I'm confused by the people protesting against Chick-Fa-La. Are THEY against traditional families and/or marriage?
We will never all agree. However, having the right to express our beliefs is a right granted to everyone, not just those who feel oppressed. I am heterosexual, I have many friends who are homosexual; and I am no better person than they are, nor are they better than I. But we love and respect one another and would never condemn each other because our beliefs are different. God made me heterosexual, so why is it that God doesn't make some homosexual.
I fully support Chik-f-la today, because of the man's and the business' right to state their beliefs. Those in attendance are also making their own beliefs known.
When will this world wake up to the fact that we are all different, we will never all agree, but we DO live on this planet together, and so we must learn to live our life with those we feel comfortable being with, and those we do not agree with, or feel comfortable with may not be our closest friends, but we give them the space and the freedom to enjoy their life and their beliefs.
Christians have every right to stand up for their religious beliefs! That is what today is all about. I don't see anyone stringing up homosexuals today for persecution and if anyone says that this "statement" today is hateful, well, that is complete ignorance and intolerance.

I could care less about the gay marriage issue. I do support the CEO's right to free speech and oppose the city of Boston and Chicago not letting them expand because of his views. I thought the liberal weenies were for job creation but I guess not. Well, I see that the gays are thoroughly confused by their own lack of salvation to the point where they feel it necessary to defame and trivialize spirituality, especially Baptists. This is a huge tactical error on their part. I do not believe the gay will gain acceptance or equal footing with non-deviants. Perhaps in the eyes of the state, but never with society at large. Is it a hate crime for me to say this?

I personally think gay marriage should be a state by state issue.......but I also think it's wrong for the supposedly "objective" media to take sides with one group of people and try to bully a company out of business just because CFA's views don't reflect their own.

This is just dumb. I like CFA's food, I appreciate their Christian values, the fact that they are closed on Sunday, and the values that they teach to their employees, but I hate the fact that they have become the latest tool in the culture wars. Time will show that they accomplished more good by their quiet witness than when they became politicized.

However, I support the nut jobs in their statement, too. I haven't bought a Levi's product in decades, since the CEO of Levi's gave money to lawyers to fund the lawsuit of a boy scout who had been kicked out of the scouts for being gay. The kid can be gay, but the private organization (although they do take some federal funds...) can determine its membership, and Levi's can pay the price for a political stance. No real winners, but we're all standing by our beliefs, and there is some victory in that.

Shopping malls owned by a huge developer, I think it was Simmons Properties, changed their lease agreements to force all stores in the food court to open on Sunday. Chick fil-a refused, did not renew their lease and closed all stores under this requirement. Sounds to me like a company more dedicated to their convictions than profits.
The story would NOT have been politicized ANYWHERE if it wasn't for a bunch of looney lefties who got their knickers in a wad over a man stating that he believes in traditional families/marriage.

Some of you are missing the point. It's not that Cathy isn't personally allowed to have his beliefs, nobody is arguing that. It's not that he and the rest of his family claim to be Christian and claim to promote their version of Christian values. What the homosexual community is upset about is that CFA, the business, has spent over $5 Million in the last year or so to try to politically defeat rights for gay people.
That's not only gay marriage, that's equality for gays in the workplace and other rights too. In 29 States it is legal to fire someone solely because they are gay.
Spending $5M on political actions is free speech, but it's also loud speech and they should not be surprised that it has repercussions. Only time will tell if Cathy's political statements will help or hurt CFA.
This will backfire on the left. You wait and see.

I'm pretty sure if people took a deeper look at what he actually said, they wouldn't be so quick to back his opinion. He wasn't just slamming gays. It extends beyond that. Rape victims should be forced to marry their attackers (after a 50 sheckle fine to their Daddy) under "the biblical definition of the family unit".
Feel free to choose which parts of the Bible you want to cherrypick to fit your agenda. If you happen to make an extra buck or two off of it in the process, I'm sure Jesus has no problems with it.
