Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • I was surprised by the lack of reaction you guys had to the Bridgeport graduate turned Dallas PD officer who had made some questionable postings on Facebook. (Story was posted about a week ago.) Normally, we'd get a ton of "I know that girl and . . . " responses.
  • There was a truck upside down under the 114/287 overpass (Dallas bound) this morning. Cops were on their way but I saw one overshoot it and head eastbound on 114.
  • That video of the Dallas cop beating a handcuffed suspect that I posted yesterday was indeed a bad scene. Whenever you see one cop restrain another, you know it was over the top.
  • Lindsay Lohan's latest court outfit. Not bad.
  • Mrs. LL this morning: "If it is to wet to practice softball, they'll practice in the parking lot and use a [voice changes to a tentative and unsure tone] waffle ball."
  • But the judge in the Lohan case made the oddest statement yesterday: "If you plea in front of me . . . you will go to jail." How in the heck can he say that? The case is simply pending and no evidence has been presented to him. In Texas, a judge can't even tell a defendant who is receiving probation that if he violates that probation he is guaranteed to be sentenced to jail.
  • Miss San Antonio can't keep away from the cheeseburgers so a judge ends up stripping her of her title. Viva la justice!
  • Hot sports opinion: I don't think Tiger Woods will ever break Nicklaus' record for most Major wins. (He got booted in the first round of some match play tournament yesterday.)
  • Baylor and Texas Tech will play at Cowboys Stadium this fall. I really like this DFW neutral site thing they've got going.
  • I caught the last part of a documentary on Caddyshack last night which included the video of NBC film critic Gene Shalit originally ripping it to shreds
  • I let a couple of jabs between MzChief and Kathleen go through yesterday. But that's it. No more. (All you other guys stop sending me comments about it.)
  • Tried to teach the 7th Grader in the house about healthy skepticism last night when she freaked out about a report of Facebook shutting down. That's a little tricky.
  • The Dallas mayor resigns yesterday but fails to mention a run for the Senate which we all know about. Hey, you're trying to manufacture drama about a subject (you) that no one cares about.
  • Gas has busted $3 a gallon with some predictions it will reach $4.50. (And a barrel of oil cracked $100 briefly yesterday.) Get ready for Wise County Oil Boom 2.0.

It's not the price of oil that causes a boom in the economy. It's the price of natural gas. Still down.

The last time gasoline was 3.00 it was Bush's fault. Is this Barack's fault?

I googled pics of the San Antonio ex-beauty queen leaving court. She looks okay to me.

Hello there,

I have a message for the webmaster/admin here at www.liberallylean.com.

May I use some of the information from your post right above if I provide a link back to this website?

Thanks,
Alex

COMMENT ON A PREVIOUS DAY'S POST: this morning on KLUV Jody Dean and his team played the clip of the 5 yr old who was talking about wanting to get a job before she married, and they had exactly the same thought I did at the time....that's GREAT! Those parents are trying to teach their daughter exactly what mine taught me...never to have to depend on a man for ANYTHING. Jody said that was the primary lesson he wanted his little girl to learn as well. Get an education, get a job, then marry, but don't let any man compromise you into settling for less or put you in a position of dependence. I'm not sure why posters on here disagreed with that, when that seems to be the best advice a parent could ingrain into a daughter????

Rest of today's random thoughts bored me.

Your recent chick pic lineup has been very weak. I'll blame it on the allergens in the air, clouding your judgment, and expect improvement soon.

"wiffle" ball ;o)

Yesterday President Obama issued a strongly worded condemnation of Libya's brutality towards it's citizens.

I bet that kept Mohamar up all night.

Anonymous said...

Huh? Oil boom? How- why? What? Price jumped over fears of diminished supplies out of Libya AND it's highly unlikely this situation is going to lead to more extraction/exploration here in Texas.

Wiffle ball.

Is the imbilical cord still attached to the random pic girl? Eeeew.

In regard to Barry's comment about probation and the judge's inability to advise the defendant of what he will get if he violates, it really does not say that. Opionion just states that the judge must consider the full range of punishement. Easily fixed by the judge by a finding that after considering the full range of punishment, he has decided on such and such. Careful relying on lawyers to tell you what a case opinon is. Usually just tell you what they want it to mean.

I don't think that woman cop who got in trouble for facebook is really from Bport??

Did Obama bomb Egypt or Libya? I guess it's not his fault then.

Market speculation, just like last time, is what's inflatijg prices.

Lack of refineries is also a cause for supply to remain low. We have more than enough oil, gas and coal in US to sustain our current, and expected increase in energy needs for more than 300 years. Why do we continue to make billionaires out of middle east and Latin American thugs that only want to destroy our lifestyle? Put Americans back to work here in America. "Drill Baby Drill!!!"

Shouldn't the photographer who took the Lohan pictures be arrested and jailed? Zooming in, obvious focus on certain body parts...etc.?

I heard the principal at Young was fired yesterday? Can anyone confirm and tell why?

No. Leave him alone. He's obviously mastered his craft.

You probably should've dumped all of them. Silliness doesn't mix well with grump moments.

On another note, saw 127 Hours yesterday. You'd like it. It's really more of a rental (imo), because the extreme observation factor of the film allows those of us who like to be busy, to well, haul out the laundry or the paperwork. But, Aron Ralston's inner reflection, ingenuity and raw resilience comes across beautifully. As a hiker, you'll especially enjoy his discoveries with regards to nature as he's stuck in the midst of it.

Fascinating film.

Re: Lohan....what an example of a "poor little rich girl" going d-o-w-n the tubes...sad to watch. It's taking a toll on her face too. Good grief, she's aging fast.

Why would Wise Co. issue a burn ban today since we had some rain.
Darn:

Rage, It's not market speculation. It is still Bush's fault.

I heard the principal at Young Elem. was fired also.

YIPPEE!!!!!

We all knew it....Obama is hooked up with the oil companies to make the gasoline high and to score new quarterly profits. All of us liberals need to yell it loud and clear!!!!

The Secret Police said...

Rage, wrong again dude! Apparently you don't know what it takes to make gasoline. And no I am not going to explain it to you. And I promise you your buddy Barrack Hussein Obama doesn't know either so don't expect a coherent explanation from him either. All he can think of is "it's Bush's fault, it's Bush's fault!!" Park your VW bug and let the rest of us have our freedom and liberty.
DRILL BABY DRILL!!!!!

Miss Lohan is a big old cup of crazeeee! Look forward to her going up the river. Should be good for two or three reality tv shows. Lindsay in Lockup - Shower Room Horror. The titles write themselves.

Superintendent should get his raise yanked at the very least....and if teachers lost jobs, his WIFE should be the first to go! Let's see how much integrity the DISD really has......my bet is not much.

If LiLo pleads guilty to the charge or takes the plea bargain wouldn't she be admitting guilt which makes her in violation of probation which means jail. I don't see your problem with the judges ruling. I guarantee you or I would already be in jail for the same offenses.

Anonymous said...

The Superintendent met with teachers to tell them there would be no raise this year and to be thankful for their jobs.

I got me raise none for you. Plan to work harder. Or you could lose yours.

How proud of the school board are ya now. Build more track and put in some lights and bleachers and some turf but no way are they going to cut a coach to save a teachers job. Come on school board it's for the Kids.

Anyone complaining about teacher jobs willing to fork over the bucks to keep them? The State is required by its constitution to spend only what it takes in. If we all rush the courthouse upset about government jobs being lost, get out your checkbooks or vote in some new taxes. Problem solved. Hey, where did everybody go?

Anonymous said...

I would rather have bleachers than teachers

Baylor/Tech game will be fun. Well wait they are the home team this year. They don't allow beer sales at the game which that my friends is an epic fail!
