Hey Republicans

Look what you get to vote upon in next month's primary. I wonder if that will get a majority vote? Hmmm? I wonder.

And isn't it a little ironic that the initiative is also printed in Spanish?

Ron Paul is an Independent, you Honyock.

what does that even mean?

"should be required"?

Required by whom? And even if they "should", will they, in fact, be required?

Also, this is a state ballot initiative, which is in regard to a complex set of federal laws. Even if "state and local" officals are "required" by the state to enforce these federal laws, they will still need federal authorization to do so.

I have no doubt that this initiative will pass, but it is so vague and ambiguous (and probably unlawful) that it can never be enforced (or understood, even).

Whoever drafted this (presumably not a lawyer, and certainly not a competent one) needs to go back to the drawing board.

1:27 you Honyock, what alien culsture abducted you?

Ronald Ernest "Ron" Paul (born August 20, 1935) is a Republican United States Congressman from Lake Jackson, Texas, a physician, and a 2008 U.S. presidential candidate.

About as independent as WordKyle's thinking.

I just read that Texas is one of three states that does not have the initiative program.

Not at all ironic. A significant portion of our State's citizens speak Spanish. This fact is known and embraced by virtually every public-facing company that operates in the state of Texas. Making it easier for our Spanish-speaking citizens to vote by adding a few lines of Spanish can only be a good thing.

I'm sure a lot of the Joe Lunchbuckets and Johnny Punchclocks out there will disagree with this though.

Did the aliens have INS written on their uniforms? If so good for them.

Truly a sad day in the United States when it takes a Texas state wide vote on a POORLY crafted Ballot Initiative to attempt to have enforced LAWS passed by the Legislative branch of the United States.

Gorilla, you are the village idiot! Nobody embraces it, we just put up with it! It's for the money and votes...

Yeah, MzCreep - I came in here to axe the same question......why do we have to have an initiative on our ballot to enforce a law that is already in place? I guess that falls into the "laws were made to be broken" category. I think it would be fun to have a Parliament for a few years. I love to watch the Limeys yell at each other!

HFJC - I think we need a law that says it's illegal for any legal beagle type to be elected to any local, state or national position. All they have done for ages is f^ck things up.

And, I'd also urge every stinking one of you folks reading this blog to imagine "A Day Without A Mexican". It might make you think, unless you are like jarhead or wordbile.

Mr. Mike Honcho said...

5:45, I urge you to consider where those "mexicans" would be without Tax Dollars to prop them up.

Ummm... oh yeah... just like the rest of us.

Just spend one day in our schools or hospitals... The day that there are protests for "mexicans" to walk of the job to show us how important they are to America, then America should cut off all freebies.. School Lunches, Medical Care, etc. to show "mexicans" how important their illegally-adopted patron-state is to them.

Amazing that we have a spanish written anything. Everyone go through your pantry and all through your hosehold products and look at the spanish written under the english. We have immigration problems because we feed them, clothe them, deliver their babies, let them slide on paying taxes, let the big companies slide on hiring them and then we write spanish on product so we get to sell them product they know how to use. I will bet 1 million pesos that if we started printing everything in Japanes, or Russian or any other language we would see a race of that culture to get here. Lets control the border, require all members to learn English and have a J-O-B lined up for them after they serve 4 years in the service. Jeez, now aint that simple enuph?

Mr. George W. Bush has been the leader of our federal government that has been responsible for border enforcement for the past 7 years. Some of you might ask, "Why hasn't he accomplished this job?" Was it because of Bill Clinton? Was it because of his Republican House and Senate? Or was it because of his incompetence? Whathcha think?

7:30 - now aren't you a wonderful example of 'merican lernin'. Bet you've made significant contributions to the advancement of our country. Let me just guess, you're a simple bigot.

I think Bush betrayed us on the immigration situation in the beginning because he had a secret deal with the former president Fox.
His remedy was a flimsy "amnesty" deal that was anti-conservative and failed. From the debates on border security and returning aliens, the Democrat congress came up with the excuse that we do not have the resources to catch 20 milliion of them and just have to live with it, ergo we will see lots more things printed in Espanol. It is all BS!!

Logic says that catching only a million or so aliens and returning them would probably make the rest of them go home on their own or flee to Canada. We do have the resources to do that. A snitch fee {bounty} of $100 per head would result in citizens doing the work of ICE and clean up the situation at a tremendous savings to everyone.

We keep dancing around the issue with ridiculous initiatives like this one and no one wants to really step up to the problem. Until the fed does its job, it is left to state and local to patch things up and that will be a critical issue in the general election. Why are the democrats avoiding a real fix for this mess?

3:24 PM - I think the Mess changed servers and got into a mess. However, for the past week, I have found serious problems with Embarq. Hit and miss access to Google, Drudge, MSNBC, Fox and even Explorer. Checking with others not on Embarq and I find they have no such problems. One more week of this and I am changing high-speed providers. Any recommendations?

PS - How about an initiative to make English the official language of Texas?

I can not believe that we even have to vote to enforce laws. What a joke our government has become. Let’s just let everyone in give them free health care and social services. Do not require them to learn the national language. We will all live together in peace and sing camp fire songs. Go Liberalism and Tolerance!
