Nude girls control speed much better than Nazis.

Nazis strip and gas little children. Rhome police officers do not. You're recorded on camera quite often during the course of a day, why is it that the camera that ignores you if you're obeying the law is the one that is villified?

I am sorry to admit it but ... I do drive the speed limit so its not about the speed ... it is the point of the matter for me.

So I have removed my front plate and when you see me on camera I am the one letting them know that THEY ARE NUMBER ONE :)

I everybody carried guns like the Pugomatic party and NRA wanted, as people drove by these Nazi cams, Armed Citizens Of America could take shots at them. This might retard somewhat the eagerness of of speed cam operators.

anon 4:54, it's not the camera itself. It's the mentality of the Rhome city council that deem it more important collect speeding fines than protect their citizens.
If you didn't know, they fired their police chief because he felt their officers should patrol the neighborhoods more that write speeding tickets.

I looked and looked at the photos and to my surprise, no police officer is present? I’m not an attorney, but I do know that an officer must witness or view the traffic offense for a citation to be issued.

Other cities who have adopted “red light cameras” adopted city ordinances (as opposed to state traffic laws) to fine drivers for running red lights, but not so for “speeders”.

It would only seem reasonable that any citation issued without an officer present would have to be dismissed, but if you receive it in the mail ten days later I guess you wouldn’t know to ask if an officer was even on duty since you were not stopped and had the opportunity to meet one.

Most drivers probably believe that the guy setting up the camera is a cop, but I am just about sure he is a civilian Nestor employee.

I would assume that the burdon of proof would be on the city of rhome to show that on the day a violator recieves a ticket an officer was present when photo evidence shows that on other days he was not.

4:54 PM, the rhome cops would have to be in the neighborhood streets to strip and gas little children, thank god none of those children are out on the highway!

4:54PM you have a right to face your accuser. How can you do that with a machine?

I can just imagine two giant, ass hauling dump trucks tangling it up right as they got near him and wiping him/them and their gear totally off the face of the earth. Man, I wouldn't stand there like that for any amount of money. Not to mention what the blowing grit would do to my $200 sunglasses.

thank you 7:23 for recognizing that fact..
it's really tragic what Rhome City Council did..
When that happened, I lost what little respect I had for people who claim to want the best for my family and Rhome citizens.. He got replaced by a camera, that's harsh.

Barry don't leave that CD on the dash too long it may cause damage to the AC/DC original sound track version.

Changes must be made in Rhome. I would call upon all citizens of Rhome to get out and vote May 12th. Citizens have the opportunity to make changes in the city by electing Kitchens, Wilson and Davis. These three candidates ran because they felt that there was a need for leadership in the city.

As current members of the council, Moore and Martinez were appointed by the council (and city secretary) not elected by the citizens. Neither has served the citizens and have only followed as sheep to the mayor. Time for change! Rhome must begin to no longer be the embarrassment of Wise County and north Texas.

The mayor has scheduled a parade on the same day as elections (he always shows up for the parade) so take time to meet Kitchens, Wilson and Davis that day and vote.

The new cheif of Rhome PD has given the Nestor traffic cam people 30 day notice. He does not want the camera there either. This was told to me by a Rhome officer and several other people that work around Rhome PD.

I think Moore and Martinez are serving the citizens just by wanting to be part of the council.

And I believe Moore is on the volunteer fire department. That is a big service to the citizens.

The parade is for Rhome Pioneer days and is to help the Volunteer Fire Department.

I passed the Nazi cam on Saturday on my way into Ft. Worth to do an errand for my mother-in-law. Lucky I was driving her vehicle, so I floored it.

I did a strip tease in front of the camera.

I'm a 44 year old fat guy.

Hope they enjoy the pictures!

Where do you begin....

anon 7:23 - The camera allows the officers more free time to patrol the neighborhoods. It only takes one officer to man the camera, while others patrol the schools and neighborhoods. KC was fired for not doing his job. If you would like to get the truth on this, talk to the DA, Sheriffs office or the DPS.

anon 1:03 - If you look at the photo, you can't see inside the van, where the officer is. There are always two people in the van, a Nestor employee and an officer.
I agree, that it would be on the city to show that an officer was on duty in the van at the time of the citation.

anan 8:57 - you face your accuser in court. Just like you would if you robbed a bank and your picture was taken while you were robbing it.

saw_em_off_ags - KC, the former chief, is the one that brought Nestor to town. He was let go for not doing his job in other areas.

anon 6:41 - When someone steps down from the council, they are either not replaced, appointed or a special election can be held. Martinez and Moore were appointed because of there previous service to the city. Chris Moore with the Fire Department and Fernando Martinez with the Planning and Zoning Committee. I would say they have given more of there time to the city than any of the candidates you listed.

I disagree with Rhome being an embarassment. Rhome is looked at as one of the most, if not the most, progressive and best cities in wise county.

Anon 2:43
I don't know if an accurate statement would be that Rhome is one of the best cities in Wise County but I can tell you that they are going to have the first chance to be the more progressive city. Rhome is going to get hit the earliest with all of movement from the Metro Mess and if they aren't progressive with their growth then they will be the laughing stock of wise county. Kind of like Newark.

I always thought Rhome and Newark were of the same. At least they look alike.

2:43 pm where do I begin....

The camera does not allow officers to spend more time in the city, and if it does, they have chosen not to do so.I never see an officer in the neighborhoods.

And if there are two people in the van, an officer and Nestor employee, why does the officer stay in the van and no patrol car is present (as apposed to sometimes seeing a patrol car parked next to or in front of the van)?

And, if you look back on the city council agendas, it was former Mayor Pro Tem Godfrey that pushed to get Nestor into town. It was a tech gadget and it would bring in money.
K.C. was not fired for not doing his job, he was let go because the mayor was embarrassed that K.C. went on the news and said that the council had established a ticket quota. This was done after then Mayor Pro Tem Godfrey said he wanted to fire K.C. for not writing enough tickets (see Messenger article dated November 12, 2006). That’s when the mayor assigned his best buddy, a guy who has never been a real cop, to pair up with a cry baby female cop.

Why would they hire Roebuck, except that he is long time friends of the mayor’s buddy, and he had been talking to Nestor to have them set up in Sunset, where he was the one man department? And how would Roebuck get rid of Nestor when (a) he does not have the authority to do so, the council would have to, and (b) there is a contract?

And I would argue that Moore and Martinez have given any more time then others listed, as Kitchens is also on the planning and zoning and her family has served on the council for years. Wilson has been in various positions on the council including Mayor and has also served with the fire department.

I agree with the previous post stating that Rhome is an embarrassment. Not the city itself or the citizens who live there or give to it. I am speaking of the ones who are in position to make decisions that have the negative effect as they have done. Rhome is not the most progressive city in Wise County and I am not sure what you would base that statement on.

You are blinded by sheer stupidity. You must be running for council.

Anonymous said...

Pioneer Days - What a pathetic joke! Have you seen anyone show up to this event besides the City council, cops, fire dept and Newark Fire Department? I think NOT!

Anonymous said...

Fact:The contract has a 30 Day escape clause.

Anonymous said...

12:14....Apparently YOU were there?

In response to current council members serving the community true Martinez previously served on the planning and zoning board, however he had never even been in the actual city until about 2 months ago except to go to meetings. He is unaware of most of the businesses not to mention the basic layout of the town. And yes Chris Moore is a member of the volunteer fire dept.

Davis is also a police officer (not in Rhome) and also a member of the army reserve. Kitchens is on the planning and zoning board, a planning and zoning sub-committee, as well as a 9-1-1 dispatcher (not is Wise County) and a student, Wilson has held council positions and the office of mayor in prior years as well as worked in the water and sewer dept for Rhome.

Hmmm, I think the new candidates have the incumbents beat on public/community service. Just a thought!

As for the Nestor cameras, KC did bring the contract however the council most definitely didn't oppose it. And they are a pain in the ass. They can't prevent crime just make money for the city, however the bad publicity has been more negative then positive.

12:56...Apparently,I know a lot more about it than you do.

Three tickets because of that stupid thing all within about a week of each other. Not only was the camera illegal, there were no speed signs on that east bound lane that they liked to monitor so much.

All three of my tickets were 66, 67 or 68mhp supposed ly in a 55mph zone. Ironically, the opposite lane has a sign nto two miles east that says 65.

No time, with the exception of early morning and late afternoon when the police set up anmd took down the camera, was that van present. They would set it up and leave it unattended for the remainder of the day until around 6:30 pm when they would drive back out and pack it up.
