Arch-Conservative State Sen. Jane Nelson . . .

. . . "introduced legislation Thursday that would require 'moderate or vigorous' daily physical activity for students in kindergarten through eighth grade."

I don't think its by chance that the Star-Telegram decided to run a picture with this story.

Well now, can we the voters demand that our Texas senators and legislators hold themselves to the same standards?

With the looks of some of these folks a bit of physical fitness might help them too.

The Republicans want less government control.

They sound more like Democrats to me.

Now she is one big "hippocrite".

She isn't a "hippocrite" - she just doesn't want kids to turn out the same way she did. I will not show my picture - it is similar.

I want my kids to LOVE PE and love being active - I want better for my kids than I had growing up.

She's one to be talking, look's like she could use a PE herself.

All studies show that kids do better in class if they have some physical activity breaks. Active PE will help academics. This probably applies to workers too, but that would take more "government requirements."

My daughter has P.E. everyday in school. (k-6) I didn't think this was an issue. I didn;t realize there were schools who didn't have PE.

Yeah, that would be a great opportunity to prevent obesity (same thing they are saying about the PPV shot, right), and obesity causes many other problems, and those will kill you! Seems more logical to require PE than the PPV shot. I hope my kid has to take PE everyday. You still have to take PE in college, so why not in elementary?
