You know, it's always easy to support a winning team, but a community's true character comes to light when they are asked to support a team that may be rebuilding or a team that just may not be as talented or skilled as the other teams they play. Your saying,"County teams are awful!" is a testiment to your character. It is evident you are not now, nor have you ever been, a father. I don't have to explain my saying that, others will know exactly what I mean. Shame on you, Barry, for such a bitter comment.
Hang in there young men! Football is but a fleeting time in your life. Enjoy the game, win or lose!!

I heard the Decatur postponed game has now been cancelled as well.
I don't believe I recall such suckage.
I recently moved to Wise Co. from Stephenville, where football is KING. All I have to say is Wise Co. football is SAD.
They're not awful, just kids working hard and trying.
Go BOWIE...They won...22-9 over Jacksboro and they did it with style for their homecoming in their new football stadium. What an awesome new stadium *all proceeds will be contributed to (it is right behind the brand new high school).
It even has beautiful astroturf with their end zones painted in maroon and white that say "BOWIE". It is really spectactular. Too bad Decatur citizens are still fighting over their's. Why can't you folks just "get along"...

9:36...Lighten up. I seldom agree with Barry, but I don't think this singular comment is a reflection of his character. That would be an over simplification. We don't dislike the boys, but the teams ARE bad.
11:12 from Bowie. You must have put everything in town into that football stadium, because you can paint it up all you want and y'all are still hillbillies. Sorry, but I lived there for 6 months and it was the longest 6 months of my life. I would rather live in Wise County and have a losing football team than to ever have to set my foot in Montague County again. I don't live in Decatur, but I'm glad they have decided that there are better things in life than astroturf.

I like this article by Mark Eaton in the CrossFit Journal, it gives a list of good coaching and bad coaching behavior. The comparison list is directed toward coaches however it could apply to parents, fans and athletes as well.

Pretty much sums up the state of our society. When is the last time you saw a football game cancelled without lightning, tornado warning, or impending hurricane? We are a soft people now. (Hence, the pitiful state of football in Wise County)

Speaking of awful....Danny Neighbors in Paradise is an awful coach......it shows now. When he has good kids they get beat in the first round and when they dont they get beat by forty everynight.......we NEED a new HC and Athletic Director.....the kids and the community deserve better than this bum

sheesh i dont know why ppl are dogging on decatur so much for not having turf....i mean hell, none of the players want it so its not a big deal at all...turf just looks good but it sure as hell dont feel good getting tackled on....i think it should be the players' decisions on whether or not they get it bc they are the ones actually playing on it

Your really going out on a limb there with the turf aren't you?? Especially after Eddie Bland was quoted in the paper stating even though they pulled the Athletics from the bond the school would go ahead and get the turf. I guess I will tell you to, wait and see they will have it.
While we are on Wise County Sports. What happened to Robert Morgan at the Messenger??? Inquiring minds want to know. All of a sudden he isnt there anymore, nothing has been said.. They are keeping it very quiet. Anyone know?

it said on his facebook that his wait to leave wise county had finally ended. i saw him at the middle school game when he was watching his son play tuesday and he did not elaborate other than he mentioned he was tied of doing all the sports, accidents and fires.
it's none of our biz, but i hope the wcm can find someone as good that did as much as him. its a loss.

it's sad when people base a person's job performance on the output of 16 year-old boys. boyd is the disappointment thus far this season and noone is saying a thing about cartwright.

Excuse me why would corbin be more selfish than Lord Henson he played his best in every game he never show boated .please explain why he's selfish , Henson and Corbin had a disagreement and Henson acted like a 16 yr old and bowd up to him and basically told him he would not be missed corbins feelins were hurt to be treated that way by a grown man , a TEACHER/COACH should have had a little compassion towards a kid, and that chicken s--- principal Tally is a sorry excuse for a principal he's scared of Henson he let's him call all the shots at that school actually the town let's Henson call the shots.
