Letter Guidelines
I'm not sure what is going on over in Jacksboro regarding its upcoming municipal elections but check out this Letter to the Editor policy of the local paper over there:
• An endorsement of a candidate for public office will publish only as a paid advertisement and must contain a disclosure statement as provided by the Texas Election Code.
• “Neutral” commentary regarding a candidate or a group of candidates will be considered for publication only as a paid advertisement and must contain a disclosure statement as provided by the Texas Election Code.
• No commentary opposing a candidate or a group of candidates is acceptable for publication.
See it here (along with some ironic "Freedom of Speech" preaching.)
What letter regarding the elections could possibly be printed without forking over some $$$$?

You think Jacksboro's the only place that people who don't live in the city limits run for city council. I doubt it. What's worse is when someone runs for re-election to city council when they are building a house outside city limits. That way someone can be appointed to take their position when he/she steps down.
