Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • Last night I dreamed I ran into Ann B. Davis (Alice from The Brady Bunch) in the Northeast Mall. And then moments later I saw LizaMinnelli. That's so weird.
  • Hung out by a beautiful backyard pool on Saturday night. It made me realize how incredibly boring my backyard is.
  • The mysterious unknown little boy found dead in a Wylie park was ID'd over the weekend. Then it seems like the cops jumped the gun and arrested his grandmother.
  • Richie Whitt over at the Dallas Observer posed an interesting question about the many people who showed up for the dead boy's candlelight vigil: Why don't we care that much about the living?
  • I wish there was a constant Mark Cuban cam that I could watch when the Mavericks are struuuugling.
  • A team leading a seven game series in the NBA by a 3-1 lead, have gone on to win the series 181 out of 189 times. (That nugget comes from WBAP, however, so it might be wrong.)
  • I caught a little bit of a bicycle race at Indiana University this weekend on TV -- the same race that is featured in the old movie Breaking Away. The crashes are insane. (And I've mentioned it to a couple people but I don't think anyone remembers Breaking Away.)
  • A Dallas Morning News delivery guy was murdered this morning. I think I recall the same thing happening to another one a couple of years back.
  • There was a borderline assassination attempt on the President this weekend which seems to be getting very little press.
  • I haven't had my home air conditioner on in a week and resorted to the weird practice (for me) this weekend of leaving my windows open.
  • President Obama visited Billy Graham at home over the weekend. It seems like Graham has been on his death bed for years, doesn't it?

Barry---I remember Breaking Away. Dennis Quaid as a youngster!

Of course, I'm also from a little town near Indiana University so I know about the Little 500. Talk about a party!

The grandmother of that little boy did not commit murder. She got left holding the bag. That little boy had severe medical needs that required near round the clock care, and his mother abandoned him and his father and paternal family lost contact and didn't pursue it. They should ALL be held accountable.

That Wiley grandmother was victimized by the "Angel's" mother! It is Wrong to put the Total blame on her!!!!

Congratulations on being green Mr. Green and saving on your electrical consumption. I have not had my a/c or heat on one time during April. I am on strike against using it. This morning my inside temperature is 68 degrees.

Did Billy Graham convert Obama to Christianity?

Little Gerren's parents are to blame here. Grandparents should never have to raise their grandchildren, they should be enjoying the rest of their lives. Don't have children if you can't take care of them!!

I remember Breaking Away.

I thought Billy Graham died a long time ago.

Yeah, the Mavs were one of those teams that blew a 3-1 lead in the playoffs a few years ago. Remember that?

Early Voting starts today! Make sure everyone gets out and votes!
Messenger messed up in school board candidates in Alvord in Sunday's paper. Didn't mention the best candidate running.
VOTE FOR LARRY NIVENS, for AISD school Board! He is the BEST choice for the job!
VIC and JIMMY are running unopposed - But they deserve your vote as well!

BG - why do you think they jumped the gun on arresting the Grandmother for murder??? She threw him away for dead like he was just a bag of trash. If she couldn't take care of him she should have spoke up...regardless of the fact that the child was left with her for longer than agreed..

Why vote for Larry Nivens? He doesn't have any children in school and doesn't have the educational background the other Larry has. But He has a wife that works for the school district. In other districts that would be the reason not to vote for someone. Does he want to take care of wife and his insurance? Why?

B-dawg your dreams scream your gay, when are you going to accept that realization? I mean you're overly concerned about your physique and all of your "girlfriends" look like guys in drag.

Nivens' wife and MANY other friends do work at the school, which gives him insight to what really goes on up there. However, he will not make his decisions based on what is best for only them. He is a "big picture" kind of guy - and will always vote for what is best for the entire district, not a chosen few.
Nivens has also served on the board for many years before, with integrity and honesty. He knows the job description of a good board member, which is more than can be said for his opponents.
And since you mentioned the other Larry - you may want to check into his background a little more. He was fired as the AISD superintendent many years ago, but he sued the district and left with a pocket full of cash. Then, we allowed him to take a seat on the board where he has continued to try to "run the world." Google in his name, with the old superintendent's name - It will take you two days to go through all the blogs discussing his performance record.
Out of the three candidates, Nivens has the most to offer. Experience, honesty and integrity.
VOTE NIVENS!
