Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • I bought tickets to the Cowboys' preseason game on Saturday --- found them on Stubhub for about $30. I probably won't even sit in them since I just want to walk around that place and take it all in. I'll be gone by halftime.
  • Can you believe all the Swine Flu stuff on TV. Half the population to be infected? Up to 90,000 deaths? Is the CDC the biggest fear-monger on the planet?
  • Tony Romo seems troubled.
  • Movie Ridiculousness: The bus jump over the uncompleted freeway in Speed.
  • When I was a kid, all of us had to get some type of vaccinations that would scab over and cause a dime size scar that would last for 20 or 30 years. What was that?
  • If you have HBO you must, and I mean must, watch the current edition or Real Sports which documents this gut wrenching event. Four athletes in the water after their boat overturns, and 46 hours later only one remained. He now talks about it.
  • Faithful reader Justin emailed me to tell me he live is Cairo, Egypt and sent along this pic to prove that the Evil Empire even stretches to that land.
  • Saw a phenomenon on Facebook yesterday: Every momma was posting a pic of their kid(s) as they headed off to the first day of school.
  • Remember when no one knew how to upload a picture?
  • Kids: Is the Cost vs. Benefit ratio really worth it?
  • I think it's silly that a medical examiner, whose sole duty is to examine a body and determine the cause of death, can label his findings as "Homicide." I understand his conclusion of death by "bullet to the head" or "knife wound through the heart" (paraphrased) but to conclude another person did it "intentionally, knowingly or recklessly" seems a little far fetched in most cases.
  • Sometimes this blog is hard to write. Sometimes it's not. I can't tell you how entertaining it would be if I could tell you everything.
  • Jarhead?
  • In case you wonder why we on the Left are still ecstatic that W is gone: I was reminded of this 17 seconds of gold.
  • Everyday I walk by a Decatur office that has a "Don't Tax Me BHO" bumper sticker on the door. Makes me laugh.
  • Is it a bad sign that 8 workers and two City of Decatur employees are staring into a deep construction hole on the street outside of my office this morning?

The vaccination was for 'smallpox'.

Don't you love how "Jarhead" is staring intently at Fox News while fondling his assault rifle? That photo is just awesome...so many stereotypes rolled up into one. I knew they stockpiled guns and ammo, but bayonets? Do they expect the race wars to get that ugly?

"In case you wonder why we on the Left are still ecstatic that W is gone..." - ahh, we on the the Right are also glad he's gone.

"Movie Ridiculousness: The bus jump over the uncompleted freeway in Speed." - and what about the scene in the Blues Brothers when they stop at the end of the uncompleted highway, pop it into reverse, and fly across the sky over the chase cars? Where's the outrage over that scene?

"Kids: Is the Cost vs. Benefit ratio really worth it?" - Only people without kids could ask that question.

Ditto on the first comment - I got mine before starting 1st grade in 1960.

I saw the "BHO" sticker on the way in to Sweetie Pie's Sunday and I made a comment to my hubby saying that BG needs to see this one. My brain has been warped by the blog.

I was one of the mom's who posted first day of school pics on facebook yesterday! In years past, I have taken pictures and emailed them to family. It was pretty convenient to just upload them to facebook.

"Kids:Is the Cost vs.Benefit ratio really worth it?" Where would we be if B.C. & Your Mom had considered that?? I think the jury is still out on that!!

I don't see where the problem lies. Bush was thinking about terrorism even while trying to relax and play golf. I bet he could have solved the problem by inviting the terrorists over to the White House for a beer

Outrage?! Get real
the difference is that the movie Speed was supposedly a drama (even though most of it was laughable), while The Blues Bros. was intentionally funny and over the top from start to end
"I hate Illinois Nazis!"

What is up with the flag that "Jarhead" is sporting? Is there something wrong with the field of stars? it doesn't look right.

My President can kick your President's ass in golf.

Sorry, Barry. But, Denny has one-upped you again today with the pic of Mini-Me's squeeze. Just sayin.

Hey 8:56
Pretty sure your president and my president are the same….or have you and Governor Slick Head already seceded.

Dang. That's scary close to what life at the ol' McMansion is like, except for 2 things:

1) I'm not that handsome, and

2) His home the-atre setup is way better than mine.

That is all.

Carry on.

Ah, yes, the infamous "Bush on the golf course" scene. I guess that's what happens when you catch the President on a golf course. Shows the power of a sound-bite, doesn't it?

Everyday I walk by a Decatur office that has a "Don't Tax Me BHO": Why does this make you laugh? Did you not take something in law school to help you expose lies? Lets start with what Obama promised in the campaign: no new taxes on most of us!! Now let him place a carbon tax on use of oil in manufacturing process. My cows eat grass, grain, hay, etc. All these require that my tractor burns a lot of diesel fuel. I am not sure of all the ways that carbon is burned in the chain but there is a lot of trucking of fertilizers, grain, live cattle and meat that require burning a lot of fuel. If you want to buy a steak, I sure as hell am not going to throw the tax on diesel fuel in free. No Barry, if you are among the group that Obama promised not to raise taxes on then he lied to you. Anything that Obama adds to the COST OF DOING BUSINESS WILL BE PASSED DOWN TO THE CONSUMER. The tax that is added to pay the increased US budget will be eventually collected from the consumer. I did not fall off a turnip truck down in Georgia.

The costs of a new national health care program will result in the collection of taxes somewhere along the chain of consumption of goods and services. Barry, if health insurance for you and your employees is increased, are you not going to go up on your hourly rate? Are you not going to pass the added cost of doing business down to the guy making $30,000 a year who gets a DWI?

Redistribution of wealth requires that you do not pass the additional cost of doing business down to the guy with the DWI. You just don't get to eat a steak today.

Read my lips Obama, "No new taxes."

Barry, a medical examiner's finding of "homicide" simply means what it says in the dictionary -- killed by another human being.

It does not mean this was homicide under the Penal Code definition.

Even capital punishment is listed as a "homicide."

I guess its to late to stop the Turf deal at the high school so lets remember the sob's at the next election and let them know that it was not that important to stay ahead of Bridgeport.

How did Jar get into Sarah Palin's office?

Jarhead uses Russian made ammo?
How UnAmerican.

Anonymous said...

Barry, I love you.

See, I like Jarhead because he's self-deprecating (brief pause while readers go look that term up). I'm a Blue Dog Democrat who like guns, and I'm surrounded by good ol' GOP rednecks like Jarhead. We'll never see eye-to-eye on many political and social issues, but dang it, we still laugh and get along in the end. Is this country great or what?

It is not too late to stop the turf. Call your board members and show up at the meeting and speak out against the issue.Board will vote on the expense in public session. Go support the board members that are trying to meet the needs of the students.

Swine flu killed what, 300 people over the last 12 months WORLDWIDE? According to the dictionary (a book that has words and definitions Dallas County) this was a pandemic. But this goes back to the media being riled up on slow news weeks with no murder or child deaths or celebrities buying coffee at Starbucks.

The only reason Swine, sorry H1N1, became a problem is the F'n kneejerk reaction by people with no idea of reality deciding what we watch. What else can they report about on 24 hour news channels. With the media all being sheep, yes Fox 4 you included, they caqn't decide not to cover something because of their image. I would love to see a news station step up and say, "No, this is no big deal, find something else to talk about." SWINE FLU IS NO BIG DEAL, leave it the hell alone.

If you think Swine Flu is a big deal, go bury your head in the F'n sand and wait for the Leprechaun to tell you where his pot of gold is.

Kids = TRUE LOVE
The benefit is discovering that “true love” when you see your baby for the first time. An altruistic love that you never knew existed before then. Money is nothing compared to that.

“Entertaining”
Oh Sweetheart, I‘d appreciate it if you keep our/my secrets to yourself. “:)”

"Homicide" denotes death at the hands of another human, not necesarilly "intentionally, knowingly or recklessly"

Double Fake Dr G. Medical Examiner

Obammy official press release, A crisis is a terrible thing to waste. Pound em with panic. Make them think swine flu is going to kill them all and that way we can shove another Nazi socialist program down their throats. My plan is coming together. Must go now. George Soros is on the phone and I must take his call to recieve more orders. That is all.

"Movie Ridiculousness:" ? How about the start and ending of Fahrenheit 911?

Oh, and everything in between.

wordkyle said...

CDC is not as bad as the WHO. Does anyone remember the fact that in 1976 more Americans died from the swine flu vaccine than from the disease itself?

There's your government healthcare.

And as sad as it is for me to say, my hero Indiana Jones was involved in the most blatant movie ridiculousness of all time. Surviving a nuclear blast by hiding in a Frigidaire is a Democrat policy. (I'll cite my research later.)

* I am disappointed to see that Jarhead does not have a MTAR 21 on his start to acquiring a decent weapon and ammo collection. *;)

* The medical examiner uses the term "homicide" because it is the Latin word describing one human having their life ended by an another human. For instance, Jacko could not have self-administered the drug that caused his death, thus, the L.A. medical examiner determined Jacko's death was a homicide. A MEDICAL examiner determining a death to be a homicide is not in any way making a LEGAL determination as to the intent of the person who caused the death of the decedent.

Yes my daughter posted a picture of the kids on Facebook. My granddaughter is beautiful and my grandson is one good looking boy.

Are you a moron? Bush was using one of the exploding golf balls used to kill terrorists who attack golf courses. Of course the liberal media cut the tape before seeing how it works.

I think the people on the right will be as glad to see Obama leave as the people on the left were glad to see Bush leave. The people in the middle would like to see everyone leave.

I was watching a news program the other morning and caught the creator of the swine flu vaccine on it. When asked about concern of possible long term effects since there has been no time for this study, his comment was something like: "since I created it, I have been one of the first to get it. I can tell you that it hurts less than the regular flu shot." Since he got a giggle from the interviewer, it wasn't brought up that he totally neglected to answer the question. Many concerns on that one.

Anonymous said...

I still don't know how to upload a picture! And yes, kids are worth anything, $$$, time, everything. The benefits and blessings far outweigh the heartaches and costs.

To anonymous 12:48...
You should be concerned about the negative, long-term, side effects of the novel H1N1 vaccine. It seems to be a VALID concern in the U.K. More than likely, U.S. mainstream media will not make much of the side effects because it would derail Obama's efforts to ratchet up mass hysteria about H1N1 in an attempt to validate his bogus assertion that the government needs to control the health care of EVERY U.S. citizen. H1N1 should have kept the name Swine Flu since Obama and his Czars are using it in an attempt to lead the national teat suckling pigs to slaughter.

"Jab" is Brit talk for shot/vaccination.
