs to go back over that pork infested transportation bill they past last month. It had enough pork to make Jimmie Dean jealous.
He's one of those guys that just by looking at him I would assume he's not honest. I wouldn't trust him with 25 cents.
forget his politics.......ain't he cute after his eyelid surgery?
swoon!
Just another indication how far we have fallen in the last 12 years with the Republican "attack dog" mentallity and too many "Anon's" to ignorant to see the difference. If a Dem. had said something like this, Melmann(sp?) the RNC "Mouth" would have been on FOX running the PERSON down so fast it would have made your head spin. Forget about the issue, attack the PERSON.
m&m - great line. I will have to remember it!
His eyes are brown right? (Meaning he is full of it)
Wiz, too bad Ann Colter already used that phrase in ref to dems.
No, Natasha8boris, he doesn't sound like a democrat. We have the largest deficit in the history of this country. Check your facts. The tax cuts, the war, etc. under THIS President, have resulted in the largest deficit in history. Read Greenspan. You are going to see massive inflation and serious economic problems for this country in the next 5 10 years as a result of this "we can't cut anymore so let's borrow some more money" attitude. Check your facts before you spout off--democrats traditionally don't cut but they don't borrow either, hence the idiotic nature of DeLay's comment.
liberals, liberals whis we could put them in an electric couch! and get rid of their narrow minded ways! lizard would be the first to go!!!!! ya! baby
When "W" took office the country had the largest surplus in history, thanks to democrats. The conservative red necks will not truly understand our current deficit until they can no longer afford to fill up their dear and beloved pick up trucks. The estimated population of the United States is 297,229,235 so each citizen's share of our current national debt is $26,673.24. Are you republicans ready to write out a check to show support of your President?
