Once the Ontario Human Rights Commission get through with this complaint every furniture store in Ontario will have to go through sensitivity training as well as stop selling all brown and black sofas.
The woman actually had the STONES to say "'With slavery and what happened to us and the words they called us, it hits home.'"?
FIRSTLY who the bloody Hell is "THEY" and "US"?
SECONDLY when the bloody Hell was SHE ever a slave?
THIRDLY why should ANYONE care that some RANDOM, mean spirited sleazebag put a word that SOME people have ELECTED to deem TOO offensive to speak on a tag?
FOURTHLY people need to REALIZE that at some point some douchbag will call them a name and they need to get the FLOCK over themselves and move on.
Odd how the FACT that THOUSANDS of years BEFORE white people owned slaves BLACK and BROWN people owned slaves. The majority of slaves became slaves when the tribes/nations that kicked the arses of the tribes/nations with whom they were at war took the LOSERS as slaves and enslaved or sold the LOSERS to slave traders.
I will care about the word "nigger" when there is not a single black person using the word "nigger."
Incidentally, I have NEVER referenced ANY person as a "nigger" and am ill at ease when ANYONE calls any person a name like "nigger", "slut" and such.
If you go back far enough, we all probably come from slaves of one sort or another. Indentured peasants throughout Europe, Eqyptians, Romans, Greeks. For a large part of the last couple of thousand years, you basically had a few elite and the rest of the people were slaves either fully or were to some degree obligated or bonded to the elite. I don't know there's a whole lot of difference in a person going back 500 years to bring up their slave heritage or 1,000 or 2,000 years like I could probably do. And hey, I didn't ask to be born in this country either, and frankly my "heritage" back to Europe is far more recent than a person that has to go back to the 1500s and the African slave trade. And to boot, most European immigrants were more or less "slaves" for a considerable period of time just to gain entry into this country and to make a nickel to eat. But, I'm white, so to hell with me and my heritage.

That woman has never been a slave, so she needs to never bring that up again.
