Train vs. Man News

Getting word that a man was walking on railroad tracks and struck by a train somewhere near Rhome tonight. Developing . . . Edit: One police scanner monitoring commenter says a Justice of the Peace has been called out. In Texas, oddly, that only means one thing.

The tracks seem to be the most common place where people get hit by trains

No one has been found yet. They just said that he started walking towards Rhome. No train has hit anyone, YET.

Why does GE run prime time commercials for their jet engines and locomotives? Is there really anyone out there setting at home watching the tube that is in the market for a jet engine. Seems like a waste of money.

854 just because they hadn't fount them don't mean they ain't been nobody hit, are you a dummy or are you just from alvoid or sumpin..?

based on your writing and spelling..........be careful calling anyone dummy.
secondly......alvord is spelles without an i and pronounced the same.....like Ford.....AlVORD

Call Dennis Hudson he might have one of them there blood hounds

10:05, yes, there are people watching television that are in the market for GE's big ticket items. And, part of the marketing scheme is to have the average person associate those big, complicated, reliable things with more common GE products. Similar to the way Honda sells Civics in part by manufacturing and racing Indy Cars.

You are right on the spelling of Alvord and wrong on the pronunciation. You have to go with the natives on how they pronounce their home. The old-timers in Alvord pronounce it "Alvoid". Their pronuniciation trumps the pronunciation of those that don't live there or haven't lived there long.

I think that was the point that 10:19 was making.

Uh, 6:09 AM, I think 10:19 PM was being intentionally funny with his spelling/pronunciation and grammar (with the exception of "fount"), and yet at the same time you were judgmentally correcting him you typed "spelles" instead of "spelled".

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't "tho" rocks.

P.S. 6:09 A.M., "tho" was INTENTIONAL!

RE jet engines - there is a company in Decatur that makes parts that are a piece of the jet engine. So yes, if jet engines are selling it might help a local company stay in business and avoid layoffs.

I bet Tom is on his way for backup. 40,000 miles in 8 months must be a new record for a Super Cop. Yall go ahead an make fun of Mr. Hudson he will be back in office next time around. They only voted to keep Obammy out not to put Tom in think about it??

We do not need Hudson or Bishop in ther next year we need to start over with new people.

7:49...Then why not do an add campaign that says GE we make reliable things like Jet engines, why not take a look at our washing machines or small appliances.

I know literally there are people that work for companies that purchase jet engines watching TV, my point is these folks are already being marketed in a different way. It is not like they are sitting around the house, see the commercial and go "oh, I didn't realize GE made Jet Engines, I better go check that out at work tomorrow". Still seems like a waste of money.

Tom is not running again as Constable because he is going for sheriff! He will have a reoord of traffic fines that will keep the JP busy to request two extra clerks! And who knows how many other arrests he will have for his campaign ads to his credit. He is serious about this. No more lazy constables thinking it is not a 24-8 job!

I thought the same thing about the GE commercial (not to mention it was pretty cheesy) but what minority audience has the authority to order commercial turbines? Additionally, who is building jets right now? Seems like it would be a tough market...

24-8? Clue me in. Not sure the position was ever intended to be an even 24-7 job. Not undermining the job at all!! But at the salary, I think it is more of a honor and duty, and so should be served. Not as Co-sheriff, DPS, Game Warden, air traffic controller, be all do all, etc, etc. There are many others that are very capable that handle those positions very well.
Are, mabee im juss stoopid.

Why is nothing in the Update about the death? I heard that it was a young man (20-ish)but have not heard where he was from?

1:58.. It is called the suicide squeeze. Everytime someone suicides thyself, it gets squeezed right out of the paper. You can homicide and make the paper, but don't be a suiciding and expect to make the WCM.

I heard there was a woman from Boyd that killed herself last night.
Then there was a 20ish young man who was laying between the tracks when the train came. He didn't move when the train came. Sounds like he may have already been gone. Supposedly, he had a group of friends not far away looking for him.
