As I Move Slowly On A Cloudy Saturday . . .

(Link to story.) . . . I'm still convinced the death penalty is barbaric for a civilized society.

Well maybe the defense attorneys can convince the jury that these people are just big stem cells.

well spoken for a liberal defense attorney... as for me, there are those who deserve it. So as Ron White says, if it makes me feel better, than great!

If we are such a civilized society, why then are there so many knifings, shootings, rapes, children abused and killed, road rage incidents, spousal abuses, home invasions, bullyings, etc. Sounds like this is an emerging third world country with no respect for any laws or other human beings. Perhaps some of the defense attorneys should rethink their quests to prove their obviously guilty clients innocent while the victims suffer physical, mental and monetary pain.

I'm a journalist who recently did a story on the justice system, and believe me, defense attorneys are a necessity. don't badmouth Barry because he's a defense attorney. Like I was told in an interview for my story, "if the defense attorney does his job, if the prosecution does its job and the jury does its job, then justice is served."

As flawed as it may seem, this is still the best justice system in the world. Try to be thankful for that if you're ever the one being accused of a crime!

After working on that story, Barry, I applaud your choice of profession. Keep it up!

One thing is a fact in this wonderful system which we enjoy. Attorney's are millionaires and wealthy people do not pay for their crimes or feel the consequences of their actions.

As for your article, Bullshit. If a defense attorney does his job then he finds an arbitrary inconsequential fact and claims someone's civil rights have been voilated until they are cleared. How many people do you know of that have been incorrectly accused of drunk driving?? Now how many do you know that have been arrested and gotten off with no consequences?? exactly!!

When your child is laying in a ditch bleeding from a car accident caused by a drunk driver -- you can be thankful that we have this wonderful system that allowed the drunk driver to get by with it the first four times.

How ignorant, 10:00 p.m.--"Attorneys are millionaires". Surprisingly to you, most are NOT. Leave your non-thinking knee-jerk bitter statements off the blog. What is the old, wise saying? "Better to remain silent and have people wonder if you're a fool or not, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

10:00 Source that ignorant comment please.

Corporate attorneys may be millionaires and those are the ones who most often prey on working people. Other attorneys are just working people who most often protect working people from the corporate attorneys.

If there is no link, TxSheehan can't think for herself.

and your point is? said...

There are too many innocent people in jail and on death row to say that the death penalty is a just cause.
Our justice system is a bit flawed but it is the best we have and the attorneys are only doing their jobs. Thank God for good attorneys or you may be the innocent one on death row!

Can you name any innocent people that have been put to death?

Google The Innocence Project

However objection to the death penalty because of innocence is the wrong approach to take, imo. Why? It degrades us as a society to stoop to the same level as murderers. Society should stand forthrightly against violence of any sort, and that means standing against killing of any sort. Life in prison without parole? You bet. But not execution.

so i guess God is a murderer,
the death penalty was His idea

I think the death penalty should be more barbaric. I vote for hanging people, whipping them with canes, cutting off hands, and anything else that will deter the stupid morons of this world.

If a little kid was to see a man missing a hand because he stole, then chances are he would think twice before stealing himself.
