. . . takes off at Decatur Airport and uses almost all the runway to do it. Hope no one yells "abort! abort!"
(Thanks emailer.)

That plane is about 1,000 feet, or about three football fields in length, from the end of the runway. It's an optical illusion. Don't believe me? Call the airport or get on Google Earth and measure how far it is from the end of the runway (on either end) to the spot between the fourth and fifth stripe where the plane's shadow is.
I recall when they built that new longer runway, they wanted to insure that lear jets, and even smaller commercial jets would have the room they needed for takeoffs and landings. I think they have been taking off and landing safely in Decatur, ever since.
4:54, you might wany to check take-off distance for a nearly fully loaded (5 passengers and topped off with fuel) for a Cessna Citation 5. Decatur r/w is 4,200 ft., my book shows it needs 4,780 at 5000ft. ASL. Decatur is 1,100ft asl.
He used 3/4 of the runway. 4:54 is right about the optical illusion, but that doesn't leave much margin for error. I'd hate to try that in bad weather.
As taxpayers we should be asking what kind of return are we getting on the money that was spent to lengthen the runway. I believe a lot of the money came from a federal grant but where do you think that money came from?
I moved here eight years ago and all I have seen is spend, spend, and spend. Everything is based on the growth but I just don't see that much growth. In Decatur I see a lot of vacant retail spaces, for rent signs and for sale signs. My fear is how are we going to pay for all this?

That's great unless it takes 5 football fields to stop. Then it's the ole Ron White, "I don't believe we have enough equipment to do the job".
I concur.

What makes you think there's a pregnant woman on board?
Were drugs or alcohol involved?
That is AssTapper's private jet. He was headed to Vegas for a gig.

The plane is owned by Planned Parenthood. Do not abort, I repeat, do not abort. Crash! Crash!
