From Another DMN Story

County Commissioner Salaries Ellis County: $72,381 Johnson County: $65,112 Tarrant County: $116,506 Collin County: $96,471 I don't know what Wise County Commissioners make and I'm too lazy to call Katherine Canova, the County Treasurer.

I think they make around $72K plus $12K for a car allowance.

I may be off a little, but not much.

What do we get for the $. I think the commissioners should donate their salary to the road and bridge fund!!!

They make too much to justify their foney-balony jobs. Vote ALL of 'em out and let's get some STATESMEN instead of POLITICIANS in local office!

Elections are just around the corner. I know for a fact that I will NOT be voting for Kevin Burns and absolutely under no conditions would I vote for Paul Cunningham, the current Fire Marshall. Both are hypocrites and will lie to your face. Investigate before you cast your ballot.

Not too soon to get rid of Dick Chase too!!

But won't whoever we vote in make the same salary?

Whoooaa!
Wise County Commissioners are PAID!
If you want to know what they are paid to do the WCM has a partial list. None too surprising is the fact that the WCM makes NO mention of how MUCH the commissioners are paid for their services.

To 2:18 p.m. You can't vote for or against the Fire Marshall, because he is not an elected official. And Dick Chase is already gone, because he lost during the nomination phase.

County commmissioners and city council people should be well paid. If you have these as basically volunteer jobs, then you limit the number and quality, or you skew the candidates to those that already have plenty of money, are retired, etc. If you want to encourage quality candidates, then a salary is needed so those candidates can afford to serve. Now, if a county or city is already paying well for the positions and still is not happy with those in office, well that's the voters' fault.

Well now, if we go to a unit system and hire one dude to manage county roads at a huge salary to do what the commissioners are already supposedly doing, we'll be out more tax dollars.

Better keep that in mind when voting for your next commissioner.

Kinda sounds like a double dip to me.

Wish I made that kinda money to only work 4 days a week. Thats if they even bother. Everyone knows there foremans are the ones who do the real work. Bet the other county employees got screwed again this year.

8:44 - yes, and bear in mind one commissioner makes that kind of money and didn't even finish high school.

How about that for the importance of an education?

To 3:45 - The current Fire Marshall Paul Cunningham is running for County Commissioner, I believe Precinct 2 according to the WCM Update, approximately one month ago.

Welcome To Crackland!

Knowing from two decades worth of personal experiences that at least one commissioner is a certifiable simpleton and now (thanks to anonyNOTHING 11:29) learning another commissioner was unable/unwilling to make it through high school makes me wonder WHAT was anonyNOTHING 4:31 referencing when they stated "If you want to encourage quality candidates, then a salary is needed so those candidates can afford to serve."

I sincerely hope and pray that the current commissioners are NOT representative of what exemplifies ”quality candidates” in Wise County.

Paul Cunningham is not running for commissioner. Pct 2 has an ems employee running against him. Which by the way we have heard nothing from him!! You get what you vote for the voters should choose more wisely!

Too many good ole boys. We need people who can get the job done or more commisioners to handle the load. Wise County is growing.

Growth, we are 20 years behind
