It's A Slow Day

But I jogged outside for a long time -- absolutely beautiful -- and the Cowtown 1/2 Marathon is two weeks away.

I plan on seeing U2-3D later today. I've heard it's great.

And, uh, Phil King has fifteen people using his law office address on the voter registration rolls?

Simon.... that was just not fair! Here, let me try another number. Now don't call security, let me sing! It will be better this time, I promise, and I always keep my promises because I am REPUBLICAN! Simon, how much cash would it take to make you like my singing and pick me?

On registering there is a place to fill in both your mailing address and permanent residence address.

It is not uncommon for these to be different. Your voter registrar can give you reasons for this. I've got 2 people living at my address but only 1 of us gets mail here. Sure glad I'm not running for anything.

Phil King is a Scum Bag. Also the politicians that take monies from his coffers are scum bags.

Keep Wise County Beautiful and lets toss this scum bag out and ANYONE whom takes his dirty money from the Energy companies.

Screw Phil King. If you want the same results, Great! Keep voting for the same crooks. If you want things to change then vote for a DIFFERENT person. How hard is that?

Two words for Phil King and his supporters.

SUCK IT!

Believe me you haven't seen voting fraud until you've worked at a polling place in a larger city or county environment. Workers will empty every homeless shelter, work corner you name it to bring bodies in by van and vote the way they want for 20.00. People will also leave, change clothes, shave etc. and return sometimes even with a new card. There's no a whole lot that can be done about it since nobody wants to be in the middle of denying anyone their vote especially against the group who most often engaged in these practices.

Who are all these people? Why would they all claim a home address that is a business office? How many actually live in King's district? At least one of these guys lives at two addresses side by side in Weatherford. Others can't be found in the White pages.

Mr. King wouldn't be importing voters to pad his campaign would he? Or wouldn't he? Is King actually as sleazy as he appears?

King is a dirt bag!

Anyone who would VOTE for Phil King should have their sanity questioned.

The Wise County Republican Party should be ashamed.

Really ashamed.

Of COURSE there is voter fraud, why else would there be the expression..."Vote early and vote often."?

Voter fraud, you bet. Why? The fifteen are probably getting absentee ballots at Phil King's district office because when they went to vote, they would be asked the question, Are you still living at this address? If they answered No, they would be given an address change form to go to the Voter Registrar office. The home address is required on the voter registrar list, not the mailing address. The reason is the mailing address could be in a different polling precinct than the residential address. The voter registrar will have the mailing address.

Wouldn't it be funny if the people living there are undocumented workers who can not legally vote? Let's see, a couple to mow his lawn, a couple to clean his house, a few loaned out to Craddock to clean his $$$$$million dollar Austin appartment, and the remainder are cleaning the fundamentalist churches!

Wow! This is going to get interesting.

Phil King making Burnt Orange is going to be his undoing; however, the Democratic challenger is extremely weak, so Joe Tison will need to win in the Republican primary to send the King home.

The voting records of all fifteen will probably be checked out so I think we are going to see more on Burnt Orange!

Houston fund-raoser more important than district campaigning, especially at the mansion of one of his "REGULATED" clients.

Quoted from TEXAS MONTHLY, BURKABLOG:

"You have to hand it to Phil King. No matter how many stories the Star-Telegram writes about his taking campaign cash from the industries he represents, the chairman of Regulated Industries keeps right on doing it. Yesterday's article related King's acknowledgement that he had accepted free tickets to watch the 2004 Super Bowl in Center Point Energy's box, after previously telling the paper that Center Point had not paid for his tickets. In a serendipitous coincidence, King was in Houston last night as the guest of honor at a fundraiser hosted by Scott Rozzell, the executive vice-president and general counsel of, you guessed it, CenterPoint Energy, at his mansion. The invitation lavishes praise on King:"

I wouldn't vote for him based simply on his choice of tie and belt.

Faux-pas.

What gets me about all of the stories that the Star Telegram and other new sources print, the good old Wise County MESSenger does NOTHING, REPORTS NOTHING... Great Journalism? Maybe they should get another "award" for their fine reporting. You would think they MIGHT, JUST MIGHT print such important news as the Star Telegram has reported regarding a representative FOR WISE COUNTY. I guess Roy and the boys are too busy bitching about the refs at the Boyd games!

Thats an excellent question. Have you considered how many advertising dollars little phil gives to the messenger? Rare is the dog that bites the hand that feeds it.

He is running a little scared, I think. I received a mass mail letter from his wife that had a very defensive tone to it with an overall intent to garner support for him. She says in the letter how he supports public schools yet they homeschooled their children. Blah, blah, blah...

King has a bad rep on education because there are numbers of educators, PTA folks and senior administrators in Wise County who have quit sending their concerns to him because he never replies. For him to say he has done anything in education is not true. What is his record on the subject? On anything?

It is wrong for an elected official to accept gratuities, gifts or special treatment from businesses his subcommittee is supposed to regulate. He should avoid even the appearance of doing so.

He is making no rebuttals to the conflict of interest charges that have come out so far in this campaign. If untrue, he should be squealing about the truth, giving facts or filing defamation lawsuits. He isn't. Phil King has to go! He is far too cozy in the public trough.

Definitely a faux-pas on the choice of tie and belt. Bet he wears hose with open toe shoes as well.

Yeah MZchief, that would be because of the Democrats.

I just got a King campaign flyer in the mail that shows him joining the Texas National Guard as s MAJOR! No time as a lieutenant, no officr basic, no earned promotions ... no NOTHING! Hell, he probably doesn't even know which hand to salute with!

If this is supposed to be a ploy to attract veteran votes, NO WAY IN HELL! I am a veteran and a ploy like this makes me sick of both him and the governor that commissiond him! He is a disgrace to the Army uniform and should never hold an office in government at any level. PHIL KING IS AN INSULT TO THE MILITARY!

11:27 - Phil King is an insult to humanity and the Wise County Republican Party should be ashamed to promote him.

Vote Tison.

I just visited Phil's website. He makes no statements about what he wants to do for the people of his district so I guess he wants voters to send him back to do nothing.

Another interesting news link:

Wow!! If you were to poll folks on this blog about the King - Tison race it looks like Tison would win by miles. Do you suppose this is true of the active church voters, too? I get the impression that the editors/owners of the Messenger and Index are King supporters.
