The Messenger's paper edition today has four letters supporting Phil King. (I'll save you time: Vote for him because he supports "family" and "traditional" values and he doesn't like gambling. Yep, Phil King hates blackjack.)
Edit: Tison's latest shot across the bow.

How many of those letters were postmarked "Houston"???
Legal gambling is for real SUCKERS! The King supporters must have a very low opinion of their voters. Like maybe .... INSULT!
You must have some new program software to enable all of these graphic depictions. [smile]
I have OFTEN wondered how many of Wise County's NONgamblers go to the casino located a hair's-breadth north of the Texas state line, make the trek to Lost Wages or purchase Lotto tickets?
Nope! I NEVER gamble but do indeed believe if people want to piss off their hard earned money they should be able to do it at a game of chance.
These were probably written by local folks from Alvord who are pissed off at their school board members and Supt. running around the county campaigning for Joe what's his name.
I bet he's against Indian poker too!
If you look at Phil King's contributor list from past years he has both received and accepted money from several gambling lobby groups. Check it out.
King - ok, this man is pro life and opposes gambling........
So what? His stand on moral issues do not necessarily make him a good state representative - emphasis on "representative"....
.....he represents himself.
Vote Tison.
Anyone read Politex yet? New ethics charges have been filed against King Phil for misusing all that campaign money. Now THAT'S republican family values!
A quote from Tison's press release:
"Unlike my opponent, I have never taken a dime from gaming interests," Tison said. "Unlike him, I have actually given back gaming money."
How can you give the money back if you have never "taken a dime" of it in the first place?
Maybe he should have said "kept a dime."
It just sounded funny to me.
What an embarrassment for repubs.
I luv that little graphic (this is supposed to be Phil King?)
....is that wave "hello" or "goodbye"?
..in today's mail, two brochures on King - one was priceless. Showed King inside a lightbulb with the caption:
"Lights Out".
Sure hope so.
Need help deciding this race? Look at your electric, telephone bill. Who is using your money to keep this "regulator" in business.
He's for "open markets". That's an euphanism for "let my guys open your wallet."
The big boys never get enough!
Call me nosey...call me anything but gullible.
Has anyone looked at Tison's filings?
PAC money (reported) $57,000
Texas AFT Cope ll PAC ?
Texans for Economic Development
(You know, the gambling PAC)
According to Tison these are just A-OK...he's not taking anything from them so why should he have to report to us monies being spent.
Hundreds of thousands of $$$$$$...I personally don't think Joe is that cute. He sure isn't too smart.
$3,000 from a lobbyist who just happens to be listed on "Tourism" lobby list. Race tracks?
How about an attorney named Cascino from Chicago giving $500.
Do you think he could be related to Deborah Cascino the Parker County Democratic Chair?
How about 3 donors ($500, $1,000, $5,000)only showing themselves to be "investors". I wonder what they invest in"
Wonder where he spends some of it?
Roy Fletcher $46,078
(You remember who he is...the La. "hit man". Never met a truth he couldn't twist or a lie he didn't love.) Oh, excuse me...he is Tison's consultant.
Star-Telegram $6,235.64
Bridgeport Index 4,202.00
Weatherford Democrat 3,993.00
Wise County Messenger 2,010.00
(Wonder what he has against the Mess?)
Heather McGlassroom $5,339.00
(Contract for campaign? Contract with whom? I didn't sign one...did you? TED?
Kelly Graphics (Austin) $6,737.32
(Sure does love that Austin bunch.
Bet the S-T could have recommended a good local source)
I could go on but we've already spent $74,594.96 of poor Joe's money. Sure do want to be able to see what his total campaign cost. And since he is big on this sort of thing, I even want to know what the Texas AFT and TED spent.
It's only fair!
Phil King has been running hourly radio ads. One of the lines is that he is "pro-family". In over a half century on this planet, I have never met one person who is anti-family. Is this supposed to be a big deal?
I'm just curious, how many ethics charges have ever been filed against Tison?
5:33 - he is courting the religious vote and some of these folks will vote for anybody who promotes "family values"......
....as if Mr. Tison doesn't?
Tison has a lovely family too and is active in his church - but he doesn't USE his religion to get votes.
That is appalling and folks who buy into that are.......
_________________(you decide).....
Of course we want to elect folks with "family values", but I want a "public servant" which Phil King is NOT. He is "for" anything that he can do to go up the political ladder.
So Joe has the AFT teachers' union behind him.
Why is that a surprise?
Horse track gambling is good for Texas. I'm not saying I want one everywhere, but I think it'd be fine if they had slots.
As if Joe Tison is AGAINST family values? Duh! What in hell is that spoze to mean?
I enjoyed the letter I received from our Mayor in support of Phil King, NOT!!
People in certain political positions need to be careful about who they support in public. It could "backfire" when it's his time to run again. The writing is on the wall for King Phil, the truth has finally come out I only wish the Mayor could see it because the guy (King) hasn't done crap for me other than say one thing and do another. Kip(brother of Napolean Dynamite who King Phil reminds me of)I hope you and LaFonda (Kips girlfriend from the same movie) enjoy the real world come March 5th.
i am amazed at how many of my fellow friends in wise county find king so great they must love the high engry bills. ad as far as standing up for family values B.S. king lies cheats and steals and uses his power for his own good not the citizens down with king
9:36 - which mayor are you referring to?
If it is Bridgeport's, that is understandable - he and King are pretty much alike.
May this Fake Christan Zealot rot in Hell and Tison let this years election put you on clear notice that if you sell out the citizens of Parker & Wise County we will vote your butt out too !!
Now who else has taken this guys DIRTY MONEY ???
Umm, I beleive that to be the Two Republican County Commissioners.
Robert Rankin - Precinct 1
Mikel (outlaw) Richardson - Precinct 2
10:05 Are you saying that these two Republicans took money from Kings Coffers? Dirty money taken out of the pockets of the Wise & Parker County people.
Money I had put aside to help my retired parents and food for our children.? Lets not forget my church needs help too. !!!
That means he just bought off two more who now work for special intrest groups and the power company. I would think that they would have known whom they jumped in bed with !!!
Everyone please call these two and demand they send the money back !!!
Barry,
Maybe a whole new post to bring this to the attention of voters in Wise County!
Hey Anon at 12:40
Mention local county Republicans taking blood money for their campaigns and you can hear a pin drop !!!
Let it be a Democrat and all HELL would have busted loose.
