Most of my practice is DWI defense and, of all the things in life I don't know, I do think I'm pretty well versed in DWI law.
That being said, I love this lawyer's
blog out of Austin. The guy is smart and a good writer. I read it all the time and learn something every now and then.
I've only caught him in one error which is an amazing track record considering how much he writes.
If you care about DWI law, check it out. If you don't, ignore this post.

There is absolutely no point in this kid doing anything to try to educate others about her poor decisions. It will happen again, and again, and again. We just don't get it. It wasn't us, so it wasn't real. Until it happens to us. Then it's too late. No matter the idiocy, those making poor decision are aware of dozens, hundreds, maybe even thousands of instances as to why the decision they are about to make is bad...yet the same bad decisions get made every day, every night. So what's this girl's "story" going to mean to anyone? History says nothing. This weekend, we'll see some more carnage.
thank you barry for keeping these drunks on the street. it means alot to me. you are special.
Thanks for sharing that link; it was very interesting!
Drinking and driving kills innocent poeple, breaks up families, cost the tax payers billions a year in insurance premiums and causes unwanted births but on the other hand, what a better way to spend the afternoon in court beating the "Man" at his own game.
Barry, it's a shame that if the Lowe boy was stopped by law enforcement before the crash that killed 3 and paralyzed 1, then you or your kind would have defended him. Then he may have been free to have this same kind of crash all over again. How I do wish he would have been stopped, but not defended. Those who drive under the influence need to be prosecuted and serve their punishment so they don't inflict punishment on the innocent. Punishment does work. My husband was caught when he was a young man, served his punishment, and has never been tempted to drive drunk again. He said he never wants to spend another night in jail (and he only spent one night, main punishment was a fine and probation).

"causes unwanted births"???????
Defending those accused of DWI doesn't mean they all get set free. It only means that their legal rights are represented and, hopefully, an appropriate judgment is rendered. BTW - I've driven after drinking and have even had a drink while driving and have never had an accident. There is a difference between drinking and being drunk. That's what is sometimes decided in a court proceeding.
