Can We Get Their Views On Flag Burning?

"As country music played* and a pack of Marlboro menthols sat idly by, some bar patrons at a local watering hole in West Allis, WI burned an effigy of Barack Obama and cheered. Wisely, they took video. Here it is."

Flag is a symbol of the country...Obama is just a passing political hack.

Not a problem with the effigy; at least they just burned his likeness, which is less than he deserves. Not sure what the flag has to do with it....the flag does NOT represent Obammy. It represents America, which he definitely does not.

1:06 - AMEN!!!

If people in this Country can burn the American Flag and nothing is done, what the hell is wrong with burning the effigy of Obama. The Secret Service wants to talk to these people if they haven't already, so then I guess the Department of Homeland Security needs to speak to every moron that burns an American flag to make sure they're not Terrorist. Jeez!!

So, the problem is.............?
That could'nt have been an effigy of Obama as it took way too long to burn. As empty and thin-skinned as he is, I'd imagine his effigy would be ashes in no more than 2 seconds!

Obama = the "anti" flag

He is an American hating marxist.

Burning an Obama symbol is not realy an insult, but throw a shoe, holy allah, that is an insult.

The flag is a symbol for America, not a certain person as with any country. Other countries burn our flag as a symbol of hatred for every American citizen, legal or not. We have allowed other countries to try and tarnish our name, pride, symbol and significance. Unfortunately, they fail to realize that we are the single biggest fund and food supplier to other countries on the face of the earth. Americans who burn the flag are dumbasses, but they do have that right. The flag used to mean something, but the colors do run, sorry to say. The are running because our government welcomes illegal imigration and bows to other countries when we try and stop it.

Our United States of America is becoming the man servant of the world. We have an opinion but can't express it while doing everyones work for them and still being the whipping boy.

I thought Obama was already burned lookin.

As anti-Obama administration as I am, I can't approve of something like this. It perpetuates stereotypes and gives ammunition to the Liberal (mis)characterization of those who feel as I do.

As noted, the pack of Marlboros did not take active part in the burning. The cigarettes are innocent of any wrongdoing.

When the pres goes so far as to criticize a state for UPHOLDING THE LAW and protecting our borders, that man needs something more than an effigy-burning.

I wonder if those people in Wisconsin, merely, took a page from the book of Bush Effigy Burners in; Chicago 2006 or the sore winners/Obama supporters; Creepy Dudes 2009 and Washington, D.C. 2009?

To Danny Boy...
The classless Obama supports were throwing shoes and rocks at an inflatable effigy of "W" prior to Obama's inauguration.

It is disgusting how people encourage there children to act like uncivilized scum and then hiss and spit about how disrespectful are today's youth.

They should have hung it first, then burned it.

Don't you think Obama wants what's best for USA? Why are you so scared?

May I be serious for a moment?

Today, modern political discourse seems to bring out our worst features as Americans, not our best. When President Bush was savaged by the left, then President Obama is savaged by the right, you have to ask when common decency will shine through. I am NOT saying agree with a person's politics. I am NOT saying remain quiet & on the sidelines. Advocate for your ideas vigorously and with enthusiasm. But, there should be no place for personal attacks. When you are not happy with your elected officials, vote them out. Until then, show respect for the office and the institution, even if you don't respect the individual. Free speech also carries the responsibility of knowing what speech is appropriate and when. My opinion, fellow citizens. And you, as free Americans, are entitled to your own. All I ask is that you think before you comment or act. Enough.

I don't understand many of you. I understand that burning things may be considered political speech and it may be protected. That just means that they don't deserve a jail sentence.

But, because you don't like (or possibly hate) Obama, you see the act of burning his likeness as acceptable or even a good idea. And you try to draw some silly distinction between him and the flag because of your political position. (Same goes for those that did the same to Bush.)

Yet, what you have failed to understand is that condoning any such activity diminishes the respect that is due not only to the President, but to any elected official, military member, policeman, fireman, teacher, etc.

We either teach respect for the position. Or we don't.

Disagreement...sure. Political discourse...you bet. But disrespect is not something to teach, practice, or condone. Ever.

Amen, 4:50.

431 - I think Obama wants what HE thinks is best for the USA -- internationalization, Europeanization and centralization (in both the political and sociological sense.) And yes, the idea that he might succeed scares me.

450 - Disrespect is in the eye of the beholder. Is it disrespectful for anyone to ask Obama tough questions? He apparently thinks so. If the office of the President is to be respected (which I believe it is,) then the holder of that office should in return respect American citizens (which I believe Obama does not.)

This President diminishes the importance of freedom and the US constitution and he gets a pass by the media while doing so.

I am capable of having respect for police officers, fire fighters, and teachers, but not this president.

Those who believe Barrack Hussein wants what is best for this country are hoping for that peaceful utopia that will never exist. Barrack wants total control.

sheeeesh 4:50, it is time for you to grow up! People EARN respect by their actions of doing good earnest and lawful deeds. I have a great deal of respect for the office of the President of the United States, but not for the PERSON who trashes the responsibilities of that office and takes on a more Hitler type regime.
It isn't Disrespect that is occurring with Americans, it is a REVOLUTION against a man who represents a movement to remove America's principles and culture.
I think possibly you are still a child at heart and still want what was your ideal world that you grew up in. You recall your parents teaching you to have respect for the leaders of our country. I understand that...because I too want that ideal world. But, I am grown and mature enough to realize I can't sit back and EXPECT things to rock along like they used to and be all ok. This country, for the first time in its history, has a President who is very obviously Anti American values and principles.... he has SAID so with his actions and his words! He is divisive and is in a position to completely tear apart our constitution and OUR RIGHTS! Do you get that?
Has this man earned your respect by his actions.... or are you just still thinking the office of president is still honorable?! Grow up! Your elders fought to keep America right for you...... now it's your turn to fight to keep it right for your children and grandchildren. Have some RESPECT for the men and women who have given their lives over the many years and wars to KEEP AMERICAN values! I have a lot more respect for them than I do for a community organizer who just happens to be a very talented orator. But that is where his talents end. He is NOT a leader....he is not good for this country!

9:07,
Shut up. You're an idiot. You almost bored me to death and I didn't even get past the first line of your drunken rant.

Anonymous said...

What do you mean Pres. Obama doesn't represent the US?
He IS the President of the US. He's my president; I helped to elect him - and he won by a significant margin.

To say that the President of our country does not represent our country is idiotic. He represents me; he represents all of us - just as George W did. I may not have liked Bush's policies, but he was still my president since I am a US citizen.

So all you people settle down and wait for your next chance in our democracy to elect someone else. But until at least 2013 - he's your president. Critisize him if you want, but he's still OUR president. Those of that voted Obama into office get to have a person we believe in, because he won the election. That's the way it works in a Democracy.

9:07 - That is only YOUR OPINION! That doesn't give you the right to try to destroy this country as it is now, just because you don't like our President.

You, in fact, remind me of a spoiled brat that didn't get his way and is trying to get the entire country to revolt as a result.

PLEASE - don't call yourself a Patriot - you are a hater.
