Touching

At first I thought the deceased girl has won it posthumously. Either way, very nice. Story.

MORE SCANDAL IN BRIDGEPORT??

BARRY on page 5A of the WCM

"Elected officials have no respect for citizens"

What is this all about and who exactly does it involve??

11:57,
You're an idiot. There is NO comparison!
One girl chose her path.
The other had no choice at all.

It had nothing to do with who suffered more trauma (learn to spell!).

I repeat: You're an idiot.

What are you saying exactly?

I'm hoping I misunderstood your comment. I want to verify that before I slam you.

Becca is a precious girl from a wonderful Christian family. I'm very happy for her.

This was likely a very emotional moment for a deserving Senior.

11:57 - shame on you for your comment.

12:54 do tell? Please clarify about the choices the girls made and the trauma that resulted based on those choices. I'm in the dark except I know the awning randomly fell on two girls from Bridgeport. I have no idea if they were where they were supposed to be at that time. I'm unfamiliar with the other girl?

People it is time to treat others the way you would want your loved ones treated.

Let God judge not humans.

Those in glass houses may not want to throw stones.

God is watching not only on Sundays but on the Internet as well

It is nice...but wonder if there are any senior girls who have lost a family member or friend in the war? Or in a car accident or other tragedy? Or to cancer? Grew up without a mom? Or dad? Lost a sibling? If we start electing homecoming queens on the basis of sympathy, we'll need a longer halftime and a lot more crowns.

I think the kids at B'port HS did great--very thoughtful.

You first two people are so disrespectful. Show some respect, a young girl lost her life and this is a great confidence boost for a girl who has a long road in front of her.

People making bold comments on the internet is turning this country into idiots. I bet someone brings up Obama within the hour.

11:57,
Drama? How do you call what happened drama?

I agree with 12:54, you are an idiot.

Barry,
How could you let a comment like that through?

"posthumously"?

I see nothing funny about this situation.

hey 338, my mom died when I was a freshman, but it was after homecoming that year (not that I was in the running or would have been). nonetheless, people had to stand at my moms funeral. it still warms my heart. I think you sell these kids short by your comment in that you seem to assume that they don't pay respect to those students whose personal tragedies DONT make the news. this was recent, a freak accident, and traumatic to all the kids in that school. I think the homecoming nod was a great gesture (and I recognize that you agree). but I think these kids, and most kids, make the same if not as public, gesture all the time.

How do you know that she got homecoming queen "just because" of the unexpected accident she was a victim of? I am sure that she would have had just a good as chance of any even if she would not have been faced with the traumatic event that she will relive for the rest of her life. I think that she deserves a CONGRATULATIONS and not all the rude and uncalled for comments. I hope that none of you that place unsightly comments NEVER have to go through what this poor girl has been through. I will pray that God forgives you for being so cold hearted.

I agree with 5:50 PM.

6:43, I certainly hope it is not YOU who is poking fun at the word "posthumously." Surely you do know that means "after ones death."

Anonymous said...

11:57 is referring to one of the other girls that was nominated. Her "drama" refers to her screwing one of the high school teachers.

Come on BG. How about you don't let comments through when they are hurtful to kids.

Anonymous said...

10:18...just enjoy the comment...and don't be a dumbarse.

It's ridiculous to blame the victim for the crime. It's called statutory rape for a reason. The fact that he was her teacher adds to his blame. She did not make an informed or educated choice because she is a child by definition and by law. Anyone who honestly thinks she made a choice doesn't what they're talking about.

Is there a law prohibiting a minor from attending a school after having an innapropriate relationship with a teacher?

If the teacher is convicted would that have any bearing on the student's ability to attend the same campus?

U sure do have ALOT of hypocrites on this here bloggy blog of yours!!

hypocrite-"somebody who pretends to have admirable principles, beliefs, or feelings but behaves otherwise"

1:02, if you have knowledge of a high school student "screwing" a high school teacher, then YOU are responsible for reporting that to the proper authorities. Proper authorities would be the police.

We lost a young man this summer in Bowie who was an outstanding athlete. He would have been a junior this year. He was killed in a car accident and would've played varsity this season.

Everybody in Bowie is buying and wearing Bowie Football t-shirts that remember him and they have
established a scholarship in his memory to recognize him. All proceeds from the t-shirts and wristbands will be contributed to the scholarship in his name.

His sister, a senior, also won homecoming queen, whether it was because she was popular or because they did it out of "respect" for the loss of her brother, it doesn't matter. It touched everybody's hearts and there was no negative crap being said about it one bit.

As some of the people have stated on other blogs on this site "Bowie is nothing but a bunch of hillbillies". Welp, I'd much rather be called a hillbilly than a cold-hearted A**Hole with no morals or respect. This is totally ridiculous talk from, I am assuming, adults!

2:24,

It's called "statutory rape" because it was CONSENTUAL and one of them was under the age of legal consent.

like it or not, the kid MADE A CHOICE.

Bad decision? you bet!

teacher totally at fault? absolutely!

But you can't get away from that whole choice thing... a bad decision is still a decision.
