Completely Missed This Before I Headed Off To Doctor This Morning

Awful.

Star-Telegram story.
Denton Record Chronicle story.
Dallas Morning News story (same as DRC but has comments.)

Edit: Wow. Someone already has put together a tribute to the girls.

Edit: Wow again. That Delaney Mancil was seriously injured when hit by a train earlier this year. (Past blog post about it here.)

Prayers to both families involved. These were two young, beautiful girls that will be dearly missed. May their families find comfort and peace.....such a sad day in Alvord.

Reminds everyone of the tragic Chico loss in August of 1982. Alvord HS students, teachers and friends will need the same heeling assistance for the rest of the year. It's a loss that will never be forgotton by the people that knew them.........

Lord please be with these families and the studenst of Alvord HS......I lost a firend when in HS....probably the toughest thing I have ever dealt with. I know exactly what will be going through the teams heads tonight as they do theer best to put their minds on a football game. God bless them all...the two beautiful girls are home now.

3:58, The week before school started 2 coaches and 2 varsity sophomore players were involved in an accident. The newest coach had moved into a house on Weatherford Street in Chico, the four of them were electrocuted at the residence. Coach and one player were killed and the others were seriously injured, they later recovered from the injuries. The start of school was delayed about a week to attend services and CHS students were left in a daze for the entire year. The player that was killed was a superstar and projected star college football player after his 1985 graduation, the coach was very new and never had the chance to show his talent. The entire sports program never seemed to recover after that day.
28 years later, I still wander how Scott Low and Jackie Carpenter would have changed alot of lives, we never found out, but those two would have been a positive for the youth.
TRAGIC for all the kids that had to experience that loss, you will always think "what if".

Eric and Debbie,

I am so sorry for your loss. Had lunch with my sister, Naomi on Friday. She said I don't know what to say to them. I said you don't need to say anything, just give them a big hug.

There is not anything that we can say to make this easier for you. Your life will never be the same. But hopefully you will reach a point where you are O.K.

Delaney is where we will all be some day. She will be at heaven's gate when you get there.

God bless you both. Our prayers are with you.
