As a Con Law professor, I always told my class, "If you need a legal interpretation of a Constitutional issue, ask a County Sheriff."
Re Ratliff--You recruit from the 'hood and you get 'hood behavior and 'hood mentality (lack of it, that is), so what you expect.
Re Beyonce--Yep, Whitney Houston did the same, and she was criticized for that, as well.
Everyone else sang on the spot why shouldn't see anyone can sound good and remember the words lip singing it is just dishonest.

In the most strident warning over gun control to President Obama yet, the Utah Sheriffs’ Association is pledging to go to war over any administration plan to take guns away, even if it means losing their lives.
Calling the Second Amendment a sacred right of citizens to protect themselves from “tyrannical subjugation,” the association state elected sheriffs said in a new letter, “we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation.”
Theirs is the first meaningful proof that some in law enforcement and the military are preparing to fight federal forces if the president wins his goal of sweeping gun control.
In a direct warning to Obama, the FBI and other agencies, the sheriffs wrote: “Make no mistake, as the duly-elected sheriffs our our respective counties, we will enforce the rights guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution. No federal official will be permitted to descend upon our constituents and take from them what the Bill of Rights—in particular Amendment II—has given them.”
Things just got serious. Good on them!!

I watched Limitless a while back. It started out strong, with a good concept for the plot. Then it just kind of limped to the ending. The script could have used some of that drug they were using in the movie
Lip syncing - even if it's the national anthem - isn't a crime. It would be questionable if she were using somebody else's voice, but it's obviously her on the tape.
There are really only two cases where you can complain about her (or anybody) not singing live:
If you were paying to hear her sing in a concert,
or if she was singing in some sort of competition
I would wager that the majority of folks griping about the criminal justice system are tangled up in it. Wait...wagering is okay if there's no money involved, right?

The sheriff is not involved in federal gun law enforcement. The same people who would have him enforce federal gun laws would cry foul if he started doing federal immigartion enforcement. He runs a jail and little else. Carry on..

I am very conservative. I am very fortunate, blessed, in fact. I care very much about those less fortunate than myself, and show it by giving to help them. Paying taxes bears no resemblance to giving. I think it is morally wrong for socialist voters/politicians to place those who are willing to produce into the bondage of serfdom to those who are unwilling to support themselves and their spawn.

We've been fortunate to have a good Sheriff. No department is perfect but its a far cry from the days of Leroy Burch. The only reason he took out meth labs was to eliminate the competition. David Walker really tries to run a stand up operation.
If Obama and the libs are so concerned about gun violence then why don't they start with cleaning up Chicago? That should take them a few years. Here's a suggestion for them to speed up the process in Chicago too. Hand out chastity belts, free of charge, in the inner city area and give classes on male responsibilities as fathers. If they could reduce the number of children with no father in the picture, they'd reduce the number of kids joining gangs and killing each other.

These people in Chicago are a product of a lot of problems in this country that didn't happen overnight. Decades of pitiful educational opportunities has taken it's toll on the African-American community all across this country and Chicago is a microcosm of the problem as a whole. It will take a lot of time on the part of government agencies to make sure the Chicago school system is on track to provide the best educators and educational experience for those who have been systematically denied this education. You can't take care of this problem without funding these programs. We have swept this problem under the rug as a nation long enough!

Being fortunate or blessed doesn't mean you're rich. In fact, you could have started out as very poor and managed to find yourself fortunate and/or blessed. Therefore, you would have no trouble relating to the needy.

10:17 here. I was blessed to have been born in America, and into my family. With good parenting overall, opportunity to work and earn in USA, was taught by example to save a portion and give a portion, including civic involvement. Paid for my first pick-up hauling hay. Govt.-sponsored loans made it easy to go to school and work part time. Paid back the loans over about a 7-8 yrs. period after school. Started my own business at age 26, therefore have paid double Soc Security ever since, and am approaching retirement now. I have worked hard and have done well, have made more than some, less than others. Few would describe my lifestyle as opulent. The only silver spoons around here are from my grandparents' wedding gifts they received in about 1915. I have been blessed in many ways other than income. I find most people that have a lot more stuff than they really need to be boresome. I find most people that are bitter that some have more stuff than they do to be annoying, and I don't spend much time hanging with those in either category. The reason we have poverty in America is not because their welfare checks are not big enough, and increasing welfare doesn't fix it. Poverty persists, and we in this country are making no effective effort to relieve it. Socialists relieve their guilt complexes by supporting wealth redistribution. Elected politicians at the federal level, and maybe the state, from both parties, are protecting the same people, and the working folks get shafted every time. I cannot understand how a working person could possibly vote for a Democrat, nor why we continue to let the Republicans break one off in us. Mind boggling.
