I had my kids when I was 24, 30 and 33, and when I took them to the zoo I also had to "pay the price" to pick them up to better see an animal now and then. It didn't feel like a penalty, though, more like fun. And, it seemed to have more to do with my kids not being very tall than with how old I was.

Why do I continue to be amazed by the rudeness of people?

I'm not only amazed by the rudness of people, I'm amazed by intrusive people who feel offended when they are rebuffed.

On earth day a colleague sent out a conservation message, and it was on top of multiple conservation messages sent by technologist/librarian/
administrator type people. I asked the colleague to remove me from his "All" list unless it directly involved students. I received a lecture in reply. I reiterated my desire to be left off of his list. He reported me to my appraisor. I was asked to apologize.

I'm still scratching my head over that one...

That's not what she was saying!. After picking up a child to look over a fence, it seems to me she was commenting on having to help younger children.

What a b*tch!

I once had a lady eyeball my 2 toddlers and newborn asking, "Are you old enough to have all those kids?" I gave her an icy, "Yeah, and I pay for them too." Then I called a girlfriend and said, "Yay, some lady just thought I was too young to have 'all' my kids!!" LOL

almost on the same subject, I was at the wal-mart in Roanoke this afternoon there was some type of sticky stuff in one of the food isles as my wife walked by this woman(a customer not an employee) said rudely to her "your walking through that your getting your shoes wet" as I walked past she said the same to me I politely told her not to worry about what I was doing. she stood there for about 20 minutes telling people not to walk through the area.

well, it's just a good thing that the kid's real mother was not a democrat or the kid would be a pile of stem cells in a petrie dish somewhere instead of getting to go to the zoo. I think the rude lady was a democrat and her rudeness was an insinuation that the child should have been aborted instead of being born to such a young mother.

I kinda have to agree with 10:14. The lady could have been referring to the child being young, not the person lifting the child. Sometimes, before jumping to conclusions, it is wise to think about how some people don't always word what their meaning to say correctly....oh, but I forget I'm relating to people that never misspell anything, leave words out when they comment, or say something meaning one thing, but sounding like they mean something else.
