Raining Men, Part 2

Link.

This scandal is very strange. But random thoughts:

(1) He was an idiot to plea to even disorderly conduct.
(2) He was an idiot to even talk to the cop.
(3) It was wrong for the cop to discuss how the case could ultimately be resolved in the courts.
(4) He "probably" was trying to solicit some gay sex, but the State could never prove it "beyond a reasonable doubt."
(5) His political career is over.
(6) Here's a question that no one asks: It's against the law to solicit/ask for gay sex? I mean, he wasn't trying to buy it which would make it a prostitution case. He was, at the most, asking. I mean, if the senator had hit on a guy at the hotel bar would that have been illegal?

The 6th point you made is what I have been thinking all along.

Exactly. That point was being made in the earlier blog. Since when is it illegal to gesture or to flirt? Even if your intention is to go find somewhere to "do it"...is that a crime? What if he had simply asked the guy in the next stall if he wanted to go have a beer or something? Aren't people trying to pick up each other in public places all the time? Will everyone at the bar in Cool River Cafe tonight be arrested for winking, or accidently rubbing shoulders, or any other gestures which are as much a signal of interest as a toe tap?

I understand in Minnesota it is illegal to solicit and the police's case was based on repeated signals from Craig that he wanted sex. He was stupid to plead guilty but he was counting on this disappearing. When it was picked up by the media then he claimed he was innocent. He has lied about every aspect of this case which is making things worse.

So whats wrong with being gay? In Canada a gay Member of Parliament got married last month. It wasn't long ago blacks, women, Jews, Catholics, you name it, couldn't get elected.

Sad. Sad. Sad. This man is surely gay but, because many in our society won't accept gay people, he has lived his whole life as a lie. His whole family is now suffering for his lie.

Oh! Canada! Show us the way.

MY GAYDAR IS OVER HEATING OVER THIS STORIE

What's wrong with him being gay is that he was so against gay rights, he will look like a hippocrite, plus he's married. I agree, though, that unless he exposed himself to the cop, or something else actually "lewd" he didn't really commit a crime. From this story, I learned that if I'm taking a dump in a public bathroom and some dude taps my foot with his foot, I need to leave unless I want an invitation to a buggering.

Don't bring an iPod into a public bathroom in Minnesota if you are likely to tap your foot to the music.

It is not against the law to be gay, but it was not a pick-up gesture to follow him outside the area for the fun, but rather just go at it in the stall. For which, are the charges he plead guilty too. Now, that was his dumb part, because he could have said he was just looking for some toilet paper, and did not understand the sexual signs. Stupid politician ruined his whole lie filled life with the truth.

9:46, yeah I get your point, but does "soliciting" mean just indicating an interest in asking for sex? Is this guy really in trouble because he made gestures in a public place indicating he wanted to have sex with someone? OMG we don't have enough jail cells in this country to hold us all.

Ok, BG we get the idea the man should have had a good lawyer.

But why didn't the dumba$$ find a gay prostitute if he likes that kind of activity?

Then he wouldn't be in this mess with the Democrats who are using this to the hilt right before election time.

Sex kills more folks than guns.

I am so glad to know what Canadians think and how the Canadian government leaders aren't afraid to publicly proclaim, "I like Dick".

The main problem is that Senator Craig is a liar - and just about everyone knows it. Gay, or a solicitor, or just plain stupid. It doesn't matter. Just don't lie to us when the truth is so obvious. Bill Clinton should have taught you this lesson.

The main difference between Larry Craig and Bill Clinton? Craig didn't look for action in the women's rest room.
