- The telephone call from other lawyers that starts off, "Tell me what you think about this issue" = I like. Friendly advice is something we all need.
- The telephone call from the out of town lawyer that starts off, "I'm from out of town and I've got this plea bargain offer. Is that good? Tell me about the prosecutors and juries up there" = I don't like. Hey, he paid you to know stuff like that.
- Fort Worth is close to erecting a statue of JFK near his last Fort Worth speech. I'm pretty sure that there is not a single statue of an individual any where in Wise County. Am I wrong?
- Wow. During Obama's speech last night, Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina yelled out, "You lie!" Absolutely incredible and reprehensible. (Story and quick video here in case you missed it.)
- That was very close to Idiocracy's "House of Representin'"
- And Fox and Friends this morning leads the show with, "Was he out of line? We'll report and let you decide." Good grief.
- With all the "Rangers excitement" going on, I'm pretty sure that their last playoff games against the Yankees in the late 1990s did not sell out at Arlington.

- I had to fake a conversation yesterday when someone started talking about a subject I was clueless about. That's hard to do.
- No Beatles on iTunes after all. But VH1 had a 1990s documentary on the group called Anthology last night that I had never seen before. I hit the record button because it looked really good.

- The story of the 8 year old in Saginaw that snuck out of school and drove a van down Boat Club Road to a gas station yesterday is amazing. Almost more amazing: The keys were left in the van he took. Who leaves keys in the ignition these days?
- Ellen Degeneres is the new judge on American Idol. As much as I didn't care for her in her early years, she's kind of grown on me. But I still won't watch American Idol.

Great picture! Yes I would....
Both sides do it, get over it.
Wilson of South Carolina should have immediately been escorted out of the hall. This would likely have been the case had something like this occured in a courtroom scenario.
All this school yard bullying by Republicans is disgusting and totally disrespectful, not to mention embarrassing.
Turnabout is fair play, http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/09/10/flashback_democrats_boo_bush_at_2005_state_of_the_union.html
Regarding the statue in Wise County:
On the edge of the #5 green at RAB there is a "statue" dedicated to a long-time member of the club who passed away a few years ago. The statue is of a golfer and it is carved from the trunk of a tree that I had died.
As to Joe wilson's coment;what's wrong with calling a duck a duck. And to the idol hireing of Ellen the degenerate;does that mean there is now three men judges kinda?DAGO
what about 8 track?
Oh how easily Dems forget the Booing from the Democrats during Bush's state of the union address... it's soo reprehensible... PUKE.
Such short memories...
Wow! The most truthful moment happened and somehow I remember the other side not being nice either during Bush II speeches!
Will illegals be covered under Obama health care reform? Yes, because checking for legal status will not be allowed.
Obama needs to get the iron hot and get to a big load of ironing out the details of the reform bill. 1) Obama said it isn't going to cost the taxpayers but the Congressional Budget Office states it will increase the deficit $230 Billion over 10 years and we all know the CBO underestimates deficit spending. 2) It will be paid for by preventive measures...prevention increase the quality of health care but increases costs. For example, sceening for colon or breast cancer is more expensive than treating the few who actually get cancer 3) Fraud and abuse in Medicare will pay for it. When did big government ever deal with fraud and abuse and why haven't they already done it? Get out a very hot iron for this one.
Guess anyone who disagrees with the hard left is going to be called out over lies. Perhaps more than one guy yelling out "you lie" is in order. The American people are not fooled by a gifted orator.
My favorite part of the speech was the laughter about ironing!
6:44 Great comment! At least Simon won't be hanging all over her like he did Paula. Will miss all that going on this next season.
And Joe made the most truthful comment during the whole 50 minute speech last night. And it was so partisan that it is clear the hard left is attacking anyone who gets in their way of shoving govenment run health care down our throats.
Obama missed a chance to start with the reform we can agree on to push through his hard left agenda.
And it isn't going to cost taxpayers a dime and we aren't going to give up any care. If you believe that buy an ocean front property in Arizona. I love that George Straight song.
I'm so excited about Ellen joining AI. She's a big enough star that she will be able to stand up against Simon. Plus, she's very witty. I can't wait for the next season to start! Woohoo!
"gifted orator"?....I think rather a practiced Teleprompter reader.
Idol won't be the same without Paula. Maybe I will quit watching it. I'm not an Ellen fan.
If I am not mistaken, didn't the York guy who murdered the officer in Bridgeport also steal a car with the keys left in? Why is that guy still breathing by the way?
The Republicans that post on this blog are not like any of the Republicans I know. Are you for real in defending Joe Wilson's "you lie"? For real?
Snickering, holding signs, obnoxious outbursts........
the little Republican boys needs an old fashion Nun with a ruler to teach them to behave.
I am not even going to get wrapped up in this "smear" tactic...Just face it, the Republicans of Wise County have a SEVERE case of the "dumb ass"....just get over it and move on...Wilson represented you all last night during Obama's speech and he has been declared "embarrassing and disrepectful" by the Republican John McCain...To all of you Wise County Republicans you are "embarrassing and disrepectful" as well...Okay, I'm done! That was really easy!
That wasn't a spaceship that came through town yesterday - it was our next incoming shipment of crickets!
Note to out of town lawyers:
Always start phone conversations like this "Tell me what you think about this issue. I've got this plea bargain offer. Is that good? Tell me about the prosecutors and juries up there"
Well, I thought Idol was already gayed out to the max, but at least the contestants will get the ugly truth handed to them in a nice, tactful way. I'm talking about the cattle call segments, those are the only ones I watch
I'm confused, isn't everyone anonymous on this blog whether they have a screen name or not?
Yay, Ellen, at least it will have some comedy to go with Simon's meanness!
And though Rep. Wilson's outburst was inappropriate, I wouldn't call it reprehensible...turnabout IS fair play, would you feel the same if it were done to Bush, Barry? Really? I think you would have said just goes to show how many people are sick and tired of Bush...right? You would NOT have said it was reprehensible...I KNOW you :)
Let's face it,folks, the two sides will never agree, just won't happen...just reading this blog verifies that.
At least Republicans will admit Joes' outburst was rude (truthful, but rude.) I don't believe any Democrats admitted their rep's were rude all those years W was in office and they behaved like little, disrespectful, spoiled rotten children during his speeches. What goes around, comes around. Obama embarrassed himself and ALL Dems last night with his speech of lies.
He IS a very gifted orator and what does scare the bejeebers out of me, 8:56, is that MANY Americans ARE fooled by his oratory skills. Are these people not bright enough to really SEE the big picture, but fall sheepishly behind a slick talker?
hmmmmmmm...that sounds familiar.... slick talker... oh yeah...last Dem Pres was SLICK WILLIE, right? I see a pattern developing!
Ignorance is among us.
Once again we see the "sliding scale" applied by Liberal Democrats of what constitutes unacceptable behavior. Republicans consider Wilson's behavior rude and boorish, but understandable. Democrats will call Congressional hearings over the matter. Oxen and goring and such. (The real test will be to see how much play the incident gets in the MSM.)
Joe Wilson's behaviour was disrespectful to the office he holds and the office of the POTUS and worse, a disservice to EVERY American who has an ounce of decency.
Repuglicans attempting to defend Wilson's behaviour with the old saw of "Dumbocrats did it to Bush" is infantile and just more evidence, by their own admission, that Repuglicans are no better or different than Dumbocrats. Attempting to determine whether Repuglicans are better than Dumbocrats is tantamount to attempting to discern if horseshiat smells worse than bullshiat, regardless of the outcome, you are smelling shiat.
It is high time voters demand better representation than can be provided by either party.
Vote for anyone other than a Repuglican or a Dumbocrat.
Why not call a spade a spade? Wilson has as much right to speak out as the Dems did during Bush's speeches! Just because the idiot got elected doesn't mean we have to revere him. I am in FULL support of anyone who calls his bluff on his lying and deception.
As for Ellen, they couldn't have chosen a better judge. She is wonderful, witty, and just plain hilarious, and will add much more to the show than stupid, shallow Paula, who just showed her ignorance and hung all over Simon. Can't wait to see Ellen in this new role.
Saw a great bumper-sticker this morning, which I want to find for my car: "I'll keep my guns, freedom, and money. You can keep the 'change'" LOVE IT!
So what's "The Fact Jack" you won't let us read ?
Wordkyle, so ALL Republicans consider Wilson's behavior rude and boorish, but understandable?
Name the Republicans that consider his outburst rude and boorish.
Can anyone tell me why "big Trucks" come through the square ?
Shut up mzchief.
At least he didn't throw his shoes.
Double Fake W
10:29 - and you are included in the rude category too. MzChief is right on target.
Our elected officials are acting like school yard bullies.
Rush and ilk are finally making the negative progress they promote.
There is a great disturbance in the force. I agree with Mzchief.
Also, when I began practicing law, I was warned not to practice in Wise or Hunt county unless your family tree was firmly planted in either. So I don't.
In the infamous words of the king of liberal weenies, Slick Willy, The era of big government is over. I wonder if the media will actually do investigative reporting to find out that Obammy actually was lying and then report it and let you decide? Do not hold your breath.
10:19
I found the outburst totally out of line and expected the Sergeant at Arms to have him removed immediately.
It should be noted that Wilson is from South Carolina, which has had been a hot bed of idiocy over the last couple of years. There must be something in the water.
At least none of the Texas folks did anything rude. Texans tend to be friendly, helpful types, like posters on this blog, who NEVER insult people because of their position on an issue or attack another person's character anonymously.
All of the negative posters must be from out of state.
Double Fake Registered Voting Republican
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergeant_at_Arms_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives
Nice comeback 10:29. Did someone type that for you or have you learned to cut and paste?
I agree 100% with MzChief. The current 2 party system is screwed. I've voted Democrat for the last 24 years (including voting for Obama). I am completely disappointed and disillusioned with the democrats that own both houses of congress and the white house. Like Republican politicians, the dems make all sorts of promises to their base (people like me), then make decisions in the best interests of their corporate donors.
I don't necessarily think the answer is voting straight libertarian. After all, once a libertarian gets into power, he/she will be susceptible to the same corrupt influences. We need to scrap the way elections are financed altogether. Stop the need for politicians to constantly raise funds for the next election. If we want honest rep, dem, lib representation, then remove the ability for big-money donors to buy influence. Harrumph!!
He couldn't throw his shoe because his foot was in his mouth!
9:16 very well said
Reublicans that have condemned Wilson's outburst.
John McCain
Lindsey Graham
Dave Camp
Bob Corker....and..Wilson himself.
1019 - All of them? I don't want to take up too much space here in the Comments, so give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the list.
1035 - I catch your drift, but please explain the phrase "Rush and ilk are finally making the negative progress they promote." That's linguistic algebra that I just don't get.
10:39 - and on a rather related subject - that being from a certain county brings certain disturbances -
Our bunch is from Montague county and as such are all branded "racist", just because at one point no African Americans lived in the county.
Labels can be cruel.
Wordkyle, I take offense at your use of the word "all" Republicans, because I am a Republican and I don't take offense or condemn his outburst at all. As a matter of fact, I'd probably have done the same thing if I had been there and had the guts to do it. It certainly voice what MANY of us were thinking, so DON'T use the term "all". Speak for yourself.
Was what Joe Wilson did out of line? Definitely. Was it the most incredible thing ever witnessed? Of course not. Democrats booed Bush during the State of the Union and Republicans booed Clinton, as well. The only thing that Simon did was really throw a monkey wrench into the President's speech. It caught him off-guard and it nailed him right between the eyes. The best part was watching Nancy Pelosi's face in the background. Personally, politics needs to have some passion in it.
Wilson was wrong and he apologized. Glad to see you have been watching Fox and Friends again. We're going to convert you yet to the truth!
Just checking you out Wordkyle since your worship of "research" is so important. Why not take up space here? Barry loves it.
Rush and others who spew hatred and negativity against our President and other Democrats are absolutely helping promote hatred in this country.
If you don't get it, then that is your problem.
Can anyone tell me why "big Trucks" come through the square ?
10:28 AM
Because if you are on 51 the signs point you that way.
I can't understand why they don't have 380 to 287 marked as the truck route and have downtown posted with "NO TRUCKS".
Obama says...
"if the glove don't fit, you must acquit"
And OJ walks free.
Obama is as smooth as Johnnie Cochran who caused the jury to ignore the evidence and vote his way.
And the big government spending health care bill passes.
cant stand Ellen or FConan
Did anybody else notice that the only local channel not covering President Obama's speech was FOX!!!! Now come on, tell me again how FEAUX NEWS is fair and balanced and unbiased!!! GIVE ME A BREAK PEOPLE!!!!! Just sayin!!!
Obama is a lier. Good job Congressman Wilson. Looks like the town hall meetings are spreading to Washington. We are angry.
If you can't ask an in town lawyer, who are you supposed to ask? Do you just ask the judge if he's an asshole or not?
Because of Wilson's outburst, we should all get raped on taxes to pay for a government health plan clusterf---.
I don't see anything wrong with the two-party system itself. Without it, we would have the same politicians working within a coalition government, each of them worrying about the next election and what they can do to line the pockets of themselves and their political supporters.
I have more of a problem with the entitlement mentality politicians get after they've been in Washington a while. They no longer have to live within the society that they create with their policies. (And they get to vote pay raises for themselves.) Career politicians (such as Ted Kennedy) should not exist. They ought to have to earn an honest living.
1059 - I didn't say "all." The other guy did.
1106 - Rush is spewing "hatred?" Want to give an example or two? Since you don't want to give me your e-mail address, go the other direction and check the headlines to see Democrat outrage and overreaction to Wilson's outburst.
11:11 I would assume permits were required to drive that monster through downtown. And, the state has to approve the route when a permit is requested.
Not only was he showing his ass by the crap he spewed, he was putting a punctuation mark on all the BS that has been put forth by the Un-loyal opposition for the past 6 months.
If they don't win then they try to throw a monkeywrench into anything that the Democrat in power tries to accomplish.
Up until that happened I would have been afraid of a stalemate because of the Blue dogs that were straddling the fence. I would be willing to bet that this morning many of them have changed their minds about a lot of things.
11:17-it LIAR not LIER.
Wordy, if I give you my email address it will be via your website, if my hands will cooperate and click on it.
:-O
1158 - I'm waiting with breathless anticipation. Meanwhile, the Democrat overreaction has begun. As I said earlier, Wilson's reaction is getting more press than the content of Obama's speech. For some reason, a Republican's exhibiting bad manners is considered more important than Obama's, er, inaccuracies.
Just thought I'd let yall know what our wonderful Rep. Thornberry's secretary out of Wichita Falls told me on the phone this morning...I asked her if he supports every American having health insurance and she said "he does not support this policy because if every American had health insurance, we do not have enough doctors to support their needs...."""" WOW!!!! SCARY!!! I guess if every American could even afford to pay for their own health care, he is saying we don't have enough doctors to take care of us all....OH MY! RIDICULOUS! Remind me not to re-elect him unless it is for "dumb ass of the year". I tried calling Rep. Cornyn's office as well, nobody answered the phone nor did he have a voice mail so you can leave your message...I have continuously tried calling Hutchinson's office, but to no avail, her phones are continuously "busy"...I wonder if I called the operator if they would tell me they really are busy or if they are off the hook....Tsk! Tsk!
No Fake At All!
I suppose you want Wilson to throw a shoe at the idiot?
It is somewhat queer that they would ask Ellen to join American idol. Someone who knew something about vocal music would have been nice.
As much as I wanted to start doing my duty and paying attention to politics and pushing my reps to do better. This healthcare debate has given me the worst tired head ever. Can we not shelve the issue and come back later? And now the DMN has an article saying 1 in 4 texans doesn't have health insurance. I wonder why? Of that 25%, how many work and receive a
W-2? If the system was truly broken, shouldn't the ambulance drive away without treating or you be denied at the ER if you don't have insurance?
And if any of you think a single Donkey or Elephant has read the proposal on Healthcare entirely, call the white van and have your stupid ass hauled to Wichita Falls.
Somebody stop the f'n insanity, please!
Joe Wilson's Democratic opponent in the upcoming election has recieved more than $200,000 in donations since the speech last night...and still counting.
12:49 I think Ellen is perfect for the job. Anyone with an ear can tell who's good and who isn't, and she will add some humor as well. Besides, anyone would add more substance than Paula, who is simply an air-headed self-absorbed idiot.
So whats happening these days with the cop killer and the texting technology teacher???
1:12 a/k/a Danny Boy:
I am sorry it gives you tired head to face the reality of the state of the American health insurance dilemma, but I am part of the 25% you are speaking of, and YES, I work full-time and have received a W-2 since I began working 35 years ago...I don't work for a large company who gives you the benefit of health insurance...I am a single mom on a fixed budget...I barely make ends meet every month...my taxes pay for all of the government employees to have the best health insurance available but yet I can't afford insurance for myself...and don't even start the bs about I could budget it into my budget if I tried...let's see do I pay my electric bill or do I pay for health insurance? If people are deadbeats and don't have a job and expect the government to give them health insurance, that's a different story...i pay my taxes and i need health care I can afford...plain and simple...hope your tired head is more tired now!
I too called Thornberry's office and got the same Secretary who didn't answer my question but said that The congressman had a plan of his own that the Dems weren't willing to debate. I asked her how many plans did he think we needed since there were already 6 that had been debated down to a couple. she said that he was for reform, just not the reform that the president was for. I asked her politely "was he not there, did he not hear the speech"? She said yes he was there and he disagreed with some things that the president was proposing. I asked her what things and she said he has a website and he is going to put it on his website. She couldn't tell me when though. I don't know why she couldn't give me an answer over the phone and save me some time. I just detest going to websites of Congressmen and Senators and reading crap that just makes my blood pressure rise.
In the end, I got no satisfaction. Guess who will be campaigning against Mr. Thornberry in the next election no matter who runs against him. That's right,
1:50 - Irritating, huh? Thornberry's secretary might have been "hushed" after her remark to me about there not being enough doctors to take care of every American if we were all insured...NUTS - COMPLETELY NUTS!!! I will join your campaign against Thornberry...what a joke..he's probably in DC at an exclusive restaurant drinking martinis to get rid of his headache from hearing the real deal last night...or maybe Joe Wilson is buying all of his constituents drinks to regain their friendship....WAAAAHHHHHHHH!
VOTE AGAINST THORNBERRY!!! YAY!!
From Rasmussen: "Polling conducted over the past two nights shows that 44% of voters currently favor the health care reform proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats. 53% are opposed."
Note that the quote says "VOTERS" and does not include illegals that are included in other polls.
I am Unfatcat's spouse.....I had to walk away while listening to him talk to that lady......that was after I kept poking him in the side, telling him to "be nice" - he was being nice, but that lady was so uninformed and stupid, it was getting him slightly riled up.......so I didn't hear all of his side of the conversation, because I could tell it was going no where. Then I read your comments at 12:30PM, and asked if my spouse had posted that. He said he didn't, and I was totally blown away with what you typed. Yep, I'm guessing someone overheard what that silly lady was telling you, and she tried her best to handle my husband's questions better......I wish we had recorded that conversation, yours more than that. It would be viral on the internet by now. Think you could get her to say that bullshiate again?
Yea 2:10 it is really interesting(but scary)what the minority party is doing and saying to keep their fatcat buddies from losing any of their bonuses because when they do they won't have enough money to shore up the campaign coffers of the idiots that prop up their causes and their legal rape of the American citizens that do most of the real lifting for this country.
I am a business owner but the last president did nothing but bad things to my business and thanks to the current administration I am starting to make a small comeback after a very dismal 2008.
I haven't had healthcare since the second year that Bush lite became president and I am 62 so time is running out for me. If I live to be 65 they will make me wait a few more months until they certify me for medicare but then I will have health insurance that does not have 60 percent overhead. What the hell about 60 percent overhead is so hard for Repubs to understand? It is wasteful and the people up top that take those multi-million dollar bonuses should just disappear off the face of the earth. They are leeches, nothing more.
In my humble opinion the only health care plans that are fair for everybody are the ones in Europe and Canada where everybody is covered.
For crying out loud, we are the most prosperous and ingenious nation on earth, why the hell do we treat our citizens like they are living in a third world country?
Rasmussen is talking mostly to people who have healthcare and who actually believe the BS that the Repukes are putting out there all over the airwaves.
For want of a better term, I say they are misinformed.
How many of them do you think actually listened to the President's speech instead of talking over it like that clown from South Carolina that somehow was elected a Senator? I wonder.
3:39, I did not listen to Obama. I despise the man and had better things to do with my time, like setting up my deer feeder so I can shoot something to eat and piss the animal rights Democrats off. I love clinging to my guns and religion.
1:47: there was a time in my life when I couldn't afford all my expenses...know what I did? I got TWO jobs...imagine that!!! I didn't even think of asking others to pay my way. I paid it myself with good old hard work and moonlighting. If you can't pay for both, get off your a** and get a second job. I did that when I was raising 3 kids alone, with 2 of them in college at the same time, and it didn't kill me,honey.
4:01 - Unfortunately, I can't get two jobs, when I go home after my full-time job I take care of my elderly mother who has dimentia so she won't have to be placed into a nursing home where your tax money will pay for her to be taken care of by people who don't care about her at all...you don't know anything about my life, except what I have posted on this blog...sounds to me like you need to get off your soap box and do something constructive for this country instead of analyzing one person's needs that you know absolutely nothing about...I don't sit on my ass when I go home...kudos to you for all you have accomplished...you sound really proud of yourself! BTW, I am not asking for a handout, I would just be ecstatic to pay for my own health care at a much more affordable rate...Not asking for any help from you...You should want the same.
She just makes me wanna eat a big ole Octopuss or somethin like it.
4:01,
>I would just be ecstatic to pay for my own health care at a much more affordable rate...Not asking for any help from you...You should want the same.<
"Much more affordable rate" means you only want the rest of us to chip in for some of your health care. You just want a little welfare.
Either get a better job, or cut back on other stuff. Anyone with a decent job can afford health care, if they want it.
5:31 - you seem to have all the answers for everybody in the good old USA...why don't you run for president and see what you can get done...affordable health care does not have to involve the government, it means the insurance companies should quit padding their pocketbooks so much and reduce the costs so everybody can afford it...geesh...a bunch of know-it-alls....
5:31 i am sure the 43,000,000 million americans who have been denied health coverage and are uninsured appreciate your bittnerness and support...i don't know where you were raised or by whom, but they certainly didn't instill common sense (oh you are born with that), or helping out people in need...just because you don't like the current president and people are asking for help it automatically becomes "welfare"...preach it to somebody who cares what you think...i am sure 43,000,000 of the uninsured americans pay their taxes and wouldn't consider it welfare for receiving benefits they have worked for...
4:01
Do you ever read the newspaper or watch the news (other than Fox) to see that "real" people are struggling to stay alive and keep their homes...it's condescending morons like you that make America what it is today...
Politicians only fib because you people could not handle the truth!
If the new healthcare proposal was just "good ole healthcare at a lower cost", I would be all for it, sadly this isn't the case. The new proposal has so many loopholes and hidden agendas that most people don't even know about. But whenever it's signed into law, and then you realize there are things you don't like about the new plan, it's too late, because it's now policy. Many people here lower healthcare, then they're imediately hooked without researching the bill further. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.
That taking care of your own thing with elders or other serious conditions by a family member is a real problem. My 2 favorite Republcian stories I experienced first hand is when a Vice-President of a company I was working for at the time told me "Everyone should just take care of there own" like instead of any help from the government. He was making a shitload of money, I was/am working for standard wages. Big difference. Easier to take care of your own kocking down VP pay. The other one was that the same work place was an engineer. He stated that growing up he was poor. But, he had cousins that were so poor, he was rich compared to them. The cousins father got killed in an industrial on the job accident, and the engineer told me, "They got all their college tution paid for and a lot of other benefits because their father had got killed." Talked about how hard he worked his way through engineering school and so forth. He said "That is when I knew I was a Republican." So, the Republican was not happy with cousins that got help because their father had died. Typical Republican thinking.
YOU LIE!
One day, you liberals will learn, there is NO magic.
If you are not paying for your life pursuits, then someone else IS.
Take responsibility for the things that affect you individually. Food, shelter, health care. This is America, you can do it.
Asking others to not only take care of themselves, but also take care of your needs, put great pressure on the US economy. That pressure has reached a breaking point.
We CANNOT take care of the government required WELFARE we have now. Much less MORE government welfare.
There is NO investment capital now, because of the demands and debt of the US government. That is why the country is bleeding jobs.
So the fewer jobs, the less tax revenues, and the problems become bigger. The sad thing is, the tipping point came while Bush was in office, and Obama has pushed us further, the WRONG way.
The FACT is, the country CANNOT afford to pay for your health care. You better realize it now, and join the fight against the US debt.
The US recently dropped from having the number one economy in the world, to number two. How far do you want us to drop?
1:52 - good points. I've noticed too that a lot of folks who home school their children are extremely wealthy, over the top religious and Republicans. Those three in combination can render many of these folks "out of touch" with the realities of many other Americans.
I heard from a very good source ELLEN is a fan of Barry's blog. I think it's for the pics.
p.s. Nice pic
"you warm up with those fingers while I get this out"
On December 21 2012 we will all be liberated.
I get so sick of the whiners out there crying about not being able to afford things. Why do you think that entitles you to expect ME to help you when I take care of mine and myself? Government help=MY tax $$, and no, you don't deserve that. That's the American way....work hard, pay for what YOU can afford, and do without the rest. Socialism=something for nothing.
9:11 a.m.
Do you or will you tell your elderly parents that they should not accept medicare, that medicare is socialism and they don't deserve it..they need to keep on working til they can't stand up any more...are you going to deny it when you reach 65 years of age...has anybody (I mean anybody) in your family or your friends ever lost their job and had to file for unemployment (another government ran socialism program) or if your daughter, God forbid, get pregnant and not be able to afford to support their baby - would you tell her to not apply for WIC or Medicaid to help her raise her child? If not, you are one in a million...Thank God our U.S. government has ALWAYS been there for the citizens who are in need...I am a taxpayer and I certainly don't feel any remorse for my tax money helping out a fellow citizen...just sayin'! I believe the Bible says as much...

Divorce does leave a lot of people on the fringe, however, that goes to personal choices. Personally taking care of your mother with dementia is again, your choice. I do not know if I should applaud you for not admitting your mother somewhere she would receive professional care, even though you have stated caring for your mother makes it impossible to do what is necessary to take care of yourself, it still is your choice. Since you live with your mother, the good news is, that you and she have pooled your assets.
Incidentally, your mother's health care is not provided by the government. Your mother and/or father have paid tens of thousands of dollars over decades and continue to pay for medicare. Another choice you have made is to work for an employer who does not offer health insurance. If you lack the skills to obtain a job with health insurance, perhaps, you should make the choice to obtain additional education and acquire the skills necessary to get a better job.
People with extremely low or no co-payments go to the doctor for the sniffles. Most people, who pay for their own health care, only go to the doctor when they have an infection, injury or are truly ill. Unfortunately, ignorant people go to the doctor when they have a cold or virus which does nothing but jack up health care costs for people with insurance. I have NEVER been to or taken my child to the doctor for a cold. Oh, big surprise, my son has NEVER taken antibiotics.
Do I believe I should pay for yours or anyone elses health insurance, NO! Health insurance is no more a right than is transportation, food, shelter or clothing.
You have made the choice to take care of your mother because you do not like the choice of placing your mother in the care of professionals which keeps you from making the choice to obtain additional education so you can make the personal choice of what you should do about YOUR health care. However, you have made the choice that everyone else should have crappy health care and subsidize your health care because of your CHOICES. The quality of people's lives is determined by the CHOICES people make in their lives.
How do you justify requiring 95% of the population changing the quality of their health care and adding $2 trillion over the next 10 years to the deficit so 5% of the citizens of the U.S. have health insurance?
I guess you missed where Obama reduced the number of unisured in the U.S. to 30,000,000 so as to appear to be taking out of the equation the illegal aliens in the U.S. The 30,000,000 does include children receiving state health insurance and people on Medicaid so the number of people without health insurance is closer to 15,000,000 which is right around 5% of the U.S. population.
Medicare is different, because you have PAID in for that. No, I do NOT believe in unemployment or WIC or any of those things. Should anyone in my family need help, that's the responsibility of family, not the government, for the essentials ONLY, meaning food and shelter, not health care. That's a luxury you should pay for. When motivated people lose a job, they find another one..period. They don't go on welfare. The Bible you quote tells us to WORK, not sponge off of others.
MZCHIEF...YOU ROCK!!! Excellent rebuttal at 10:26. You eloquently said what I was trying to say. thank you!

Thank you.
9:11,
You said,"I believe the Bible says as much".
Please show me in the Bible where it says the GOVERNMENT should provide anything.
That is the job of the faithful. NOT the freaking government.
It was 9:58 who is deluded enough to believe the Bible tells us to sponge off of others, not 9:11. Sounds great as long as you're the deadbeat doing the sponging, I guess.
My Bible says over and over again that a major reason God allowed Israel to fall was they failed to take care of widows and orpohans as well as taking advantage of the poor.
Just saying.
501 - If your going to cite the Bible, then consider a couple more passages.
1 Timothy 5:3,4 -- "Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God."
If God got mad at Israel, it may have been at the people, not the government's welfare system.
Just saying.
