I drive by this house every day. I had no idea that was the asking price.
Found through a pretty good property search engine.
And I think property prices in Decatur are extremely high when compared to all the subdivisions going up in North Fort Worth.

But they have more crime in North Fort Worth, like stealing Escalade whee.... oh wait.
I couldn't agree with you more. I live in north Fort Worth and can't believe the price on some of the houses in Decatur. But in the same breath, if people can get that much money for their house, I don't blame them for putting a large sticker price on it.
gee ya think? that's why we get calls all the time wanting outside of decatur..too high for what you get..highway robbery w/o a gun, oh wait, decatur as that too!
And why are we looking at property in Decatur? Are you thinking about moving here?
Folks, crime in north Tarrant County is no worse than in Decatur or Bridgeport on a per capita basis. And in the evil "city" we have what would be considered "good" grocery stores. Better tasting Skippy peanut butter, I guess. Basically, you get population growth in outlying areas because, no one will admit, white people want to move away from black people. Now, whites are affronted (in their minds) by all sorts of minority situations they don't like and there is nowhere to run. Blast away at me, but deep down all you white folks know it's true.
1:45 There's still Forestburg.
But in Decatur, we have the Joe Lambert grass police protecting us from mosquitoes. The roads will break your axles, but at least the grass is short.
Property values are high in Decatur because of all the fine dining available and the fat women in the dating pool.
How 'bout the house on Walnut that is now zoned commercial - the list is $239,000 (right next to a garage apartment).
There's also one on Cowan behind Braum's for $275,000. This house has been for sale off and on for the last 10 years.
Looking at the condition of some of the yards around town - we need the grass police & the not working/I'll fix it later vehicle police
It's basic economics. Decatur homes are in demand, which causes the prices to increase, but that house hasn't sold, which means maybe the asking price IS too high.
If you dare move to Forestburg, watch out for those darned tanker trucks. They'll kill ya. Oh, and be real careful on our wonderful dirt roads, they'll kill ya too.
Now that I think about it, you urban folks just stay the hell out of Forestburg - we've reached our quota on your type as well.
Sincerely,
A Forestburg Native
sorry folks, but it is going to cost ya to have the chance for your boys to play football for kyle story - that, my friend, is why property values are so high.
I am glad Joe gets on people for their grass not being cut and things looking trashy. It isn't just for the mosquitoes but taking pride in our community. Who else is going to say anything but the mayor? Joe is trying to keep the city clean so it is a nice place to live.
As soon as a couple of tract home builders like DR Horton come into town home prices will decrease in my opinion and those buying at these current prices will be SOL. It is a matter of supply and demand economics coupled with limited new housing options. I don't see many custom homes being built in Wise County for $150,000 or less. Once these larger companies get here and I predict it will happen in the next 5 years, people will be able to buy a new home "From the $120,000" like you see in the metroplex. I can't imagine people buying a fixer upper for $180,000 at that point like you have to do right now. You just can't compete with them, plus they will be giving the realtors nice incentives to bring the traffic their way.
Where in the world to start?
Drove through Decatur yesterday - better than I remember but I think that an addition to grass police personnel might be needed. Spare time they can check out the trash and non-working appliances laying around.
That house on Cowan? I hear they are going to add additional stories and turn it into a motel. The oilfield executives can stay there.
Question - if Decatur houses are in such demand why are so many for sale? Can't speak for the entire town but where I go there seem to be quite a few.
(Just for you Barry - you might consider taking a serious look at that house in the picture. Main house + the supplemental = probably enough room for you and wives 9-12.)
Sorry Forestburg - maybe another of those rumors but supposedly 2/3 of the Decatur folk selling their houses are looking your direction.
can't the mayor do something about the shit smell??
Ebby Holliday could be Helen Thomas' twin sister.
The DR Horton's won't come because there is nowhere to build and not much left to develop.
"Sorry Forestburg - maybe another of those rumors but supposedly 2/3 of the Decatur folk selling their houses are looking your direction."
My motto: If you want to live in Forestburg, you might die in Forestburg.
Ha ha - reminds me of Cactus Ridge out on 455 before you get to the deadly turn and radio towers.......FAILED!
Just remember to tell all those folks planning to move up our way that it will be AT LEAST, and probably longer than, 20 minutes before an ambulance can respond to any emergency ...(probably more time since all the bridges between Forestburg and St. Jo are under construction and the stop lights aren't working so well these days)...that will be way bad for the newcomers if they have suffered any type of traumatic injury, (i.e., falling off a horse, impaling themselves on any tractor implement, head-on'd by a tanker truck, rolling their car over on a dirt road because the city-types like to drive so fast, and especially a house fire), heart attack, diabetic coma, family violence, drug overdose, random gunshot wound, snake bite, hitting a black cow or deer in the middle of the FM road at night.....
And don't forget to remind them they need a REALLY DEEP WATER WELL, otherwise, they'll be drinking POISON, (thanks oil and gas industry!), and a nice SEPTIC SYSTEM, otherwise, they'll be able to smell their own SHIATE. Maybe you know how deep the limestone base is up here.
Oh, and don't swim in any of the lakes, ponds or creeks - we get the dredge from all the dairy farms. That is some serious shiate.
But, all that being said, at least we can buy wine here on Saturdays and Sundays. That makes it much better. Which reminds me, I haven't bought any Forestburg wine today.
P.S. I'd recommend Silver Creek on 287 near Bowie - they have better ammenities, they are just off 287 - I'm just not sure if their Baptist Church is bigger than Forestburg's.
Wow 4:20. Why don't you just read it out loud and get it out of your system?
Spare us your nonsense!
