Help The Media Out

(Random unrelated Alvord demographic information)

I've got an inquiry from a media source (a legitimate one - they don't have Random Girls), about any other Alvord teen tragedies.  We've got two teenage deaths this year and, of course, the two young ladies that were killed in the awful accident in Denton County on 380.   That is certainly enough, but are there any others?

Edit: We've come up with a guy who tried to commit suicide and was featured in a Messenger article about his rehab. Also the death of teenager Aisha Bryant in a car accident earlier this year. There is another reference to a girl dying of an illness but I don't recall that story or her name.

Wasn't there a young lady who lost her life on the rail last year?

I would swallow my pride and refer them to the courthouse, the alvord city hall, or AISD.

The woman who died last year was 50 or in her 50's and from the Metroplex supposedly. But yes it did happen in Alvord

There was also a young man, early 2011(?) who tried to commit suicide by outting a gun in his mouth and pulling the trigger, but he survived. He was either 14 or 15? I believe he was a freshman when my daughter was a senior?

There was a young lady killed on 287 in May. There is a long history of car deaths involving teenagers from Alvord.

Total of 8 teenagers in less than 2 years.

There has truly been many in the Alvord/Newark area.

Yes, there was the young lady going to work on S. 287 that was hit from behind while approaching/in an accident scene being handled by DPS.

Also a young girl named Morgan that passed away about 3 years old. She would have been a senior this year I believe. Her death was health related though, I think?

6 is the last 3 years.
2 that were killed on 380 near Denton
1 killed driving to Decatur in May of this year
2 recent deaths this month
And 1 that died of an illness a couple of years back.

All were students in the Alvord school system at the time of their death.

Have you ever stopped to think that the families of these children don't want to be in the media? Could you put yourself in thier place? Have some respect.

Will they all get bronze statues?

Speaking of the media, what's wrong with the Messenger's website? I can't connect.

6:34 you are an ASS!

5:22 is correct. 6 in the last few years. Morgan Clampitt (sp?) passed suddenly a few years ago with a blood clot or aneurism.
Also, the suicide attempt that the Messenger did the article on was a different guy from the one 3:18 is referring to. 3:18 is talking about a guy named Cameron, I believe. Forgot his last name.

Is this a Drivers Ed issue?

8:05,
He's not an arse, he's a nihilist.

Worldly. Atheists think that stuff is funny.

The Nihilist you are an ass. And 8:13 no it is not a drivers ed issue. It is an issue of adults driving like an idiot and distracted driving. The teens in those accidents did what they were supposed to do. May'be the adults should take drivers ed again or better yet have to retake the test every time they are due to renew their license! The 380 accident was the fault of two adults that should never be behind the wheel. One has already had many more accidents plus was indicted in Williamson county for DWI. Not to mention a DUI on drugs, failure to stop and render aide and forgery in Georgia. Fine outstanding ADULT citizens!!

9:06: I agree wholeheartedly. "Adults" for lack of a better word, have been at the root of most of the vehicular deaths contributed to Alvord "Teens". In the case of most of the Kids I know in Alvord, and yes I had 2 daughters graduate from Alvord, they are cautious drivers. You have to be out where we live. Semis drive like they are the only ones on the road and the Adults are always in a hurry to get where they should have been and hour ago. "Kids" dont get enough credit for trying to be cautious drivers. Should they Die for their lack of experience, while an "Adult" driver gets to cause the "accident" and move on?

We're Drugs or Alcohol involved?

Anonymous said...

No drugs or alcohol were involved in any of the vehicle accidents by the teens.

Alvord has one of the best drivers ed programs around taught by Coach Rhonda Enis.

In loving memory. These are the names of the Alvord teens who have recently passed. All of them were loved by all and were a vibrant part of our community.

Morgan Clampitt died December 29, 2008 due to health reason. She was a part of the upcoming senior class 2013.

Samantha Rogers and Delaney Mancil died November 11, 2010 in a tragic head on collision caused by another vehicle falling asleep at the wheel. They were returning home after shopping for some footie pjs for the upcoming spirit day for our playoff game. Sam was in the 2011 Class, Delaney had plans to graduate early this year but was in the 2013 class.

Aisha Bryant died May 25, 1012 in a another tragic car accident. She was simply going to work and yielded over to the left lane on 287 for an officer pulled over on the other side of the road and was struck from behind by a careless driver. She was a part of the 2012 class.

Marcus Silletti died July 7, 2012 when he was struck by a train from behind unaware of the train's approach due to wearing headphones. He was a part of the 2016 class

Cheyenne Dollins died July 29th when she was also struck by a train. She was a part of the 2016 class.

10:37: Thank you for putting that out there and for clarifying for those who did not know these wonderful, wonderful children. If Nothing else can be learned, please, please, people, use caution while driving and remember that Noone should be in that big of a hurry.

10:37
I meant to put Aisha down with the 2013 class. Sorry for the typo.

Anonymous said...

And just a note the auto accicents were the results of careless adults NOT a result of anything the kids did. Also Sam and Delaney there was no falling asleep by one of the drivers there was negligence by two of the drivers neither being Sam or Delaney!

Hearing all these stories might remind you of the most peculiar and yet bizarre type of accidents teenagers are prone to. Most of these are even fatal and lead to the rising of death rates for adolescence category. Might as well learn from these and teach them to others as well to spread awareness.
