I met Sonny West at the State Fair one year. He signed a similar picture of him, Elvis and Nixon. He was gracious enough to tell us the events of that day. Wow. Some of the things I remember:
They showed up at the WH gates fully armed. The guard told someone inside the king was here. They asked the king of what? No, THE King. They didn't take guns inside the WH, they were turned away and given an appointment to return later that day.
Elvis was rummaging through Nixon's desk looking for souvenirs.
My favorite: Elvis was wearing a purple fur suit with a big pimp hat. Nixon said that's quite a get up you have on. Elvis said Mr. President, you've got your show to run, I've got mine.

I scrolled down too fast, and the heading "Man, that was tense" was under the photo of Bush & Bono. Seemed appropriate.

Watched a documentary that discussed this picture w/Elvis. Elvis actually went to the White House and took a loaded handgun in with him. Wow.
