Wow, I went to school with the guy who did that. That's crazy, I'm in shock. Those poor kids!

Intoxication manslaughter x 2. What will happen to the drunk driver, Barry? Time spent in jail, etc. when he goes to trial?

How very sad. A family killed and a young mans life ruined. I know we always say it wont happen to me but drinking and driving has devastating effects.

Everyone involved needs our prayers.

6:30, may I ask, without coming across as a jerk, what kind of prayer is needed? What do we ask God to do after the fact? Maybe the best prayer is "God, please change your mind and don't cause another wreck tonight."

8:08 You're not a jerk but a fool. God did not cause that wreck. He gives man a free will and since the begining of time, man has continued to make bad choices as in this tragedy.

8:39, Just a comment. You are correct in the fact God does give man free will however, the Bible does say, "call no man a fool".
Just a thought. It's a sad story in which words cannot express however, prayers for the family seems most appropriate.

Why are you asking Barry? He thinks the one who killed them should be set free because it was just a mistake! And then we can hear Barry complain about how terrible MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is and how it is ridiculous that MADD tries to fight for tougher DWI laws.

Of course, Barry tries to set these fine upstanding drunks free every chance he gets! Great job Mr. Defense attorney! He only killed those kids' parents and almost killed the kids too. What a wonderful outlook you have. Of course, I'm certain you would think differently if this happened to your loved ones. Oh, wait a minute... you don't have a family. Maybe this is the reason you have all of this free time to come up with these brilliant views on how "your" society should be.

Answer to the question "what will happen". He will no doubt go to prison, even if it was his first EVER offense. People rarely get probation for this offense (see the guy who killed the four Brock cheerleaders). Next time anyone who reads this drinks and then thinks about driving--think about what happens to these people who kill someone while driving intoxicated. Almost always prison!

8:56, Why do you visit this blog if you hate Barry so much? Unlike you, I have the utmost respect for Barry Green. And, I assure you he is well respected by many others in this community. He is and has always been an important part of Wise County. Heck, I haven’t seen him in years and I think I would blush if I saw him now. (Good Gawd… am I gonna catch hell for that)

He defends the defenseless. Be glad there are people out there who want to fight for your rights. If you were in that kid’s shoes, you would.

8:54, you're right about 8:39. I should have said "it is better to remain silent and appear a fool than speak and remove all doubt."

And exactly what defense should that be? Try your best to set a killer free? Just because Barry's family has money and he's always had a silver spoon in his mouth (and probably something else in there too), doesn't mean he is respected.

I could care less if Barry's family has money. If you’re so shallow that you think having money gains a person respect then you are dumb.

Maybe you should read the previous post once again R&R since you obviously didn't understand it. Moron.

To 8:08...
The type of prayer I pray in this type of situation is much the same prayer I pray for ALL people. "May ALL those who are touched by the tragedy of this unfortunate turn of events be comforted by their love and devotion to God. May their knowledge of and guidance by God permit their hearts and bodies to recover and move forward in a positive and more knowledgeable frame of mind."

SOME people who pray to God do not DEMAND God grant them FAVOURS but merely seek GUIDANCE and COMFORT.

All too often people FORGET that God is SPIRITUAL and does not dabble in the PHYSICAL aspects of HUMAN life.

We might pray that the kids are not permanently traumatized by this, that there is family to take them in, and the resources to raise them to adulthood.

We might pray that the young driver might seek forgivness and some sort of redemption after he has served his time.

We might even seek prayer for some of the writers on this blog...that they too might seek forgiveness and learn the wisdom of the old Korean proverb that "the cut of a knife heals quickly, but the cut of a word takes a lifetime."

2:19,
You missed Mzchief's point because you're still asking God for favors and to intervene in people's lives. I like Mzchief's prayer better because she makes it clear that it's up to people to make their life better and can do it when they're inspired by God. God doesn't do shit for people just like God doesn't do shit to people. God just makes it so that people can do shit for themselves. Pray the way you want to but I bet I'm a lot less disappointed in God and the outcome of my prayers than you are in yours.

Just some friendly advice for you. If the shit people say on a blog cuts you so much that it takes a lifetime for you to heal, you need to step away from your computer and take a long walk in the real world.

You better believe it! God surely does intervene in lives of people..........while I am sure the most frequent intervention is strength to endure almost un endurable events.........and while God usually doesn't remove the cut of a word from our memory bank, he empowers us to get on with life.

I won't need to move away from my computer, but I will offer a prayer that you experience a much more kindly, powerful God in the near future........and won't feel the need to put certain words in the same sentence with the name of God!

I am amazed at the depth of stupiduty you all are capable of once god is mentioned. A history book in place of a bible would serve you well.

I am sure you can get him off of the DWI/Intox Manslaughter charge. If you look real hard at the case, I am sure you will see a t that was not crossed.

Does that mean God doesn't physically heal people...

Physical miracles don't exist?

My faith is crushed!

How wise you are Obewon... can I worship you instead?

Read the MESS, this pour guy attended his uncle's funeral the day before he died coming from his church.
NOBODY made that connect....
Perry Derring was in the obituary and he was a kin-folk of him (Jacksboro English, please follow the story)(uncle). The night after the funeral he attended his church. He was killed with his wife that had already lost her 2 baby daddy (Chico) in another accident. Those kid's will never want to drive @ all.
