Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • Mrs. LL and I went to the Stock Show this weekend. Verdict: Not bad, but I'm not sure I understand the fascination of doing it every year.
  • We went with two other couples. One of the guys got invited to Rodeo Exchange by a 40ish year old stranger/lady.  I can't believe we didn't go.
  • And we got to stay at a condo in the old Montgomery Ward's building. Fantastic. That may be an alternative retirement to Costa Rica, but Costa Rica may be cheaper.
  • The rodeo competition was between actual ranch hands instead of professional cowboys. I felt like I was watching the equivalent of rocket scientists. Really. I have no idea what their world is like.
  • And everyone loves the announcer at the rodeo but count me out. He reminded me of Hal Jay with an attitude.
  • I would have loved to see Borat grab a microphone and address the crowd.
  • I had a guy walk up to me in the Exhibit Hall and say, "I can't wait to read about this on the blog." Really.
  • I stood amongst eight urinals and I was the only one without a cowboy hat on.
  • So we have brothers coaching against each other in the Super Bowl?  Get ready for a media beat down.
  • A teen kills five people, including three children, in New Mexico.
  • I'm addicted to beach volleyball on the X-Box Kinect.But I'm so angry at the girl avatar who keeps beating me.
  • The gangsta mobile is back in the garage after a $4,000+  transmission bill. Kill me. But it is running fantastically
  • I think I'm worn out on the Manti Te'o story but here is my theory: He was initially duped, it was a casual online relationship,  but at the moment the media picked up the storyline of "his girlfriend" died he ran with it and began lying to promote himself. And he continues to lie today.
  • Former KXAS anchor Jane McGarry, somewhat, will debut on WFAA/Channel 8's morning show on Thursday. I only hope she is relaxed as she is on twitter.
  • I watched a documentary of the Presidents leading up to FDR.  There's a lot of similarity between FDR and President Obama. History, I think, will treat him well.
  • I actually watched CSPAN this morning for the inauguration prelude. Fairly fascinating. Especially watching the secret service agents as the President walked his way into church.
  • Fox and Friends had a segment this morning on how the facts show show that a two parent household is better than a one parent household. Mrs. LL then quoted the ATT commercial with kids: " Really? What's better? One or two?" (And those commercials are funny! Tape a cheetah to her back?)
  • Then Mrs. LL went back to bed (she had earlier got up to go pick up the Freshman-In-The-House up from some school sleepover.)
  • Wordkyle mentioned the other day that I have a "blind spot" about a certain subject. I don't deny that.
  • Football thought: Turnovers will kill you.
  • Nothing is worse than walking out of the grocery without a cart and carrying liquids.

re: History treating obama well.

I just hope we have a little bit of our country left after his term is over. He is exacerbating the problem this country has with big government and politicians who don't give a crap about anything but their careers!

"Really. I have no idea what their world is like."

Or anyone else for that matter!

FDR tried to stack the Supreme Court because it kept striking down New Deal programs as unconstitutional. His economic "fixes" prolonged the effects of the Great Depression. He established the Social Security Program which is nothing more than a government-run Ponzi scheme. So yes, I would rate Obama right up there with FDR when it comes to blatant political power grabs and deceptive and damaging fiscal policies.

Sometimes your bullet points are as cryptic as the idiotic nonsensical comments. That last one - what are we talking about here? The discomfort of a gallon of cold milk...the embarrassment of an enema product? What?!

Brothers coaching against each other actually sounds kinda interesting. I'll take that any day over the Ray Lewis hype. Never cared for that guy. Plus, it'll push aside some of the Armstrong/Te'o media beatdown

Turnovers kill you if your defense allows the other team to capitalize on them. It should say: points off turnovers will kill you

So, when you were standing at the urinals - who had the most impressive...hat?

And, the Tongue River Ranch won! They work hard and play hard.

The only good thing about Fox and Friends is the material they provide to Jon Stewart and Sat Nite Live and the fact checkers. I have to assume those 3 couch sitters aren't as stupid as they appear. Are they?

History will treat Obama well only if the present Mediasheep live forever.

Will all of your future Republican candidates take this position in upcoming elections?

Man, the river must really be low wherever she's tubing.

Ref the cowboy hat: you may be more comfortable at the Blue Mesa Cafe. Last year I was there and was the only one present with a cowboy hat

Well, of course you think history will treat Obama well. Sheesh.

Skippy, I can't believe you didn't mention the indictment of Mayor Ray "Chocolate City" Nagin on 21 counts of fraud and corruption.

Moochelle Obammy said the same thing about turnovers. Let's Move.

If the gangsta weeinie mobile is running fantastically, why is it back in the shop?

I'm just glad I have a bunch of things TIVO'd so I don't have to watch a full day of Obama crap. He's the worst thing that could happen to this country and I hope we survive his next four years without becoming Greece. I also hope that Beohner and the Republicans stand tall and firm against his illegal attempts to push through his left wing agenda with Executive Orders.

Oh, and I hope history is honest and evaluates Obama as the complete waste he is, and has been, without the blind media involved that we have in this day and age surrounding him.

Skippy, Don't you hate it when the mechanic bills by the hour? Sweet irony!

"I watched a documentary of the Presidents leading up to FDR. There's a lot of similarity between FDR and President Obama. History, I think, will treat him well."

I concur.......but only because liberals like you will be the ones writing the history books and framing how people perceive history.

You seem to spend all your spare time on frivolous pursuits like going to movies and the Stock Show, playing X-Box and staying at high dollar condos.

How much charitable/volunteer work have you done so far this year? How much have you done in the past 12 months? HOw much in the past 10 years? Anything besides a little pro bono work for criminals?

I thought you claimed to be Mr. Compassionate. Yeah you are really compassionate when wanting the govt. to increase other people's taxes. You're a hypocritical punk.

Undoubtedly, Obama will be in a nip and tuck race with Jimmy Carter for the absolute worst POTUS in our history. That is, if the historians actually tell the truth.

Nothing worse than walking out of the grocery without a cart carrying liquids...REALLY? How about:

...umm you probably ought to get tested;
...Sir, this is Trooper Jones, I'm afraid I have some bad news...
...Yep, that's gonna need a root canal;
...the company needs to reduce overhead;
...no, that policy isn't active any longer. the computer says we never received the July premium;
...Honey, did you leave the back door open?
...The retainer doesn't seem to be doing the trick, I'm afraid she's going to need braces;
...Hey douchebag, I didn't get my period this month;
...there, I've cut off your arm;
...Daddy, the puppy won't wake up;
...This is Special Agent Smith. I'm with the Internal Revenue Service and you've been selected for a routine audit. Can you be in my office next Monday at 1:00;
...It's not benign;
...$4,000.00 for a new transmission;
...Insufficient Funds Notification;
and....DNA testing reveals the baby isn't yours.

12:18 Good for you, let's just see if the middle age guy like myself ever gets a dime of it. You baby boomers, always thinking of yourselves, never concerned about future generations....that goes for libs and cons both.

My retirement plan basically ignores social security alltogether; I fully assume that it will be gone by retirement age (whatever that may be then).

Regarding the most important topic, of the day. Is it just me or does Michelle Obama's new hairstyle look like a weave that left her with a flat head much akin to that of Frankenstein's?

Keep in mind, it's a VAST improvement over several of her past styles.

I was curious also about your trip to the stock show! I happened to know the two couples very well you went with. I was curious because it is like a fish out of water. Like getting the same review from one of those cowboys going to an event at the Bass Hall.
