Just got this news about Fort Worth lawyer and former judge Pete Gilfeather who occasionally came to the Wise County Courthouse:
"Pete Gilfeather passed away late this afternoon after being admitted to the hospital for injuries sustained while crossing the street entering the [Tarrant County] courthouse yesterday."

Apparently his mother just passed away on January 7 (http://www.legacy.com/DFW/Obituaries.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonId=100867059).
Wow, did he get hit by a car or something?
I would presume the leading cause of death in street crossing incidents would be being struck by a vehicle, but I'm not 100% sure or anything

That's a very dangerous crossing and I don't know why,unless so many people are concentrating on passing through to the interstate and/or mad at the timing of the lights up to that point. As rarely as I have to go there, I've nearly been run over twice. Once a side view mirror actually brushed my arm.
I dealt with Pete on a few cases. He seemed like a good man. I'll pray for his family and loved ones.
Also, I will say this. When I clicked on his on-line story.... there was an ad for a tire store really big on the banner at the top of the page. And tread marks from one side of the page to the other in red. Bad form Star Telegram, bad form.

Doctors still are not sure the cause of death seeing as how he was minutes away from being released to go home. He was a great guy, always humorous.
If the leading cause of death for attorneys is getting hit by cars at intersections near courthouses, does it follow that phone books will start getting thinner?
At least he wasn't riding a motorcycle...
