Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • A T-shirt slogan that the Evil Empire might want to rethink.
  • I was the good hubby yesterday -- took Mrs. LL to the doctor because of her wrists, picked up a kid in Roanoke, bought birthday gifts, attended a birthday party, and made a mad dash to the pharmacist to pick up meds for Mrs. LL (that I had to pay out of pocket until workman's comp gets straightened out -- man, do we need health care reform!!!!) And I dropped the 7th grader off at school today at 6:30 a.m.  for some tryout and the 2nd grader has a school play tonight. To all of you that have done stuff like that for years, Sirs  and Ma'ams, I salute you. But there's some weird satisfaction to it, isn't there?
  • The Messenger did make reference to the fight that broke out in the Decatur Eagle football game on Friday night. It referred to it as a third quarter "ugly brawl" that caused "several" players to be ejected and delayed the game for 10 minutes.  That sounds like quite the melee.
  • A Carnival Cruise Liner with about 3,300 passengers is dead in the water off the coast of Mexico.
  • Wow, AnObiter turned on MzChief.  Hey, her Scorched Earth Policy is always welcomed here.
  • For the record, the local CBS TV affiliate was the first one to break the Wade Phillips firing news. ESPN waited a full hour and then credited it's own reporter Ed Werder.
  • Pregnant lady bikini contest. My eyes!!! They're burning!!!
  • Sorry I screwed up the link to the Bush's-Momma-Put-What-In-A-Jar yesterday. Court all morning and then winning the Husband of the Year Award. Here it is if you haven't heard yet.
  • The Family Kitty is a crazy sock thief. Every time I look up that little thing is sprinting across the floor with a sock in his mouth that she's stolen from a bedroom. Dress socks, athletic socks, kid socks, women socks. I'm taking her to counseling.
  • The George W interviews to promote his new book are pretty interesting. But now he's entering Softball Question City: Hannity, Rush, and some other Fox News talking heads.
  • And there are a ton of people and a few protesters at his book signing this morning in Dallas. (Link to updated photos including a mildly hot Jane McGarry.)
  • Wade Phillips was scheduled to attend a charity event at Cowboys Stadium last night. He still showed up
  • Big girl rides a mechanical bull. Funny.
  • It dawned on me this morning that I no longer feel uncomfortable when some kid refers to me as "sir". I'm officially old.

I watched Matt Lauer with President Bush last night and thought it was a pretty good interview.

Yes, we do need medical insurance reform, NOT Obamacare!

Did you see where $16 million of YOUR tax dollars went to create 159 jobs in Dallas? VERY STIMULATING, HUH?

And who knows how much is being spent on that India vacation for the King and his court. OH MY!

Yes that sounds great lets spend a couple million for turf that 1% of the school body will use. LOL. Football is great but students learning something is more important. How many of those kids will play pro ball......... I am sure they all will lol.

Anonymous said...

Hey BG,
you have kind of left us hanging this year on Fantasy Football... whats the deal?

Anonymous said...

We're Drugs or Alcohol involved?

Anonymous said...

you cant help it when another team starts all of it. Are your kids supposed to stand there and get punched? I don't think so..

Re: Turf 10:32
what activity generates more money in the school district than football, your school has a slush fund thats about to get Robinhooded and alot of that money will be given to other schools. Decatur has the state of the art schools, so lets make it all match. It will pay for itself in the long run

Why do I get this feeling that you like to do good husband/father stuff just so you can post it on here.

Anonymous said...

I agree:

You seem to have the consistent, inhospitable habit of always being 100% right, perfect, knowledgable and above all else, entitled to superior treatment over the rest of the blogosphere.

The part I dont get:

"...and another one she submitted anonymously"

So anonymous doesnt mean anonymous?

Wow, AnObiter turned on MzChief.

Did AnObiter "turn MzChief on" or did she "turn on her"?

There's a big difference between the two.

Anonymous said...

She cant be Anon...she would accidently type in that stupid Bold and in capitals...plus when she started talking like the second coming of Christ and how great she is she would be busted..shes like Cancer, she make go away for a while but shes always there..she truly makes me sick to my Stomach...

Joey Luttrel will get to the bottom of the problems at DHS

The Decatur team won

12:01 I think anonymous means that to the readin public (us) but the blog-king/queen who runs the blog sees where they all come from. Isn't that right? We aren't really anonymous to Barry, right?

Anonymous said...

Whatever is going on at DHS, there must be kids with the right names involved; therefore, things are kept quiet. Their family status protects them. Let it be somone else and it will be posted in the newspaper with enough vagueness that no one can figure out what is being reported.

Anonymous said...

Dr. allying is on the side line of all games.
He would be able to get things corrected

Anonymous said...

why do you silly people want to make it something its not. no kids with the right name, just a fight that the other team started. let it go dhs has nothing to hide.

3:30 Lots of Capitalization, punctuation and sentence structure problems there.

And which High School did you attend...Hmmmm?

The team is in the playoffs

That is all we need to know

Eagles

Play offs slogan

We ain't done till we play one

Anonymous said...

Yes they do have something to hide!!! if they are Still planning to get turf after the voters voted NO then they are hiding it from the voters..
11:31 please tell me how it will pay for itself in the long run. if you have 5 playoff games a year and you make 10,000 per game how many years will it take to make 3 million???? Only a select few want this and they think everone needs to pay for it. if we have all the extra money then teach the kids a trade or something they can use after football.

You have yet to see the extent of my "Scorched Earth Policy."

You will see it soon enough.

Be certain to check my blog later this week and for weeks to come.

Just read where another cruise liner with about 4500 people on board is adrift of the coast of Mexico. Word to the wise, stay off of cruise liners.

It would be fun to watch Mzchief and Anobiter kiss and make up....

Oh....yes.....it would.

DHS
Things were not like this when Mrs. Reeves was there!

Anonymous said...

On December 21 2012 the Scorched Earth Policy will be in full effect.

Anonymous said...

I must have missed how the turf will pay off in the long run part?
In 30 years most of the kids wont remember if they even played football bu they will STILL be haven to PAY for the 1st turf field. think about that Jeff, Kevin, Gary. it's OUR money, not yours or Story's

Just a hint of what is to come.

This is the comment AnObiter could not bring herself to post. One of the many things I have learned about AnObiter, if someone refuses to kiss her arse, she has no use for them. This is not the first or only of my comments, in which I disagree with AnO, of which she refused to publish.

If you first read the link you will then understand my comment. Keep in mind, all weekend, AnO had derided the owners of the dog, accused them of abuse, neglect and even speculated the dog was a puppy mill dog. Of course, because it did not fit into AnO's fantasy of being the dog's saviour, it never crossed AnO's mind that the dog was wearing a collar and was a neighbour's LOST house pet. AnO is the queen of maligning people who are unable to defend themselves. My next comment will prove...

Anonymous said...

Mzchief, give it a rest! Not working!

Anonymous said...

DHS 3rd place = one and done! Story and the Turf bunch will say at least we made the playoffs. yes you did but how far will you get in life with only winning 25% of the time.

mzchief said...

AnObiter is a BULLY who cannot tolerate when someone calls her on her Mean Girl BS.

RE: Smackdown

To AnO...
What a pity you are not as scrupulously diligent about publishing ALL my comments especially the ones that make points contrary to your assumptions.

I deleted the second comment, because it was very similar to my original comment, you failed to publish prior to my reposting an expanded version of my original comment. I reposted an expanded version of my earlier comment because I gave you the benefit of the doubt, that you had not received my earliest comment rather than assuming you had declined my comment. I also deleted the second comment because I thought it was rather harsh of me to point out your unwillingness to give people the benefit of the doubt and eagerly vilify them, as you did Tinkerbell's owners, prior to learning any of the FACTS. Since you have opened that can of worms, let us see who squirms.

You making assumptions about people PRIOR to knowing the FACTS, seemingly, influences your opinion of them. Unlike you, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until I acquire FACTS that indicate they are lesser beings.

Do I think Tinkerbell's parents are good parents? Heck NO! However, I do not think much of your scheme of "rescuing" Tinkerbell that resulted in your daughter chasing the terrified dog to the point that it "jumped into the neighbor's freezing pool (with a very loud squeal)." However, I do understand you were doing what you thought was right and the best you knew to do. Perhaps, Tinkerbell's idiot owner does not know to do anything better than what they are doing.

Since you have a new found interest in posting all of my comments, it will be interesting to see if this comment is posted on this blog.

Anobiter and Mzchief, why don't you two keep your fighting to your own two blogs. No one here cares. And besides, watching the pot call the kettle black, is nothing new.

Healthcare Reform???? For a worker's comp claim????

FYI - Paying out of pocket for Kat's prescription due to a worker's comp claim has to do with worker's comp INSURANCE not healthcare.

I suggest you keep all receipts. They will reimburse you...MAYBE.
