It would be really nice if everyone would just let this story go. It is over. I personally know the family, have for 20 years, and they are good people. Please have respect for those with problems or medical conditions. I personally do not think that Jim would have every hurt anyone but am glad that all efforts were taken to keep his family and schools safe. At the end of the day, it is Jim that has hurt himself more than anyone else ~ except his children. Move on to the next story.

2:16 said, " I personally do not think that Jim would have every hurt anyone.."

Tell me 2:16, did you think he would have ever threatened his family and friends (100) with such a brutal death by his own hand?

I didn't think so. But, he did, didn't he.

Why is a guy who's just been taken into custody, for allegedly making death threats against his spouse and after an armed standoff with police, not in cuffs?

BTW..."good people" don't threaten the lives of other people. If he's not just a moron, jerk or bonkers then he's evil and by most standards none of those options allows for being "good people."

Seems to me, that the police, who would be in the know of what really went on out there, didn't feel he was a danger to them or at least these two paramedics.

I have know Warden for a long time, he would do anything to help you out! He is a good guy, made some terrible choices in the last few days! Instead of tearing him down, pray for him and his family:
"If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived." Galatians 6:1 MSG

A special thanks to our district and every branch of law enforcement for your actions and efforts to ensure the safety of the children in our community.

Thank you again,

The public not only has a right to form an opinion of a person based on his or her actions, but they most assuredly will form an opinion. Warden may have been a decent fellow years ago, but everyone must be held accountable for their actions. Being a good sort in school doesn't mean one should be kept exempt from facing consequences for any wrongdoing they do later. He is 43. He has a history that already follows him that is pretty muddy. He is not the same that he was back in the day.
I am shocked to see that he is not cuffed in this picture. I thought there was a law that said these people must be cuffed when taken into custody, period!
I am proud of law enforcement's handling this situation and preventing a 100 black coffins being needed, but I am appalled that they seem to be applying the good ol boy treatment to this guy! Is this the kind of reputation Wise County will have for itself: Come terrorize our citizens, cause our schools to lock down while your wreak havoc and take the attention of every law official in the county and we'll be so sweet to you you won't want to do it again? Is that what our law enforcement wishes for this county?
I would love to hear the explanation as to why this man is not cuffed and in shackles! Please let's not hear that he is even eligible for bail! If the county turns him loose on bail, what is to prevent his doing this again? And please don't say, oh he's learned his lesson. We are not his mommy! We are a county who expects the law to finish this job and this man should be punished to the full extent of it!
Prayers? Yes, indeed, pray for him and his family. But the way some of you people speak on the blog indicates you wouldn't want anyone to go to jail for anything they did at all, instead, they should just receive prayers?
You may be a "friend" of his (and does that mean you were in his sites?), but don't make yourself an idiot by thinking he needs to escape real justice!

The definition of a "good person" is someone who treats their wife, children , friends and community with respect. Repeatedly and publicly calling the mother of your children a "whore" automatically moves you out of the " good person" category. The other stuff cements the departure.

Can he redeem himself? Absolutely! Will he? It is completely up to him. I pray for him and his family.

Warden didn't threaten anyone specific and the threat was vague at best. He was no where near the schools when he was apprehended. These charges will not stick.

Kara Curry Shriver, you are a wonderful person. You have compassion and a good heart.

If they would have sent in Dennis Hudson, Jimmy would have turned himself in and saved tax dollars. He would not have used cuffs either, the media circus would still be spinning.

3:21 Very well said.

Kara, you quote the Bible. Should we not follow the law of the land in this case? Good people can do bad things and they must be held accountable.

I went to school with Kara, she's the real deal. No BS there, she walks the walk. Very good hearted person indeed and cares about others. If there were more people like her, the world would be a better place.

The Decatur school board has hurt more people than Jimmy ever could dream of. That is a fact.

Anonymous said...

The "Decatur Haters" have hurt the district more than anything else.

Too much discussion about such selfish acts of one man. Has anyone yet considered how this will effect his family? He's left some family members in a very vulnerable state right now. They are the ones having to face the scrutiny of the public and their opinions.

LOL 3:10! Hater from Decatur!

I am not here to defend Jim but I am here to defend his family. Do any of you know or care what they are going thru, how it feel's for them to go out in public and have people stare and talk about them. Do you care that his son's have lost their father for the time being, that he will go to jail probable for along time, that his youngest son will probable graduate without his father there. That his wife and son have lost some of their financial support. Yes I know that he has to take responsibility for his actions but as a community we all need to lend a hand to this family, not turn the other cheek and walk on by. Have some compassion for them and let the story rest they don't need it thrown in their face's because trust me they are living the nightmare everyday.
