HOW difficult would it be for the people who put up the Christmas decorations to replace the broken/burnt out bulbs PRIOR to stringing them across the square?

Grinch.

I know what you are talking about mzchief, that looks so bad. It sure looks better then the red bulbs they use to have up around the square though. Only 50% of them were lit and the wreath on the pole wouldn't light either.

Almost has an evil look to it.

I love that Court House.

If I had my way it would have a cross with a "little baby Jesus" on the front lawn.

But then again ... I am a Democrat :)

Nice pics Tony! Take a bow.

I think it looks cheesy. It would be beautiful if the courthouse structure itself was outlined with white lights. I'm sure Wise Co has the money - y'all make 'em do it.

It looks like the insane asylum in Silence of the Lambs. Only decorated for X-mas (now THAT'S how a Democrat spells "Christmas" ~ no "Christ" and they're all happy, the Godless heathens).

This court house is controlled by Republicans. THEY CHOSE Not to have any religious themes at all.

But they DID vote to have the Dixie Battle Flag flown in the halls.

So save the CRAP about us Democrats. Which we will change this next Election cycle so WE can bring back Christians to the County Offices !!!

What did we expect?

That job had two challenges from the get go. Men and city workers.

9:10, What about that mantra yall always preach about seperation of church and state? And I thought it was the hayseed christian Republicans fault for everything? What a bunch of hypocrites. All ya'll have to offer is a goon, a buffoon, a coon and a looney tune for President.

Cheesy would be the lighted decorations along the 287 service road by Dairy Queen. Those really need to go.

I can understand the county not wanting to affix ANYTHING to a historical structure that might cause damage to the structure just to temporarily outline the courthouse in holiday lights. I can also understand the county not wanting employees to RISK injury while putting up holiday lights. However, it is FAR past time for there to be a DIFFERENT and BETTER display of the Courthouse Square lights other than having them swooping out of the clock tower and being anchored to random buildings at random heights. The light display looks like a poorly executed, ill conceived muddle.

Wise County has NUMEROUS awesome PRIVATE holiday light displays that rival ANYTHING ever done by the Griswolds. I think the county should take suggestions from the PUBLIC as to how to best display the holiday lights on the Courthouse Square.

10:18 Stay with me Hayseed. We are talking about the County Court House and those Republican Clowns.

And I will take a goon, a buffoon, a coon or a looney tune over the Dumb ass who just sent alot of the counties women and men to the dessert to die for WMD's that just wasnt there.

Or are you still the only one that is looking from your double wide windows?

Grinch, grinch, grinch ...
complain, complain, complain ...

Sheesh.

I think the lights look good. I think the old red lights looked better.

I once knew a girl who passed through Decatur for the first time during the Christmas season, back in the old "red lights" days. She said from the distance she thought she was seeing a gigantic circus big-top. She thought it was cool.

And it's all good.

So a very Merry Christmas to you all.

Oh man, 11:09...

Talk about a hayseed.

I wish someone would send me to the "dessert." I'm starving!

Were there no jolly crab christmas lawn ornaments for sale at the wal-mart this year?

You're right, MzCreep, I agree with the potential damage to outline the Courthouse itself. Since Wise County is full of welders, why couldn't they make a light-weight outline replica of said Courthouse and put the lights on it? I'm sure there are some smart enough that they could make it easy to put up and take down by those county/city employees.

I just know when I come back from Azle/Boyd up 730, I see a few fairly fabulous lit-up houses. I can only imagine how the most beautimous Wise County Courthouse would look like that.

What I want to know is why Barry is not taking on the case of the infamous missing blue ball? If you will notice, the courthouse lawn used to have 3 Christmas balls - one green, one red, and one blue - staked out. Now there are only two ... someone has stolen Wise County's blue ball!!

Do you remember when there used to be trees on the courthouse lawn and birds were drawn to said trees and would obliterate every car on the square? One time some officers (I believe they were sheriffs deputies)hauled out their trusty shotguns and began to blast Tweety for all they were worth! That was the first and last bird hunt on the square. Populace was not impressed! It was great for a kid though going around catching live birds that had been clipped in the onslaught.
