Tom is above the Texas Rangers, the DPS, the Sheriff and all city police chiefs in Wise County!! Also, if I'm not mistaken, I believe a constable has the power to arrest the sheriff.(Barry, look that up in your Funk & Wagnalls, please, and get back with us). Electins were on the 4th. By the 7th, newly elected Constable Tom Bishop has already pissed off the Judge. He wants the County to buy him a new truck, at County bid price (which means the County buys the truck with County money ) and give it to him....to keep. That and he still gets his $17K a year auto allowance..........

Most of this blame should be pointed at the Republican controlled and operated Wise County Messenger.
They refused to publish "letters to the editor" that endorsed Conservative Democrats of Wise County supposedly because self imposed time limits on articles. But they did run an article on Democrats taking your guns .... a great "Hot Button" issue sure to capture all the swing voters. Maybe they should have run an article about voting and putting a gun in the hands of certifiable nut case!

Just about NOW I am feeling BETTER than REALLY good about only having voted for John McCain, David Walker and The Libertarian Candidate everywhere possible. I also voted AGAINST the tax for Weatherford College. Why should ANY institution that charges for their services be entitled to a single red cent of the taxes paid by hard working taxpayers?

I'm scared crazy about Bishops' election, and YES, I recall the 80s and all the BS that Bishop caused/was the center of. I have to say tho, that Dennis Hudson isn't a PEACH either... especially to women! He got a bit of a "big head" himself and could be much more cordial to folks that he is. Maybe this is a wakeup call to him and the way he treats people from day to day. I've been to his station several times to have him turn me away (for inspection of my vehicle) because he was too busy sitting out with the boys and chit chatting. He worked when he wanted and when he didn't... he treated those who came to his station like DIRT!! He's gruff, and tries to be "intimidating" but that isn't what comes across... he comes across as an A'h**e! It's pretty sad when people have had enough of HIS arrogance that they choose Tom Bishop instead of him. Too bad Wise County didn't have any other choice. Someone needs to keep that in mind for next election because neither of these men should be in public service. I will say one thing for Hudson over Bishop.... he may be an A'h**e, but he isn't dangerous! Bishop is a nut case who should be institutionalized! God help us all!

Ignorance is bliss, and there apparently is plenty of it in Precinct 1. How anyone who actually knows anything about Tom Bishop would vote for him for anything is beyond my belief. so I can only assume that most of you who pulled that Staight Republican lever didn't go to the trouble to even know anything about the people you voted for. Nothing wrong with supporting a Republican, but electing a hot tempered Nutcase who has a known history of such conduct for the past 20+ years is an entirely different matter. Thank God I don't live in Precinct 1. Just wish I didn't have to drive through it trying to get to Fort Worth and Denton.

i hated to see that dennis lost he is a great man and did great at his postion. i hope that mr bishop will be able to keep things out of the press however i like the fact that we have a person who is tough on immigration. dennis lost because the wise wctive democrats were more invovled in the obama mccain race than the bishop hudson race the only one that they could have won in this county. good luck tom please behave

If I do not approve of the politics of EITHER candidate it is not MY responsibility to vote for the lesser of two evils. Just because someone elects to NOT vote against a candidate does not mean they voted for the winner of the election.

How does any of you know what the Wise Active Dems did? We did help Dennis Hudson a lot and we didn't work for Obama, we only worked for local and state candidates. It is stupid people not paying attention to who they are voting for that got Tom Bishop elected and you who did it deserve him and I feel sorry for the rest that have to live in his precinct and those that have to drive through his area.

Just how many of us are really that informed about everybody we vote for? I think this is why folks vote a straight ticket. They just take a chance that the person running for the office has to be ok if they endorse the same political party as they do.
Only knew one man in my life that DID take the time to do the homework on every candidate he voted for. Never agreed with him on his choices, but appreciated his informed vote.

This is a man who had dedicated his adult life not to the minutemen but to the state and country we all love.
He does outstanding work with the Civil Air Patrol. He guides, trains and teaches our youth about aircraft, gliders and their civic duties. The CAP and it's leaders teach kids self-disciple which too many parents don't. That is one of the reasons we have so many kids in trouble with the law.
This man flies rescue missions when planes go down or when there are hurricanes. He flies our skies looking for grassfires to protect our homes. He has also flown recent missions training our military through the Civil Air Patrol.
He is a retired airline pilot. He is retired military. He is now an elected official who deserves a little respect or at the very least our support.
My mama taught me that if I didn't have something nice to say to keep my mouth shut. I think this is a lesson you all need to learn.
The links on Tom Bishop's website have been all over the internet for months. You all have seen them over and over unless you have your head in a hole. This is no new information.
Just because the liberal media wouldn't tell any of the things they should have about Obama doesn't mean eductated people shouldn't do their research on all the information about their President. I for one watched and read all the good and bad on both Presidential nominees. I went to the polls educated on what each one stood for. I wish more people had done the same.

Unfortunately for Dennis and other very qualified local candidates on the Democratic ballot, this election was more about fear of left wing liberals taking over our country than anything else, especially local issues and candidates which have nothing at all to do with national politics.
The emotion was so high against the ultra liberal Obama ticket locally that the repercussions from that fear cost Wise County the loss of very well qualified local office holders in this election, of which Dennis was one. That fear and anger by many Wise County residents, from both parties I might add, caused a complete Republican sweep.
This same fear also caused most voters to focus only on the Presidential candidates' qualifications and backgrounds and focus almost nothing on the local candidates and their qualifications, or lack there of, for the offices they were seeking.
Enjoy it fellow Wise County residents because you obviously wanted it.

To the poster (729PM) who said Dennis was not considerate and courteous to woman at his Fina station. I have no idea who you are madame, but I can say that you are full of it regarding Dennis and how he treats women. He is nothing but courteous, and nothing but one of the most considerate men/business men in Wise County when it comes to women coming into his service station. He bends over backward to accomodate his female customers. I know, I'm one of those people that he talks to at the station and I have seen this type of behavior from him 100% of the time.
I also suspect that you madame are one of those people who believes that when YOU show up, a business person should drop anything they are doing because YOU have arrived and YOU are there. He's probably better off now because you obviously do not come to his service station anymore.

I have done business with Dennis Hudson for years and always experienced him as curteous and helpful at his station. I think maybe he ask me to come back for my car inspection , as he didn't have time to do it right then,but I said I would, thanked him and did just that. I'm sorry you have not had the same experience with Mr. Hudson. Do you think maybe you have an attitude?
If Dennis didn't have time to inspect your car, it is because he was getting ready to serve papers in his OWN truck. Wait til you are paying for a new vehicle with the new guy.

Wrong 2:42, only residents of Precinct 1 voted for Precinct 1 Constable just as they were the only ones to vote in the Precinct 1 Commissioners race. None of those candidates were on my ballot in Precinct 2. Of course, the truth is, it probably wouldn't have made a difference since most of the the voters of the other three precincts would have also voted a straight Republican ticket as well.

To your question, yes, that is basically correct.
When voting for county commissioner or constable, only those voters in that particular precinct (1, 2, 3 or 4) would find those races on their ballots. So three-fourths of the county did not have the Bishop-Hudson race on their ballot.
You can thank your 1800s Texas Constitution for that.

YES, when I go to a business and see the owner chitchatting with "the boys" I expect him to get up and greet his customer and then TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS! Is that not what is expected of any customer that goes into a business? If he were busy with other customers, fine. That was not the case the first time, the second time, nor the third and my last time there. I'm sure if you are a "regular" there, then he takes care of you just fine. Why did the Tom Bishop comments stop? Are you guys just going to sit back and watch him take over the constable's office? Isn't there anyone with information about this man that could cause his police officer status to be revoked? This man has done way too many bad things in this county for no one to know something substantial. Ask around and you will find what you need. This man is extremely dangerous and something should be done. Don't forget who will be Precinct 1's constable. You guys have given him an enormous amount of power and should be very afraid.
