Greatest Publicity Stunt Ever?

I could not care less about Starbucks closing across the nation for three hours yesterday for "training" (I haven't bought a Starbucks coffee in three years). But that bit was nothing more than a publicity stunt. You don't need to close all the stores at the same time to school your employees. It was done to get attention.

And, man, did it work. That story is everywhere. (I saw it on the local news, on ABC's World News Tonight, and now The Today Show). The amount of free advertising dollars had to be astronomical. (And I guess I'm part of it.)

Never buy it myself ~ make a perfectly good cup of coffee at and at work. Think it's just a place to see and be seen. No big loss.

Personally, it's been a great stock for many of us the past several years.

London has more Starbucks than NYC, Japan is a very hot market compared to the lukewarm US market.

For those who don't get it - don't get it...

Everone who complains about $3.00/gal gasoline and buys coffee at starbucks should have his/her driver's license revoked and be required to take remedial math training. Ditto the lottery: another tax on people who are bad at math. And while I'm on this soapbox,,,,, never mind, the derby's about to start.

Ridicules prices are not worth it!! I have been there but only if someone else is picking up the tab!!

At least you get a substantial cup of coffee at Starbucks for that high price. What I don't understand is why people pay those exorbitant prices for "designer" water? Some of it actually imported from France (where you generally can't drink tap water). It's those goofballs buying bottled water from our municipal water supplies that really makes me wonder about people's financial sanity.
