I guess a whole pile of new laws will be coming along to address this epidemic, complete with a high school baseball czar, and a bunch of newly printed money.

What a sad story. But what an uplifting message from the father.

I played baseball just before and as helmets became required. I hated them ('cuse major leaguers didn't wear them). I got used to helmets as did big leaguers. No telling how many lives were saved but there is still the possibility of injury. Defensive players don't wear helmets but are still hit by batted and thrown balls. Accidents happen and you need to take reasonable precautions – or don’t play the game.

does this mean that the ACLU, the EPA, and the omama regime will outlaw baseball and turn us into a nation of soccer players? Will the females in Congress get to wade in on this? What do girls know about baseball?

Yes it is sad..

Our blog author seems to think sports is a priority in life......whether in high school or college (Baylor?)

......but he was SMART enough NOT to go in that direction...

Likely the influence of two outstanding parents.

Lucky Barry!

I'm a girl and I bet I could kick your ass in a game of baseball.

7:13 I'm guessing alot of the readers enjoy sports talk as well. Maybe you should skip the parts of the blog that don't interest you. That's what most people do.

When I was a freshman in college, Adam Cole "ear-holed" me with a fast ball. A scout told me it was at 92 mph. Unfortunatley that was early in the year and the boys gave me a ribbing for the fact that my kmees wilted. Ii don't remember much.....but they say I went down to first.
