The Messenger had an update this weekend on Robert Morgan who has now lost 207 pounds after undergoing lap-band surgery. Amazing.
And in a minor coincidence, I might have been thumbing through People magazine today and came across an article on the guy pictured above who has had gastric bypass surgery. He's lost 315 pounds. You might remember him looking like this in Varsity Blues.

Well maybe he'll be among all the celebrities tonight at the Academy Awards who tell us how important it is to be "green" by driving HYBRID tanks that get DOUBLE the gas mileage of their regular tanks (from 5 miles per gallon to 10) or cars that run on peanut oil (hey, who cares if it takes lots of diesel and chemicals to grow and ship and process peanuts...we're GREEN), and to be sure and put energy efficient light bulbs in our vacation homes and giant mansions. And finally, perhaps the celebrities will pat themselves on the back for taking fewer trips to exotic locations around the world, therefore saving our planet from harmful Lear Jet exhaust. You know, I think I'm going to get on board with all the greenies, and take fewer trips in my private jet, too.
They each lost more than I weigh. I can't get my mind wrapped around that.
Well now, "LOOKS"..... are everything whether you are a celebrity, a lawyer, a housewife, or what........
Does the human brain drop weight when the body does?
WOW!
I think the SEVENTEEN cosmetic surgeries did a LOT to change his appearance after losing such a MASSIVE amount of weight.
I am so proud of Robert...You can tell that he feels better too!!
Way to go Robert...Keep up the hard work:)
Wow, at first, I thought that was a picture of Robert Morgan, and thought DAYUM, then I scrolled down. After that, I was totally disappointed. But still, congratulations, Mr. Morgan.
Hey 5:45 Who care what they do to be green? All everyone has to do is just a little something & it will make a BIG difference...so don't knock people for trying.
You are sounding a little bitter. Happiness is being content with what you have...just a thought.
Wow, I am totally impressed Barry. Did you ever expect Kenneth Copeland read your little blog? (re: 5:45PM)
i see mr. morga at a lot of games so its been hard for me to notice the massive weight he has lost until i saw the little picture they ran in the paper that showed his before picture. what i have noticed themost about him is his attitude - he is totally different in just year and i bet his family loves it. im just amazed he has lost all that in just a year. that picture of the actor might be robert after another year.
thanks for sharing your story with us
I saw Robert Morgan at the Slidell playoff game in Aledo Friday night. He looks healthier and happier. Way to go Robert! Keep up the good work.
wow, 18 surguries to look like that? its hard to find a guy attractive that has to do they...he was molded into what he is.
can we mold wal-mart customers too? i would shop there more often
as much fan mail as RM receives in the newspaper for his opinion peices, its nice to see at least 3 people n the county are on his side. well, i make 4. not only does he look happy, he also looks about 10 years younger.
i cant beleive the change in the varsity blues actor. what a great thing weight loss surgery is. i wish i could afford it.
Amen to 5:45 PM. The next time a "celebrity" gives out "life advice", remember this question, when was the last time they pumped their own gas and went to a grocery store for their own groceries. If it has been years--forget the advice. As to weight loss--WAY TO GO, RM!
I heard about Ron Lester first as a stand-up comic. The dude was funny! When I was in college I worked a summer at a resort and he happened to be there just hanging out on the beach. I wanted to meet him but of course he was surrounded by the "beautiful people" he had everybody cracking up and hot girls hanging all over him. Later when I came back around them(probably picking up their trash) there were fewer and fewer people around him and he wasn't making any sense, people would shake there heads and walk away. Later he was passed out on a picnic table,it made him look ginormous. Toward the end of my shift I went back over where he was to see if he was still alive and he was gone. A tragicomic character I guess.
Wow....congrats, Ron. You're, um, light & lovely. =)
They removed 40 pounds of skin from Ron Lester after his weight loss. That's two of my 8 month old sons. He is 4 inches shorter now because of the loss of fat from the top of his head and the soles of his feet. That is crazy.
5:45, WTF? Did Barry remove the portion of this post that spoke to being green or did you just decide to go on a rant for no good reason?
As for the actual topic of this post, Kudos to anyone the is working to make themselves healthy. I'm trying to live a healthier lifestyle and I know how tough it is. I'm glad to see normal people having success.
